MACC remands 5 for submitting false documents in foreign worker permit applications
KUALA LUMPUR: Five people, including four company directors, have been remanded for allegedly submitting falsified documents in their applications for foreign worker permits in Selangor.
Magistrate Mohamad Redza Azhar Rezali granted a four-day remand order for all five suspects following a request by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) at the magistrate's court here today.
According to a source, the suspects comprise four men and one woman, aged 20s to 60s. One of them is a Bangladeshi national.
The source said they were arrested between 3pm and 6pm yesterday after giving their statements at the Selangor MACC office.
"The suspects are believed to have committed the offence through their respective companies between 2023 and 2024.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that they submitted applications for the Labour Recalibration Programme 2.0 to the Selangor Immigration Department with false details, intending to mislead the authorities," the source said.
Selangor MACC director Hairuzam Mohmad Amin@Hamim confirmed the arrests and said the case was being investigated under Section 18 of the MACC Act 2009.
He said three other individuals arrested yesterday were released due to health reasons after their statements were taken.
