Car Deal of the Day: Hyundai Inster is cute, charming and cheap at just £175 a month

Cutesy styling 229-mile range; easy to drive Just £174.12 a month Not that long ago you could count the number of affordable small electric cars on the fingers of one hand. But now that's changing fast, and in recent months a whole wave of pint-sized EVs has arrived to cater for people on a relatively low budget. Advertisement - Article continues below Easily one of the most charming of this new crop of cheaper EVs is the Hyundai Inster. It's a Renault 5 and Fiat Grande Panda EV rival, and just as charismatic; it's also a bit of a bargain right now. Scouring the Auto Express Find a Car service, we found Lease Car UK is offering the cutesy Inster for just £174.12 a month right now. It's a three-year deal that requires a £2,437.44 initial payment, while mileage is capped at 5,000 a year. Rather amazingly you can bump this up to 8,000 miles per annum for only around a fiver extra a month. The Inster line-up is easy to get your head around, given that there are just three models – 01, 02 and Cross – and two battery sizes to choose from. With this deal you get the entry-level 01 but, very impressively, you nab the largest of the batteries on offer. Skip advert Advertisement - Article continues below The 49kWh 'Long Range' battery brings a claimed range of 229 miles, and if you live in the city and only travel short distances, you could likely cover 100 more miles than that before needing to top up. Power comes from a 113bhp electric motor, which serves up 0-62mph in 10.6 seconds – not outrageously fast, but plenty quick enough for most everyday driving situations. The entry-level 01 brings a 10.25-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a rear-view camera and parking sensors, heated and power-fold mirrors, along with 15-inch alloys. Surprisingly, a heat pump and a battery-heating system are thrown in, too. The Inster is a strict four-seater, but the interior is pretty roomy considering the car's dinky dimensions. That boxy shape means visibility is excellent, and overall the car is easy and very comfortable to drive. Car Deal of the Day: best-selling Ford Puma ST-Line for only £190 per month

Great-handling small SUV Sportier look courtesy of ST-Line trim Only £190 per month The Ford Puma has been the UK's best-selling car since 2023, and there are no signs the recently refreshed small SUV will relinquish that title, because more than 26,000 examples have left showrooms in the past six months alone. It's easy to understand why, though, especially when the sporty-looking version is available from just £190 per month. This three-year lease deal for the Ford Puma ST-Line is being offered by Lease Car UK through the Auto Express Find A Car service. It requires a fairly reasonable initial payment of £2,639, followed by monthly payments of £190, and includes a standard annual mileage allowance of 5,000 miles per year. Advertisement - Article continues below Of course, plenty of people cover more miles than that in a year, but increasing the annual limit to 10,000 miles costs only £22 extra each month. Even with the allowance pushed all the way up to 12,000 miles, the same Puma ST-Line is available from £233 per month. Inside, the Puma features a 12.8-inch instrument panel, and a massive 12-inch central touchscreen that's running Ford's latest infotainment system, but also comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. There's enough space for adults in the back, plus a 456-litre boot for all your stuff, including a 68-litre 'Megabox' beneath the boot floor that can be rinsed out, which is handy if you've got muddy walking boots. In ST-Line specification, the Puma comes with a bodykit and sports suspension, 17-inch rims, those large dual displays, LED headlights, reversing camera, keyless entry and start, cruise control and various safety systems. Meanwhile, under the bonnet is a 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine that uses 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, and is paired with a six-speed manual gearbox. The 123bhp and 170Nm of torque are good for 0-62mph in 9.6 seconds, while Ford claims the powertrain can return up to 52.3mpg. Car Deal of the Day: Peugeot 208 GT is a sharp supermini for less than £180 a month

High-spec GT model Good to drive; more than 50mpg Just £175.53 a month Small hatchbacks don't come much more striking than the Peugeot 208. The French firm's dinkiest model is six years old now, but one look at its distinctive and upmarket styling and you wouldn't think it. It's a pretty premium-feeling car as a whole that comes with a remarkably low price tag. Advertisement - Article continues below How low? Well, how does less than £180 a month sound? Lease Car UK is offering the high-spec supermini for £175.53 right now; a £2,454.36 initial payment is required and it's a two-year agreement. Mileage is capped at 5,000 a year, but you can nudge this up to a far more flexible 8,000 per annum for less than £18 extra a month. The GT model was, until recently, the flagship 208, but a new range-topping GT Premium version joined the line-up around a month ago. Mind you, GT spec is not to be sniffed at, and its spec includes: LED headlights with Smartbeam assist, LED rear lights and Peugeot's trademark i-Cockpit with 3D display for the dials. There are also 17-inch diamond-cut alloys, a black roof, plus smart leather-effect and cloth seats with bold lime-green stitching. The 208 comes with the choice of two mild-hybrid 1.2-litre petrol options, and here you get the most powerful version. With 134bhp, performance is suitably punchy, surprisingly refined and very economical, with more than 50mpg easily achievable. It may have a GT badge on the C-pillar, but to say it's a sporty driving experience would be a bit of an exaggeration. Still, the 208's small steering wheel and responsive chassis do add up to an enjoyable drive. Central Contracts strengthens OEM partnerships

Central Contracts, the independent leasing broker trading as has announced a series of strengthened partnerships with major motor manufacturers, resulting in improved offers for its customers. Through closer collaboration with OEMs such as Kia, Toyota, and Stellantis, the company has gained access to enhanced vehicle stock, better pricing, and shorter lead times on high-demand models. According to the business, 75% of its volume over the past 12 months has come through direct manufacturer agreements, contributing to what it describes as a record year. The company has also maintained an average customer renewal rate of 45%, which it attributes to improved communication and service levels. Gareth Roberts, strategy director at Central Contracts, said the improved customer proposition is the result of a long-term strategy to engage more closely with manufacturers. 'We are now in a position to offer more competitive leasing options by building stronger OEM relationships and delivering on expectations,' he said. The company also points to broader market conditions as contributing factors. While the BVRLA reports a slight decline in the overall leasing broker fleet, Central Contracts has seen continued growth, particularly in the personal contract hire (PCH) segment. The recent interest rate cut has further supported consumer affordability. 'At a time when many consumers are managing tighter budgets, the lower interest rate environment enables us to offer more value,' Roberts added. Central Contracts says it expects its OEM partnerships to play a key role in future growth, supporting both customer acquisition and retention through improved vehicle availability and pricing. Car Deal of the Day: Under £195 a month for a high-spec SUV

Easy to drive; plush interior Hybrid power; more than 55mpg Just £193.62 a month With their higher driving position, easier entry, and (sometimes) greater levels of interior space, it's easy to see why many families favour SUVs over conventional hatchbacks. Throw in cheap lease deals and it's often game, set and match. Advertisement - Article continues below That's true with the MG ZS, which is one of the cheapest small SUVs available on lease right now. Lease Car UK is offering the ZS for a minuscule £193.62 a month after an initial payment of £2,671.44. It's a 48-month agreement with a 5,000-miles-a-year cap, but bumping this up to a more reasonable 8,000 miles a year will only cost an extra £13.66 a month. The latest ZS is a vast improvement on its predecessor, which really carried its value-for-money feeling with pride. It now has an interior that seems surprisingly plush at this price point, with a higher-quality feel than an equivalent Ford Puma. The tech is good, with the standard-fit 12.3-inch touchscreen being a real highlight. Even better, this deal is for the top-spec Trophy model, which adds a 360-degree parking camera, heated front seat and steering wheel, rear privacy glass, and smart 'leather-style' upholstery. The last ZS came in petrol and EV power, but the current car is hybrid-only (for now). With the petrol engine and electric motor combined there's 194bhp on offer, which gives the ZS some real get-up-and-go. Plus, economy of more than 55mpg is on the table. While a Ford Puma is far more fun through corners, the ZS has an easygoing character, which will be fine for most buyers.
