WWE has a big LA Knight problem on its hands
SmackDown airs tonight (July 25) with a live show emanating from Rocket Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. This is the second episode of SmackDown during the three week build towards SummerSlam, which takes place on the weekend of August 2 & 3. There are still a lot of unanswered questions about what really happened with Seth Rollins' injury from a couple weeks ago at Saturday Night's Main Event. But regardless of which aspects of it are a shoot or a work, the bottom line is that LA Knight has no creative direction for SummerSlam now that Seth is on crutches and off WWE programming. The megastar does have some beef with Seth's henchmen Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker, but those guys already have their SummerSlam plates full with Roman Reigns and Jey Uso. The PLE is here in just eight days, so LA needs to find a new creative plan ASAP in order to land a match on the two-night card. The megastar pretty much has to address this problem on tonight's episode of SmackDown. Will he confront General Manager Nick Aldis and propose an idea like beating former TNA Champion Joe Hendry in three minutes at MetLife Stadium? Or will another heel on the SmackDown roster force the issue by getting involved in LA's business tonight? Could LA be thrown into Jacob Fatu's story against Solo Sikoa's MFTs? Tune into SmackDown tonight to see what WWE is cooking up for the megastar, if anything, at the biggest party of the summer. Jelly Roll is back on SmackDown this week to continue his SummerSlam celebrity angle with Randy Orton, Drew McIntyre, and YouTube douchebag Logan Paul. Roll has already taken one Claymore from McIntyre. Can Drew find a way to inflict even more punishment on Jelly tonight, or will RK-Roll send the heels packing? Andrade and Rey Fenix are the hottest tag team on the blue brand and have pretty much beaten all the non-champions. Now they go for the gold tonight against WWE Tag Team Champions Dexter Lumis and Joe Gacy of the Wyatt Sicks. Is it time for the Wyatts to demonstrate that Fenix and Andrade are nothing special, just like all the other teams they've dominated on SmackDown? Will former champions Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins try to ruin the end of this title match? Alexa Bliss has a singles match tonight against WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Roxanne Perez. Whose ringside ally (Charlotte Flair or Raquel Rodriguez, respectively) will make the bigger difference in helping their partner win ahead of the title match at SummerSlam? - WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton defends the gold against Jade Cargill at SummerSlam. This story has lost some steam now that Naomi is gone from SmackDown after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract at Evolution 2. Jade and Tiffany only got the video package treatment last week, so WWE needs to come up with a compelling in-ring angle for them tonight. - WWE Champion John Cena and Cody Rhodes are not both under one roof tonight, because Cena is a part-timer who has better things to do than appear on this episode of SmackDown. Will Rhodes cut a promo on his SummerSlam opponent and reveal that he changed their rematch to a Street Fight because now he can do Sonic Booms and Flash Kicks? - Damian Priest tried to beat the shit out of Carmelo Hayes last week, but he was instead laid out by Aleister Black once again. Will Priest vs. Black be made official for SummerSlam? - Is Stephanie Vaquer available tonight to beat another member of Chelsea Green's Secret Hervice? - United States Champion Solo Sikoa thought he was so smart last week when he staged a car crash in an attempt to get Jacob Fatu locked up by the police. Fatu had the last laugh when the video evidence caused Solo's plan to blow up in his face. What kind of convoluted scheme will Solo concoct tonight to target Jacob now that they are scheduled to battle over the belt inside a steel cage at SummerSlam? - Kiana James was spotted on last week's episode having a conversation with Women's United States Champion Giulia. Will we find out what they were talking about? - WWE legend Hulk Hogan died yesterday at 71 years old. He's arguably the biggest star in WWE history, so there will surely be an appropriate remembrance of Hulkamania during tonight's show. - Where the f*** is Shinsuke Nakamura? Roman Reigns Receives Big Offer Ahead Of WWE Summerslam. This Happens Next
Days ahead of Summerslam 2025, Roman Reigns declined Paul Heyman's proposal to join his new faction comprising of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, who seek new leadership in the absence of Seth Rollins. Rollins, who currently holds the men's Money in the Bank contract, seemingly injured his ankle during his match against LA Knight at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event earlier this month. However, it is not clear whether Rollins is actually injured as multiple reports have claimed that it might be a production masterclass from the WWE. On the penultimate Monday Night Raw (Tuesday IST) before Summerslam, Reigns went face-to-face with Heyman, who betrayed him, along with Breakker and Reed beside him. The former wiseman, uncharacteristically emotional, told Reigns he still loved his Tribal Chief and believed they could "fix this" together. Reigns, however, wasn't having any of it as he called Heyman a fool, thus rejection his offer to align with Breakker and Reed. The OTC also warned Breakker that Heyman would turn on him just like he did to him and others in the past. "You're not a Wiseman anymore you're just a dumba**," said Reigns. He also accused Heyman of ruining The Bloodline, while also acknowledging the likes of The Usos, Solo Sikoa, and Sami Zayn for helping him throughout his historic title reign. He once again called Heyman a dumba**. The OTC has SPOKEN! — WWE (@WWE) July 22, 2025 A furious Breakker took the mic told Reigns that he is the new top dog in WWE and asked him to do what he does best, "walk away". Reigns calmly handed the mic to Breakker before smashing him with a cheeky Superman Punch, followed by a trademark spear. Reigns tried to deal with both Breakker and Reed at the same time, but the numbers began to overwhelm him. As Reed was about to hit him with a Tsunami, Jey Uso's music hit and he charged to the ring to help out his cousin. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion hit both Breakker and Reed with a superkick each, allowing Reigns to regroup. Together, they hit dual spears Jey taking out Breakker while Roman crashed into Reed leaving Heyman's faction laid out. When it Reigns, it SPEARS! — WWE (@WWE) July 22, 2025 Reigns was also grooving to the "YEET" chants after he and Jey took out Breakker and Reed.

Conflicting Reports Surrounding Seth Rollins' Injury Status: Is It Legitimate?
Seth Rollins appeared to suffer a serious knee injury at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event over the weekend. But was the spot legitimate? In the closing moments of the match between Seth Rollins and LA Knight on Saturday Night's Main Event, Rollins appeared to injure his right knee, which he's had a history of issues with. After being checked on by the referee and Paul Heyman, the match went right into the finish, with LA Knight picking up the victory. While it was initially reported that Rollins' injury was legitimate, we now have conflicting reports that this might have been the plan all along. John Pollock of POST Wrestling is reporting that he was informed 48 hours ahead of Saturday Night's Main Event that an injury angle with Rollins would be taking place to put him on crutches heading into SummerSlam next month. 'Here is what I have been told, and I will just share what I was told,' John Pollock began. 'I was told two days before this to look out for an injury angle with Seth Rollins that would — it was even described to me, it would be an injury angle that gets him on crutches going into SummerSlam, something to that effect. 'So I was told this two days before the match happened. So the only possibilities here, if I had been told this the day after this had played, and someone is telling me this isn't real, I would certainly need more information than that. The fact is, I was told this in advance. So this person is not psychic. They are not Nostradamus. There are only two options here. Is that this was a work, or they were planning a work, and he really did get hurt. And I don't think that's the case either. Is another special Seth Rollins cash-in on the horizon? 'So I'm very confident that this is a storyline and this is going to play itself out. This part is just me speculating here, is that for Seth Rollins, his is probably the most like celebrated cash-in that WWE promotes with the big heist of the century, like he can't just do a normal cash-in, they have to do something that is going to shock people. And certainly, this is a way. And believe me, I have heard they are going to go to great lengths on this one. I think they're gonna try very hard to make everyone believe he's out. 'I can't speak for what they're telling other people, or how many people know. I'm just conveying what I was told by a very, very good source. It's not even a case of like trust or not trust. This happened as it was described to me 48 hours before the angle was executed. This is not a case of, well, maybe this will happen, maybe this won't. We see it happened, it happened as it was described to me.' A little bit of both? Following Pollock's report, Bryan Alvarez chimed in on the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio. Alvarez stated the mixed reports regarding Rollins right now stem from the fact that he is dealing with some sort of injury. However, it didn't occur in the match with Knight on Saturday. With the idea being that Rollins will be out of action for a bit, but will return much sooner than WWE suggests that he will. Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information regarding Seth Rollins' injury status as it becomes available. The news surrounding Seth Rollins' knee injury at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event continues to come into focus. Last weekend at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, Seth Rollins appeared to suffer a knee injury in his match against LA Knight. While things looked legitimate at first, it now appears that the spot was a well-orchestrated work. In the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer confirms a previous report from John Pollock that a plan was in place to do an injury angle with Rollins at Saturday Night's Main Event. The initial plan is scheduled to play out with Rollins cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase at SummerSlam. Rollins will reportedly cash in at some point during or after the World Championship match between Gunther and CM Punk. Is Seth Rollins' Injury Legitimate or a Masterclass in Action? Exploring the Possibilities
Images via WWE: Seth Rollins At the 40th edition of Saturday Night's Main Event, Seth Rollins injured his right knee while trying to perform a lionsault from the second rope and landing awkwardly on the feet. The match got an impromptu finish with LA Knight picking up a quick victory. There were reports of the injury being legitimate, with Triple H confirming the same at the Evolution 2 post-event presser. However, there has been an interesting development on that front. WWE is being extra silent on Seth Rollins' injury update New reports have emerged from Fightful Select, which is bringing into question the legitimacy of Rollins' condition. Moreover, there has been a band of conflicting information, with some staff members being unsure of the larger narrative. For the unversed, Rollins was recently spotted moving with the help of crutches at Evolution and appeared on the Rich Eisen Show that he will be out for the near future. Apart from this, the company is allegedly being extra silent on the matter to create confusion and add spice to the former World Champion's arc leading into SummerSlam. One backstage producer even termed it as 'Machiavellian' which suggested that a complex plan is in action for 'The Visionary'. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 21st Century Skills Start with Confident Communication Planet Spark Learn More Undo According to Ross Sapp, 'Producers, talent, and a number of staff are being told that Rollins' injury is legitimate, but there isn't a real solid detail on how long he could be out. Most everyone agrees that Rollins has some sort of injury, but there isn't a lot known on when he actually sustained it or if it was worked on Saturday Night's Main Event.' Is Seth Rollins Injury A WORK? WWE Talent 'Skeptical' | Scrapped SummerSlam Plans For the unversed, Wrestling Observer reported that Rollins had a legitimate injury way before SNME and needed time off anyway to deal with it. But that would not keep him out for long. As already mentioned, even WWE staff members are skeptical about the angle of this injury. Will Seth Rollins Return and Win the World Title at SummerSlam? It will be interesting to see if Rollins' injury will keep him out for a long period, or will this angle lead to something special at SummerSlam? The issue is that Rollins has had a legitimate knee injury and issues in the past. In November 2015, Rollins tore his MCL, ACL, and Meniscus during a house show match against Kane in Dublin. That incident forced 'The Architect' to miss WrestleMania 32 and also ended his first WWE title reign on a dismal note. Moreover, he even took time off after WrestleMania 40 to heal a knee injury after working on both nights of the PLE. Or if this angle is actually a scripted work, then maybe Rollins has something special for SummerSlam. Currently, CM Punk is set to face Gunther for the World Heavyweight Championship. The possible outcome could be Punk finally winning gold in WWE after 12 years and Rollins ruining his iconic moment by cashing his Money in the Bank briefcase. This could result in another 'Heist of the Century'. Either way, the promotion is tight-lipped on the matter, and it will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks.
