Edward Cheang's top pick: Pacific Rim
Do you have a book, movie or show recommendation? Send us your top picks using this form . I recommend the film Pacific Rim. It is exciting and full of adventure. Watch this movie and discover a battle between kaiju (giant monsters) and robots. Released in 2013, Pacific Rim is a film about kaiju coming to Earth. You will witness man-made robots, as big as the kaiju, fighting using different weapons to defend Earth. I highly recommend this movie to people who enjoy watching fights, action and monsters because it keeps the viewer hooked. Pacific Rim has a sequel called Pacific Rim: Uprising. This second movie also has a wonderful storyline. The film franchise also has an animated television series which creates a richer and deeper story for fans. My favourite robot fighter – which are called Jaegers in the film – is Striker Eureka. This Jaeger is powerful and has a lot of weapons that can be used to kill a kaiju. Striker Eureka also has six barrels that store anti-kaiju missiles. It also has two blades on each hand. The robot is very fast and strong. Even if you watch it today, Pacific Rim remains a great film. You can watch it in Hong Kong on Netflix and HBO Max.

Roman Reigns Confirmed For Street Fighter Movie Role
Roman Reigns is getting ready to (street) fight. Reigns was rumored to be in the running for a role in the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie. Deadline reported that Reigns, Andrew Koji, Jason Momoa, and Noah Centineo were in talks to star in the live-action Street Fighter movie produced by Legendary Pictures. According to Hollywood reporter Jeff Sneider (The InSneider), Reigns was up for the role of Akuma. Reigns' role as Akuma has now been confirmed in a new report for another role in the movie. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that rapper/actor Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson joined the cast. Jackson will play Balrog, 'a disgraced boxer who is also the bodyguard of the villain.' That same report also seemingly confirms the roles of both Roman Reigns and Jason Momoa, also ending speculation that they were up for the same role. 'The call sheet ranges from A-lister Jason Momoa as Blanka to heartthrob Noah Centineo as Ken to gay country singer Orville Peck as Vega. Joe Anoa'i, aka WWE superstar Roman Reign [sic], and martial artist-actor Andrew Koji (Warrior), are on the roll call as battler Akuma and lead character Ryu, respectively. Callina Liang (Presence) is playing Chun-Li,' THR wrote. Reigns' past acting credits include Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and a voice-acting role on Disney's Elena of Avalor series. The new Street Fighter film is a new live-action film based on the iconic Street Fighter video game series. Akuma is the younger brother of Gouken, who is Ryu and Ken's master. Akuma debuted as a secret final boss character in the Super Street Fighter II Turbo video game. He has also appeared in multiple games since then, including 2023's Street Fighter 6. Roman Reigns has been absent from WWE TV for several weeks, but he is rumored to make his return ahead of SummerSlam. Report: Cody Rhodes In Talks For Shocking Role In Video Game Movie Adaptation
Is Cody Rhodes on his way back to Hollywood to portray an iconic video game character? Casting news and rumors have been hot and heavy in recent weeks for the upcoming Legendary Pictures movie Street Fighter, based on the ultra-popular Capcom fighting game franchise. While it's been confirmed that WWE Superstar Roman Reigns will be playing the role of Akuma, it appears that he might be joined by one of his greatest rivals on set in Cody Rhodes. According to Nexus Point News, Rhodes is in talks to play Guile in the upcoming video game movie adaptation. Guile is one of the most iconic characters in Street Fighter history. Originally portrayed by Jean-Claude Van Damme in the original live-action Street Fighter movie back in 1994. WWE losing two of their top stars for a period of time might not be great for the company, but with Reigns' part-time schedule, it might not be too bad. Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more on Cody Rhodes' potential role in Street Fighter as it becomes available. Legendary's Live-Action ‘Street Fighter' Movie Has Found Its Chun-Li
Legendary Pictures' live-action Street Fighter movie has tapped a relative industry newcomer, Callina Liang, to portray the fighting game icon Chun-Li. As reported by Deadline, the 25-year-old actress has signed on to star as the film's female lead. Liang made her television debut in 2022, playing Mei in the first series of ITVX's teen drama Tell Me Everything , then going on to star in two 2024 films: J.C. Lee's Thai directorial debut Bad Genius and Steven Soderbergh's supernatural thriller Presence . Callina Liang in Presence (2024) Liang joins the film's recently-reported stars Jason Momoa ( Aquaman ), Andrew Koji ( Bullet Train ), Roman Reigns ( Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw ) and Noah Centineo ( Warfare ), with Bad Trip's Kitao Sakurai as its director. Even though the film's plot remains under wraps, it will most likely follow the same premise as its 1987 Capcom fighting game source material, which centres around a global fighting tournament organised by M. Bison, the leader of the evil organisation Shadaloo. Chun-Li, one of the most recognisable icons in the gaming space, is an Interpol officer and skilled martial artist who made her debut in 1991's Street Fighter II , and is famous for her muscular legs and kick-based movesets, appearing in nearly all subsequent instalments of the series, leading up to 2023's Street Fighter 6 . Capcom and Legendary embarked on the latest attempt to bring the iconic Street Fighter series to life in April 2023, tapping into Talk to Me's Danny and Michael Philippou as its director duo at the time. However, these plans would fall apart a year later, with the brothers exiting the project due to scheduling conflicts. Legendary has since found a new director in Kitao Sakurai, known for The Eric Andre Show , Bad Trip and Twisted Metal . The Street Fighter film was originally slated to debut on 20 March 2026, but has since been pulled from Sony's 2026 release calendar, with no news on its updated release window. Kevin is a reformed PC Master Race gamer with a penchant for franchise 'duds' like Darksiders III and Dead Space 3 . He has made it his life-long mission to play every single major game release – lest his wallet dies trying. Callina Liang Capcom Chun-Li Legendary Pictures Street Fighter

Callina Liang Cast as Chun-Li in Legendary's Live-Action STREET FIGHTER Movie — GeekTyrant
Callina Liang is stepping into one of the most iconic roles in fighting game history. According to Deadline, the rising star of Steven Soderbergh's supernatural thriller Presence has been cast as Chun-Li in Legendary's upcoming live-action Street Fighter film. Chun-Li made her debut back in Street Fighter II in 1991, and quickly became a fan-favorite for her speed, combat style, and her story as an Interpol agent on a mission to take down M. Bison's criminal empire. Liang's addition brings a strong dramatic background to the role. She also appeared in the Apple TV+ series Foundation and the thriller Bad Genius from J.C. Lee. She joins a cast that already includes Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, Walton Goggins, and Orville Peck. Bad Trip director Kitao Sakurai is set to helm the project. There are still no details on the story that the film will tell, but as a longtime fan of the fighting game, it's hard not to be curious and excited about how this might turn out. I'm hoping for the best!
