Instructions were given to village administrators to set up office systems. Alongside conducting the death certificate campaign, officials were directed to submit weekly reports. Greater attention was called for the disposal of pending court case files. She also suggested curbing the menace of intermediaries, and officials were instructed to conduct the pension campaign without causing inconvenience to the public. Kumari advised protecting govt properties, and maintenance of govt buildings was emphasised. Steps were instructed to remove encroachments on govt assets. An integrated public grievance redressal system was implemented by the govt to allow farmers, the public, and rural citizens to file complaints if they did not receive the benefits of social, educational, commercial, and agricultural activities from various departments within the stipulated period. The integrated public grievance system is available on the Janaspandana portal. Citizens can directly file their grievances through this system. The reserved 1902 helpline for the integrated public grievance system is also available to citizens. Even from remote villages without internet access, the public can call the 1902 helpline to register complaints or grievances. In addition to these, the govt directed the organisation of the Janaspandana programme at district and taluk levels to provide a platform for the public to submit their grievances and resolve issues. Srinath, another resident, claimed that although the initiative is good, the authorities must ensure effective implementation of the programme. Officials said people can register their complaints online at or and through app at

Holiday declared for anganwadis in Malnad

Hassan/Chikkamagaluru: Chikkamagaluru and Hassan districts continue to witness heavy rain, prompting authorities to declare holidays for anganwadi centres in the Malnad taluks of both districts on Wednesday. Sringeri in Chikkamagaluru received the highest rain of 77 mm, while Hettur in Sakleshpura in Hassan district received 180 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. Rain caused damages in both districts on Tuesday and Wednesday. Nearly 100 metres of retaining walls constructed along National Highway-75 between Anemahal and Donigal in Sakleshpur taluk were washed away. The concrete road built a few days ago alongside the highway also developed cracks. People are concerned that the retaining wall might collapse if the rain intensifies. In the Malnad region of Chikkamagaluru district, NH-169 connecting Sringeri to Mangaluru was blocked after a landslide near Nemmar, close to Sringeri. However, the NHAI authorities managed to clear the mud, allowing movement of vehicles. The road was blocked a week ago following the landslip. Now, the authorities have stationed excavators to attend to emergencies. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Get Tirzepatide Online in Martinez Direct Meds Order Now Undo A tree was uprooted due to strong winds and rain near the Basarikall checkpoint in Kalasa taluk. Collector steps in to address tribal issues in Thiruvananthapuram's Podiyakkala hamlet

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: To address a slew of issues faced by the tribal community in Thiruvananthapuram, the district administration has started interventions. District Collector Anu Kumari visited the Podiyakkala tribal hamlet in Vithura grama panchayat on Sunday. The collector interacted with the residents to evaluate their living conditions and address their concerns. 'The major issue they raised was the man-animal conflicts,' Anu Kumari told TNIE. People are at risk of attacks by elephants, bisons and wild boars. Though trenches have been dug to prevent such incidents, their irregular maintenance remains a shortcoming. 'I have instructed the officials to take up effective maintenance. We will have support from the NABARD team also, as digging trenches in hard and rocky areas cannot be carried out by forest officials alone,' she said. Anu Kumari also visited the homes of two victims of animal attacks. 'We faced two wild animal attacks in the past two years,' said Peppara ward member Latha Kumari, adding that wild animals destroy their crops, mainly bananas and tapioca. 'The authorities have ensured the distribution of drinking water to 75 families in the hamlet,' Latha said. She stated that the issue of dilapidated roads in the area was also raised in the meeting with the collector, which is expected to be resolved immediately. Another major issue raised was the increased student dropouts post Plus II, for which the collector directed to identify job-oriented training courses that can be provided to the students. 'I was very happy to see that the basic amenities at Podiyakkala, including ration distribution, healthcare administration, etc were functioning properly,' the collector said. She also interacted with the tribal chieftain during the visit. The panchayat member added that monthly health check-ups, travel facilities for tribal students under the 'Vidyavahini' scheme, etc have also been effectively functioning. The collector visited the hamlets with officials from tribal, education, forest, health, water and local self-government departments.
