Tony Buzbee, the attorney of the woman who filed the lawsuit, confirms to PEOPLE that he and Sharpe's lawyers have 'reached a mutually agreed upon resolution." 'Both sides acknowledge a long-term consensual and tumultuous relationship,' he said. 'After protracted and respectful negotiations, I'm pleased to announce that we have reached a mutually agreed upon resolution.' 'All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed. The lawsuit will thus be dismissed with prejudice,' Buzbee added. Sharpe's attorney, Lanny Davis, declined to comment on the case when reached for comment by PEOPLE. In April, Sharpe, 57, was accused of rape and sexual assault in a lawsuit filed by a woman identified in court documents obtained by PEOPLE as 'Jane Doe.' The woman requested $50 million in damages and alleged that the former ESPN host raped her on multiple occasions over the course of a nearly two-year "rocky consensual relationship." She also claimed that Sharpe recorded their sexual encounters without her consent and shared the recordings with others. Sharpe's attorney denied the allegations at the time in a statement to PEOPLE. He described the lawsuit as a shakedown attempt and claimed that the relationship between the woman and Sharpe was consensual. "Mr. Sharpe categorically denies all allegations of coercion or misconduct — especially the gross lie of 'rape' — and will not submit to what he sees as an egregious attempt at blackmail," Davis said. "He stands firmly by the truth and is prepared to fight these false claims vigorously in court. He looks forward to vindication through due process and a judgment based on the facts and the law." After the lawsuit, Sharpe announced that he was 'electing to step aside temporarily' from his 'ESPN duties' amid the allegations. 'I will be devoting this time to my family, and responding and dealing with these false and disruptive allegations set against me. I plan to return to ESPN at the start of the NFL preseason," the former football player said. ESPN said in a statement to Variety at the time that the network agreed with Sharpe's decision to step aside, stating, "This is a serious situation." Sharpe spent his NFL career with the Denver Broncos and the Baltimore Ravens, winning three Super Bowls. Following his retirement, he became a sports media personality. Shannon Sharpe Settles Lawsuit Accusing Him of Rape

Shannon Sharpe, the podcast host, sports media personality and former N.F.L. star who was accused of rape by a former sexual partner, has settled her lawsuit for undisclosed terms, according to the woman's lawyer. The lawyer, Tony Buzbee, said on social media on Thursday that both parties agreed that the sexual relationship was consensual, and that the lawsuit would be dismissed. The woman, who filed the complaint anonymously, had sought $50 million in damages. Mr. Sharpe's lawyer has said that before the lawsuit was filed, he had discussed offering her at least $10 million. 'Both sides acknowledge a long-term consensual and tumultuous relationship,' Mr. Buzbee said in a statement. 'After protracted and respectful negotiations, I'm pleased to announce that we have reached a mutually agreed upon resolution. All matters have now been addressed satisfactorily, and the matter is closed.' Mr. Buzbee did not respond to a request for comment. A representative for Mr. Sharpe, 56, declined to comment. The woman, who is described as being in her early 20s, filed a lawsuit in April claiming that Mr. Sharpe had raped her in her apartment on two recent occasions. Lanny Davis, a lawyer who was representing Mr. Sharpe at the time, denied the allegations and released graphic text messages that he said depicted a 'consensual, adult relationship that included role-playing, sexual language, and fantasy scenarios explicitly requested' by the woman, whom he named. Mr. Sharpe won three Super Bowls as a tight end with the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens and has become a media personality since his retirement after the 2003 season. His interview-based podcast 'Club Shay Shay' grew in popularity after an episode last year with the comedian Katt Williams, and he is also a commentator on 'First Take,' ESPN's morning debate show. But Mr. Sharpe has not appeared on ESPN since April, when he announced he would step back until the start of the N.F.L. preseason to deal with what he called 'false and disruptive allegations.' An ESPN spokesman declined to comment regarding Mr. Sharpe's status. Throughout the legal process, Mr. Sharpe continued to host 'Club Shay Shay' and his secondary podcast, 'Nightcap.'

Update revealed in Shannon Sharpe's bombshell sexual assault lawsuit as hearing fast approaches

It's been months since Pro Football Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe was slapped with a sexual assault lawsuit. The tight end's legal team has yet to file an official response. Sharpe was accused by a woman filing as 'Jane Doe' of assault, sexual assault, battery, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress with a woman in her 20s with whom he had a nearly two-year relationship. The media star and former three-time Super Bowl champion has repeatedly denied the claims. However, his legal team has yet to file an official response to the complaint, according to Pro Football Talk. Proceedings on three different motions are set to take place on July 9 after having been re-scheduled from June 30. PFT noted that responses are typically completed within 30 days of being served and that extensions are typically granted out of courtesy among lawyers. Sharpe's legal team did not immediately return request for comment. Lanny Davis, the lawyer representing Sharpe, told reporters in April that the former Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens star would be filing a counterclaim against the woman. Davis also said that Sharpe previously offered the woman 'at least $10million' to settle the case and claimed it was a 'big surprise' when the case was filed. Ms. Doe is being represented by Tony Buzzbee - the lawyer who litigated on behalf of more than 20 woman who accused NFL quarterback Deshaun Watson of sexual assault back in 2021. The plaintiff is alleging that Sharpe assaulted her multiple times at the end of 2024 and into the beginning of 2025. The suit led to Sharpe taking a step back from his appearances on ESPN. It's unclear if Sharpe will be making a return to the company's airwaves. Sharpe also ended up cancelling a nationwide tour for his 'Nightcap' podcast that was planned for this summer. 'We've decided to postpone the Nightcap tour,' Sharpe said in a May episode of the podcast. 'We look forward to seeing you guys in the summer of 2026. It's going to be even bigger, even better. 'But Ocho and I have come to the conclusion that this is the best thing as of right now, was to postpone the tour. We look forward to seeing each and every one of you in 2026.'
