Market Cap of Euro Stablecoins Surges to Nearly $500M as EUR/USD Rivals Bitcoin's H1 Gains

The Euro-U.S. dollar exchange (EUR/USD), the world's most liquid foreign exchange pair, has surged 12.88% in the first half, outperforming Nasdaq and S&P 500 and nearly rivaling bitcoin BTC 14.8% rise, according to data source TradingView. The strength of the euro has increased the appeal of stablecoins with values pegged to the euro. The cumulative market cap of 21 euro-pegged stablecoins tracked by data source Coingecko has increased 44% from $310 million to $480 million. Leading the growth is the U.S.-listed Circle's EURC stablecoin, whose market cap has increased by 138% to $200.36 million. "One of my best trades this year was to move my entire stablecoin stack from USDC/USDT into a Euro-denominated stablecoin like EURC. Up 13% in dollar value in less than 5 months," Legendary, the pseudonymous host of The Modern Market Show, announced on X. While the demand for euro-pegged stablecoins has increased, their combined market cap remains less than 1% of that of dollar-pegged stablecoins, which boast a cumulative market value of $254.88 billion. EUR/USD has risen from 1.0354 to nearly 1.17, hitting the highest since September 2021. The upswing is characterized by a breakdown in the correlation between the exchange rate and the differential between the Fed and ECB interest rates, as well as a broad-based shift away from the US dollar. The 90-day correlation coefficient between EUR/USD and bitcoin has recently jumped to 0.62, the highest since February 2024, indicating a moderate positive correlation between the two. Legendary's "Street Fighter" Adds Callina Liang As Chun-Li

Yara Sameh Callina Liang, star of the critically acclaimed supernatural thriller "Presence", has been tapped to play the female lead role of Chun-Li in Legendary's live-action Street Fighter movie, based on the video games from Capcom. One of the most iconic characters in the franchise, Chun-Li, is a skilled martial artist and Interpol officer who first appeared in Street Fighter II in 1991. Liang joins a cast that includes the previously announced Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck. Bad Trip's Kitao Sakurai is the flick's director. The games are often centered around a global fighting tournament organized by M. Bison, the leader of the evil organization Shadaloo. Street Fighter has sold over 55 million units worldwide since its launch, making it one of the most well-known and highest-grossing video game franchises of all time. Liang stars opposite Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, and more in Steven Soderbergh's critically acclaimed "Presence", which was released in January via Neon, around a year after its world premiere at Sundance. Callina Liang tapped to play Chun-Li in live-action ‘Street Fighter' reboot

Callina Liang, known for her recent performance in Steven Soderbergh's Presence, has been cast as Chun-Li in Legendary Entertainment's upcoming live-action adaptation of Street Fighter, sources confirmed to Deadline. Liang steps into the role of one of the franchise's most iconic characters, and marks a major addition to the film's ensemble. Directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip), the film is based on the long-running and globally successful video game series from Capcom. While plot details remain under wraps, the casting of Chun-Li — a fan-favorite character and skilled Interpol agent — signals a faithful approach to the source material. Chun-Li made her debut in Street Fighter II in 1991 and quickly became a symbol of strength and agility in the fighting game community. Liang joins a growing cast that includes Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck. The film aims to reboot the Street Fighter franchise for a new generation of fans, likely centered around the infamous fighting tournament featured in the games. Launched in 1987, Street Fighter has become one of the best-selling video game franchises in history, with over 55 million copies sold worldwide. Its rich roster of characters has led to numerous adaptations over the years, though Legendary's version is expected to bring a fresh vision to the property. Liang has been gaining recognition for her recent performances, including her role in Presence alongside Lucy Liu and Chris Sullivan. Her credits also include the thriller Bad Genius and the Apple TV series Foundation. Legendary has yet to officially confirm the casting or announce a release date.

Law Roach returns to the runway — Project Runway

Law Roach is so booked and busy, he must have the power to bend space and time. The celebrity stylist and self-described 'image architect' is constantly adding to his résumé and A-list clientele. This year at the Met Gala alone, he dressed six luminaries — Zendaya, Jeremy Pope, Angela Bassett, Cardi B, André 3000, and Tyla — and consulted on styling choices for the Burberry table at the annual fundraiser for the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute. On top of his stylist work, Roach has made a name in the television world as a judge on reality show competitions like RuPaul's Drag Race and HBO's ballroom show, Legendary. As if he's not busy enough, the celebrity stylist was announced as a judge on season 21 of Project Runway, which is set to premiere July 31 on Disney+, Freeform, and Hulu. It is fitting that one of Hollywood's premier fashion consultants is now a judge on a show centered around finding the next prominent designer — alongside Heidi Klum, Christian Siriano, and Elle's editor in chief, Nina Garcia. Aside from forming a tight-knit friendship with Siriano and working with Garcia professionally, Roach says he was excited about the opportunity to join the seasoned fashion veterans. Nina Garcia and Law Roach are judges on Project Runway season 21Disney/Spencer Pazer 'It just felt like the right time to enter a space that felt really familiar because I grew up watching that show,' he says. 'I remember watching Christian's season when he won, so it felt like a full-circle moment to be invited to be a judge.' Being a stylist is what makes Roach a captivating judge on these panels. But it's not only his impeccable eye for beauty that makes him a fan favorite; he's also funny. His critiques aren't crass or shiftless, and they come with his signature charm. 'When I'm on television, I get to show a small part of myself that is quick-witted and sassy, things I don't do in my professional life,' Roach says. 'This gives me a chance to be expressive in a different way.' Whether it's critiquing on Project Runway or Drag Race, his approach is the same. 'RuPaul's Drag Race is a talent show that includes fashion, and Project Runway is a fashion show with great talent,' the stylist explains. 'What makes me excited about Project Runway is that I'm looking at the next generation of Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs and being able to meet those talents at the ground level.' The foundation of his career, he says, was built on working with newer talent and emerging brands, so getting to share his experiences and give real-world advice is something he's proud to do. EASTON SCHIRRA The connections Roach has formed over the past decade of working in the fashion industry are why he cut his retirement short. In March 2023, the image architect announced in an Instagram post that he had retired from styling. But at the 2025 Fashion Trust Awards in April, Roach revealed he was making his foray back into styling with his new muse, actress Ryan Destiny. He's spoken in various media appearances about his focus on working with his two main clients, Zendaya and Dion. But it was his love for fashion that brought him back to the styling world. 'I just had so much FOMO seeing these beautiful new collections by designers that I call my friends,' Roach explains. Not being able to touch, see, or use the clothes outside the fashion shows made him feel like he wasn't living up to his true potential, using his 'only God-given talent.' With an achievement list as long as his, it's hard to wonder what else Roach is striving for — but he says there's still much more he wants to do. One of his biggest goals is doing more scripted television. Earlier this year, he had a cameo as himself in the Kate Hudson Netflix series Running Point, and he says he wants to continue flexing that muscle. As for future celebrity clients, Roach believes the universe determines which people and opportunities come into his life and when, so there's no point in forcing anything. 'Everything happens organically, and I hope to keep it that way.' Out— or download the issue now through Apple News, Zinio, Nook, or PressReader. Wicked Gnarly Full Trailer For The Remake of Troma's THE TOXIC AVENGER — GeekTyrant

We've got an insnae new trailer to share with you today for the remake of Troma's The Toxic Avenger , and it's gnarly, bloody, crazy, and totally badass! The trailer offers our best look yet at the film and the bonkers story that it's going to tell. It even shows us Toxi's transformation and shows off some of the wild ultra violence! This movie is going to be a ton of fun to watch, and I can tell you, it will probably be best expereinced in a theater filled with fellow fans! In the film, When a downtrodden janitor, Winston Gooze (Peter Dinklage), is exposed to a catastrophic toxic accident, he's transformed into a new kind of hero: The Toxic Avenger. Now, Toxie must rise from outcast to savior, taking on ruthless corporate overlords and corrupt forces who threaten his son, his friends, and his community. In a world where greed runs rampant… justice is best served radioactive.' The film is directed by Macon Blairwho previously said the film's gore as ' Itchy & Scratchy -type violence,' referencing The Simpsons ' over-the-top cartoon brutality. He reveals, 'We've got a guy that gets his head stuffed in a car engine and it kind of grinds his head up. That was a gag I was fond of.' Blair admits he was surprised by how far the studio let him push the insanity: 'I kept expecting Legendary to say, 'This is not what we want,' but they kept agreeing to the things I pitched.' His goal is to 'Embrace the silliness and trashiness, while wanting it to be an enjoyable, crowd-pleasing, rock'n'roll fun time.' The filmmaker added: 'It's practical effects. You can see all the goopy little boils and stuff like that. And we definitely stayed true to some of the really iconic elements: the tutu that's melted onto his body, the janitor's mop as his super weapon.' While Dinklage stars as the toxic hero, it's actor and movement artist Luisa Guerreiro who actually brings the mutated character to life under layers of practical effects. Dinklage himself is eager for audiences to experience it, saying, 'I do want it to get out there into the world because it was a really big hit at Fantastic Fest in Austin, and Macon Blair, the writer/director who is also in The Thicket ... He's incredible. He's one of my favorite people and favorite artists. So hopefully it will have its day in the toxic sun.' Alongside Dinklage, the film boasts an impressive cast, including Elijah Wood, Julia Davis, Taylour Paige, Kevin Bacon, and Jacob Tremblay. The movie is set to hit theaters on August 29.
