Long Beach police arrest sexual assault suspect, searching for more victims
The Long Beach Police Department arrested a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman on Tuesday. Officers booked Alvin Marbra, a 29-year-old homeless man, into jail for rape and two assault charges, according to the department. His bail was set at $100,000. The alleged sexual assault happened early in the morning on July 1 near the intersection of Alamitos Avenue and 4th Street. Detectives said Marbra approached a woman while she was walking around the area, knocked her unconscious and sexually assaulted her. Marbra left the scene before officers arrived. However, investigators used security camera footage to track him down. They found him about 10 hours later at 12:45 p.m. near the intersection of 4th Street and Cherry Avenue, roughly a mile away from the crime scene, according to Long Beach PD. "The work of the responding officers and handling detectives, coupled with our strategic use of technology and security video, allowed us to swiftly identify and arrest the suspect believed to be responsible for this heinous sexual assault," LBPD Chief Wally Hebeish said. 19-year-old Compton woman arrested for deadly Long Beach shooting
A 19-year-old Compton woman was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting in Long Beach in May, police said on Tuesday. The shooting happened at around 11 p.m. on May 27, when police were dispatched to the 200 block of Pacific Coast Highway near Locust Avenue, according to a release from the Long Beach Police Department. Upon arrival, they found the victim, since identified as 19-year-old Atwater resident Jordan Mosby suffering from a fatal gunshot wound to the upper body. He was declared dead at the scene. "Through their investigation, homicide detectives identified the suspect as Deriana Cole ... of Compton," said LBPD's release. Police said that Cole was already in custody at a city jail for an unrelated incident. She was rebooked on suspicion of murder on Monday and is being held in lieu of $2 million. Pedestrian dies after being struck by three cars in Long Beach
A man died on Saturday after he was struck by at least three cars in Long Beach, according to police. It happened at around 9:30 p.m., at which point officers were dispatched to the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and Falcon Avenue, according to a press release from the Long Beach Police Department. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, only identified as an adult male, lying in the road. He was declared dead at the scene. "The preliminary investigation revealed an unknown dark colored sedan was traveling eastbound on Ocean Boulevard when it struck an adult male pedestrian in a marked crosswalk," the release said. "The driver immediately fled the collision." Moment later, a second vehicle described as a 2016 BMW X3, struck the pedestrian who was lying in the roadway after the first impact. The driver "immediately pulled over" police said. They remained to cooperate with the investigation. A third car, also described as a dark colored sedan, then struck the pedestrian before immediately fleeing the scene, police said. "At this time speed and distracted driving are being considered as contributing factors in the collision involving the vehicles which fled the scene," said LBPD's release. 15-year-old boy sitting at bus stop killed in Long Beach crash
A 15-year-old boy sitting at a bus stop was killed after being struck by a car in Long Beach. On June 11, Long Beach police responded to a crash at Palo Verde Avenue and Carson Street shortly before 3 p.m. A preliminary investigation revealed that a driver in an Infiniti G37 sedan was traveling westbound on Carson Street when it ran a red light at the Palo Verde Avenue intersection. The Infiniti struck a Toyota Prius that was traveling southbound on Palo Verde Avenue. The impact caused the Infiniti sedan to overturn. The car skidded onto a sidewalk and struck the 15-year-old boy who was sitting at the bus stop. The boy was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries. The Infiniti driver was taken to the hospital in stable condition and the Prius driver was uninjured. 'At this time, speed appears to be a factor in the collision,' police said. The 15-year-old boy's identity was not released. The fatal crash remains under investigation. A 64-year-old California man was killed while teaching his teen daughter to drive, the Laguna Beach Police Department (LBPD) confirmed to Fox News Digital on Wednesday. LBPD also told Fox News Digital that the 15-year-old had a learner's permit. The fatal crash took place late Monday afternoon on the Golden State's Coast Highway. James Politoski was the only passenger in the vehicle, according to Fox 11, a Fox News affiliate.
