‘90s country star's teeth fall out on stage: ‘The show must go on'

1990s country music icon LeAnn Rimes decided to get real with her fans about an experience she found hugely embarrassing. 'OK, so we're going to do a little story time about how the show must go on,' Rimes begins in a TikTok video posted this week. The 42-year-old star, who got started in country music at just the age of 13, reminded fans that she has had multiple dental surgeries and that she has a bridge in the front. 'Last night I was on stage in the middle of 'One Way Ticket' when something popped in my mouth,' she said of a show she was performing in Bow, Washington, at Skagit Valley Casino and Resort. 'And it fell out in the middle of my song last night.' The 'How Do I Live' singer said her first reaction was to panic. She ran to the side of the stage and popped the bridge back into her mouth. 'I just had to get real with everybody and tell them exactly what was happening or else I would have had to walk off stage.' For the rest of the show, she said she was pushing her teeth back in every few lines, and she said she never before realized how many 'ff,' 'th' and 'sh' sounds are in her music before. 'That was the most epic experience ever. I don't usually have firsts in my career,' she said. 'That was a first and hopefully a last.' Rimes is an international multi-platinum selling singer, who has sold nearly 50 million albums and won two Grammy Awards — one of which she won at the age of 14 — and more than a dozen other awards. Rimes said she hoped that others would draw strength from her story and understand that the show can go on, even in the face of 'sheer, utter embarrassment.' 'And you know what, just like I said, there wasn't a (expletive) thing I could do about it, except either walk off or just hold my teeth in. So I just ran with it.' LeAnn Rimes' Teeth Fell Out Mid-Song, And She Spent The Rest Of Her Show Pushing Them In

LeAnn Rimes is speaking out after a dental malfunction nearly derailed one of her recent concerts. The two-time Grammy winner was performing at Skagit Casino Resort in Bow, Washington, last week when her front dental bridge unexpectedly fell out, prompting her to abruptly exit the stage to address the situation. Rimes recounted the experience Sunday in a candid video shared on her social media platforms. 'I was onstage, and in the middle of 'One Way Ticket,' I feel something pop in my mouth,' she explained. 'And if you've been around, you know I've had a lot of dental surgeries, and I have a bridge in the front, and it fell out in the middle of my song.' Though Rimes said she initially 'panicked,' she nonetheless handled the situation like a pro ― even if she later found it challenging to perform her signature hit, 'Can't Fight the Moonlight,' because of the number of F's and T's in the song's lyrics. 'And then I just had to get real with everybody and tell them exactly what was happening, or else I would have had to walk offstage. For the rest of the show, I was literally like this, pushing my teeth in, like every couple lines, and singing.' 'I don't usually have firsts in my career. That was a first and hopefully a last,' she added, before playfully warning her future audiences: 'Get ready for something to fly out. If you catch them, please return them.' Rimes' admission drew a slew of well wishes from some of her famous pals, including fellow musician Richard Marx and actor Mary Steenburgen. 'Love you even more for this. The show must … go on!!' wrote 'Grey's Anatomy' actor Jessica Capshaw. Rimes, who is set to appear on ABC's '911: Nashville' later this year, has been outspoken about her dental issues in the past. According to Billboard, the singer-songwriter has undergone dental surgery a total of 29 times. In 2013, she filed a malpractice lawsuit against a former dentist, citing 'severe tooth pain, gum inflammation and chronic gum bleeding' that she said stemmed from failed crowns and veneers. 'And if you've been around, you know I've had a lot of dental surgeries and I have a bridge in the front, and it fell out in the middle of my song last night.' Rather than cancel the show, the 42-year-old performer made a swift recovery, rejoining her band onstage and finishing the set while discreetly attempting to push her bridge back into place between lines. 'I literally was like this, pushing my teeth in,' she said, demonstrating the gesture. ''Can't Fight the Moonlight,' the teeth completely fell in my mouth.' Despite the unexpected interruption, Rimes took the moment in stride, calling it 'the most epic experience ever.' 'There wasn't a f—ing thing I could do about it except either walk off or just hold my teeth in and sing, so I just ran with it,' she said. 'The show can go on, even in the midst of sheer, utter embarrassment. You just gotta be real with people.' Rimes, who has long been open about her dental struggles, including a history of botched dental work that has required 29 surgeries, previously filed a malpractice lawsuit in 2013 against her former dentist, citing chronic pain and complications from failed veneers. In her Instagram update, she jokingly warned the front row of that evening's second show at the same venue to be on alert: 'If you catch them, please return them.' As of now, Rimes says her teeth are 'in for now,' adding that the whole ordeal was an unforgettable reminder that anything can happen live, and the only option is to power through with humor and honesty. The singer's dental bridge became detached whilst she was performing. LeAnn Rimes had to rush offstage during a concert after her teeth fell out as she was performing. The singer was in the middle of singing a song at the Skagit Casino Resort in Washington when her dental bridge became detached. Later, the I Need You star took to social media to own up to the bizarre mishap. ‌ She told her fans in a video posted on Instagram on Saturday: 'Last night I was on stage, in the middle of [singing] One Way Ticket. ‌ 'I feel something pop in my mouth. And if you've been around, you know I've had a lot of dental surgeries and I have a bridge in the front and it fell out in the middle of my song last night.' The pop star, 42, said she 'panicked' before running to the side of the stage to secure her prosthetic teeth and swiftly returned back to the microphone. 'Then I just had to get real with everybody and tell them exactly what was happening or else I would have had to walk off stage,' she continued. 'And so, for the rest of the show, I was literally like this, pushing my teeth in.' Rimes said she had to push her teeth back in 'every couple lines' while she singing her tunes and noted that it was in that moment she realised her song, Can't Fight the Moonlight, had several Fs, THs, and SHs. 'Like, Can't Fight the Moonlight, [the teeth] completely fell in my mouth,' she recalled. ‌ Fortunately, Rimes laughed off the dental disaster and even called it 'the most epic experience ever.' 'I don't usually have firsts in my career. That was a first and hopefully a last,' she said. Rimes hoped her teeth would stay in for her performance at the same venue later that night. ‌ 'We shall see,' she said before joking, 'The front row, get ready for something to fly out. 'Like I said, there wasn't a f–king thing I could do about it except either walk off, or just hold my teeth in and sing, so I just ran with it,' she said. 'The show can go on, even in the midst of sheer, utter embarrassment. You just gotta be real with people.' ‌ As for the status of her faulty dental bridge, Rimes said 'It's all good.'
