The search for an individual who fell off their boat into the Mississippi River is now a recovery operation, according to police.
Ontario Provincial Police say the individual fell overboard while fishing below the Appleton Dam near Appleton, Ont. shortly before 9 p.m. on Saturday.
'The dam was shut down and Lanark OPP conducted a search of the area using a civilian boat as well as an OPP Marine Unit boat,' the OPP said on X.
'Some of the individual's belongings were recovered.'
Police said the search resumed Sunday morning with the assistance of an OPP drone.
'Unfortunately, the investigation has now turned to recovery,' police said, adding the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit will assist with the investigation.
