Why was Deommodore Lenoir arrested? 49ers star detained after refusing to hand over keys during LAPD gun stop
Deommodore Lenoir was arrested following an alleged incident with a police officer (Imagn Images) San Francisco 49ers player Deommodore Lenoir was captured in Los Angeles following an incident with law enforcement. Authorities found a weapon and suspected illegal activity when observing double-parked vehicles. Lenoir's reluctance to surrender the keys of the car led to his arrest for hampering police operations. He has since been released. Deommodore Lenoir arrested for refusing to hand over car keys during LAPD gun stop San Francisco 49ers defensive back Deommodore Lenoir recently encountered legal difficulties, resulting in confinement after an alleged confrontation with police force in Los Angeles. The event emerged on Thursday when officers spotted a vehicle that was "double-parked and blocking traffic" in the locality of West Vernon Avenue and South Wilton Place. Inside the car were Lenoir and another individual, Marcus Cunningham, the vehicle's registered owner. Upon approaching, law enforcement "noticed a gun and suspected criminal activity." During the rapport, Cunningham reportedly 'threw Lenoir the keys to the car'. When officers subsequently requested the keys from Lenoir, he 'refused to give the keys to police when they asked for them,' which led to the 25-year-old's detention on a charge of "resisting a peace officer." However, an alternative account indicates that Lenoir "threw the car keys to a third person, who tried to keep them from the police." This report suggests that Lenoir was ultimately "charged with obstruction of justice.' Following his processing and temporary restraintment, Lenoir was allowed to leave custody on Friday morning. He is scheduled for a court appearance in July. Lenoir, a "fifth-round pick out of Oregon in 2021," has progressively emerged as a significant component of San Francisco's defensive unit. His performance garnered him "a huge contract extension with the team midway through last season." In the previous season, across 15 games, Lenoir achieved career bests with "85 total tackles, 2 interceptions and 9 passes defended." Over the course of his professional football career, he has accumulated "6 interceptions.' Ex-Salesian standout Deommodore Lenoir, now with 49ers, arrested for resisting peace officer
San Francisco 49ers defensive back Deommodore Lenoir was arrested Thursday afternoon in South Los Angeles. He was charged with delaying and resisting a peace officer, a misdemeanor. Another man, apparently a companion of Lenoir's, was arrested for possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle, which is a felony. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. on the 4500 block of South Wilton Place. Officers spotted 25-year-old Marcus Cunningham 'frantically reaching' into a gray Cadillac Escalade. He then 'locked the vehicle and walked away, appearing to conceal contraband.' Cunningham threw the keys behind a gate when approached by officers, the LAPD told The Times via email, then 'Lenoir retrieved the keys, refused to give them back, and passed them to an unknown male who fled.' After additional officers located the keys on a nearby porch, the police opened the car and found 'a loaded semi-automatic firearm in the center compartment, a loaded Glock in an open compartment and narcotics,' the LAPD said. According to the L.A. County Sheriff Department's inmate information center, Lenoir was released on his own recognizance at 1:18 a.m. Friday and is due to appear in L.A. Superior Court on July 25. No release or court information was available for Cunningham. The 49ers released a statement Friday saying that they're aware of the matter and 'are in the process of gathering further information.' Lenoir, a former standout at Los Angeles Salesian High who played four seasons at Oregon, was selected by the 49ers in the fifth round of the 2021 draft. He signed a five-year, $88-million contract extension before the 2024 season.

North Carolina judge revokes bond for house party shooting suspect
NEWTON, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina judge ordered Thursday that a defendant accused in last weekend's shootings at a house party that left one person dead and 11 others injured stay in jail while awaiting trial. The decision came the day after another judge had set a $200,000 bond for Garon Nathaniel Killian, 20, of Lenoir, who is charged with one count of attempted first-degree murder related to the shootings. Prosecutors on Wednesday had asked that no bond be allowed. Killian had not posted the amount to be released. On Thursday, when Killian had a court date for charges involving a different altercation in April, District Court Judge Scott Conrad revoked the $200,000 bond related to last weekend's violent fracas, according to the Catawba County Clerk of Court's office. Investigators of the shootings that happened early Sunday believe at least 80 shots were fired in a crime scene that spanned several properties along a road in the usually quiet residential neighborhood. FBI agents spent this week at the scene examining bullet trajectories. The Catawba County Sheriff's Office has said that beyond Killian three people have been arrested and charged with crimes related to the party or shootings, and that authorities were seeking on Thursday two other men also wanted on attempted first-degree murder. Giving Killian on Wednesday the chance to post bond had angered local law enforcement leaders. Hickory city police announced previously that Killian and another young man had been charged with many counts — including attempted first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill — for an April 6 altercation in a parking lot that led to shots being fired into a crowd. No one was injured. Catawba Sheriff Don Brown said on Wednesday at a media briefing that while Killian was freed by posting bond several days later he 'should have never went back on the street,' and called the situation 'frustrating' and 'infuriating.' Shawn Patrick Hood, 58, of Lenoir, was killed in last weekend's gunfire. He was the oldest of the victims, who ranged in age from as young as 16, the sheriff's office said. Two of the other three people arrested were charged with three counts of helping someone underage 21 by allowing the possession of alcoholic beverages. The charges are related to the planning and promotion of the house party, the sheriff's office said. There were many juvenile or underage attendees, the state Division of Alcohol Law Enforcement said Wednesday. The other person arrested was charged as an accessory to attempted first-degree murder after the fact, the sheriff's office said.

Dozens of crows shot and killed in Westchester neighborhood, raising concerns of residents
A Westchester neighborhood is on edge as residents say that someone has been shooting and killing crows, a problem that has persisted for several years. They're concerned that these instances could eventually turn into something even more troubling. "It usually starts by hearing pop, pop, pop," said Brenna Lenoir, who has lived in the neighborhood for nearly a decade. "Some sort of a pellet or bullet noise, and then you hear the crows just go wild and then you'll see them all fly away. And then you'll see them fall out of the sky." She says that the issue began at around the same time that the COVID-19 pandemic began, and that in that time there have been about 100 crows that have been shot. On top of that, neighbors have found hawks, songbirds and other birds. The most recent instance came last Saturday. "I heard that first pop and the crows went crazy and first thing I saw when I looked out my window was an injured crow," Lenoir said. She took the crow to the California Wildlife Center in Calabasas for treatment. Los Angeles Police Department investigators were called to the area but said they were unable to locate any evidence of a shot being fired. It's just this, the lack of evidence and information over such a long span of time, that has neighbors so concerned. "I think things do escalate over time," Lenoir said. "My first worry, is it a pet next? How long before it hits children or one of us?" Last Eater the neighborhood had to all but cancel the holiday after between five and 10 birds were found dead in the neighborhood. "It was awful," said Julia Holowaty, who also lives in the neighborhood. "We had all the Easter eggs out here ready for a hunt. We couldn't let the kids go outside." Neighbors have one message to the shooter.
