French luxury fashion house Chanel's first Indian-origin CEO, Leena Nair, was awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire by Prince William. The award, referred to as the CBE, is part of the 2025 King's New Year's Honours list, which celebrates individuals for their exceptional service or accomplishments in the award was bestowed upon her in recognition of her contributions to the retail and consumer India-born businesswoman dedicated the honour to the Chanel team, her family, and mentors. Her mission will be to drive the house's reputation strategy and amplify its voice worldwide. A graduate of Manchester University, Ruth Warder has spent her entire career in the communications sector, first with the English group Freuds and its PR agency Freud Communications, then with events agency GSP Events and from 2003 with PR and marketing agency Jackie Cooper, where she spent 10 years as managing director. In 2013, she joined leading American communications agency Edelman, where she held a series of senior positions, culminating in her appointment as CEO for the UK and Ireland and president for the EMEA region.
