15-year-old boy sitting at bus stop killed in Long Beach crash
A 15-year-old boy sitting at a bus stop was killed after being struck by a car in Long Beach. On June 11, Long Beach police responded to a crash at Palo Verde Avenue and Carson Street shortly before 3 p.m. A preliminary investigation revealed that a driver in an Infiniti G37 sedan was traveling westbound on Carson Street when it ran a red light at the Palo Verde Avenue intersection. The Infiniti struck a Toyota Prius that was traveling southbound on Palo Verde Avenue. The impact caused the Infiniti sedan to overturn. The car skidded onto a sidewalk and struck the 15-year-old boy who was sitting at the bus stop. The boy was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries. The Infiniti driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition and the Prius driver was uninjured. 'At this time, speed appears to be a factor in the collision,' police said. The 15-year-old boy's identity was not released. The fatal crash remains under investigation. LAPD seeks group of men in another attack on a transgender woman
The Los Angeles Police Department is asking for the public's help to find a group of men who they say attacked a transgender woman over the weekend and are believed to be the same people who attacked her in April. According to LAPD, the group involved in a previous attack returned to the victim's location on May 31 at around 11:38 p.m. in the Westlake District of Los Angeles. They assaulted the 61-year-old, leaving her with serious injuries. The group left the scene before authorities arrived. According to the LAPD, one of the suspected attackers entered the victim's store on April 8 and began flirting with her. But once she rejected his advances, he left and later returned, pushing her to the ground. 'The suspect sexually assaulted the victim and discovered she was a transgender woman. The suspect pulled away and threatened to kill the victim,' the LAPD said. The same man allegedly returned to the victim's location several times along with other men and committed other hate crimes against the victim which included striking her with a skateboard, deploying pepper spray, and throwing an unknown liquid substance at her while another man attempted to stun her with a Taser. Detectives believe there may be other unidentified victims and are seeking the public's help in identifying the suspected attackers and released their photographs. Anyone who may have been a victim or has additional information regarding the identification of the suspects, is urged to contact Rampart Division Robbery Detectives at 213-484-3495. Loved ones search for missing 36-year-old Southern California man
Loved ones are searching for a Southern California man who has been missing for over a month. Hehsi Chen, 36, also known as 'Cody,' was reported missing on April 5, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Chen, an L.A. County resident, was last seen on the 21000 block of Stonepine Street in Diamond Bar at 8 a.m. He is described as an Asian male standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing around 141 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and black pants. Chen may have been heading overseas to Taiwan at the time of his disappearance, authorities said. His family and loved ones have not heard from him since and are very concerned for his well-being. Police look for suspects in string of vicious hate crimes against 61-year-old trans woman
Police in Los Angeles are asking for the public's help in identifying three young people wanted for questioning in a violent sexual assault and a series of hate crimes against a 61-year-old transgender woman. Sabrina de la Peña was attacked inside the store she owns and operates in the city's Westlake district on April 8. 'The victim rejected his advances, and he left,' the LAPD said in a press release. 'However, the suspect returned a short time later and pushed her to the ground. The suspect sexually assaulted the victim and discovered she was a transgender woman. 'During one incident, the suspect used a skateboard to strike the victim,' police said in the press release. 'On another occasion, the suspect pepper-sprayed the victim. In the final incident, the suspect threw an unknown liquid at the victim while another suspect attempted to stun her with a Taser.' 'I was screaming for help, but nobody around giving help to me,' Sabrina de la Peña told local The CW affiliate KTLA. 'He take me out to the alleyway and he start beating me outside.' Some of the attacks were caught on video. In one attack, one of the suspects is seen waiting outside the door of de la Peña's store with a skateboard, which he uses to forcefully strike her as de la Peña exits the building. She said the attackers have returned twice since the initial assault, and that the entire ordeal has left her shaken. 'I want to ask the community to help me find those guys, help the police catch those guys. If not, they're going to kill me,' de la Peña told KTLA. 'Now, I don't feel safe. I feel unsafe in the alley. I cannot work because I only thinking he going to come back.'
