These are the top fashion trends of Wimbledon this year
Wimbledon 's spectator fashion has transformed into a bold spectacle this year, moving away from traditional understated elegance. Model and presenter Leomie Anderson, Clearpay's fashion expert, says there has been a significant shift and attendees are now treating the event as a major style moment. Broderie anglaise, floppy hats and butter-yellow fabric are all top fashion trends this year. Celebrities at this year's tournament have been seen expertly blending personal style with traditional Wimbledon elements, like nods to tennis whites and strawberries and cream. Notable celebrity outfits include Olivia Rodrigo 's vintage Ralph Lauren, Cate Blanchett 's tailored suit and Rebel Wilson 's pink broderie anglaise dress.

The best dressed at Wimbledon and the trends they served
Once again, at this year's Wimbledon tournament, the only thing distracting from the tennis is the court-side style. 'Wimbledon has turned the stands into a catwalk, and I am here for it,' says model and presenter Leomie Anderson, who is covering Wimbledon as Clearpay's fashion expert this season. If recent years saw guests erring on the side of safe – quiet luxury defined by demure dresses, boxy blazers and the occasional fascinator – 2025 has shifted gear. 'There's a real shift happening,' Anderson explains, 'people used to play it safe with blazers, midi dresses, the usual suspects. But this year, the crowd is serving. It's like everyone got the memo that Wimbledon is just as much a style moment as it is a sport.' And the stats back her up. Broderie anglaise is booming – with maxi dresses up 147%, skirts up 33% – hats are having a high-fashion renaissance with floppy styles up 99%, and butter-yellow is surging according to Clearpay. The best celebrity looks managed to balance their personality with a playful nod to the tournament's stereotypes – from Wimbledon whites to strawberries and cream. 'There's something powerful about its simplicity, the traditions – the setting, the subtlety,' says Anderson. 'People know they have to bring their A-game.' Here are some of the best-dressed celebrities at the tournament so far and how they aced Wimbledon style. Olivia Rodrigo A masterstroke in edging up tradition, singer Olivia Rodrigo, 22, wore a red gingham shirt dress by Ralph Lauren from the spring/summer 2000 archive – a playful nod to Wimbledon's iconic strawberries and cream. Her boyfriend, Louis Partridge, 22, coordinated in a red striped tie and navy blazer. Following her headlining performance at Glastonbury Festival on Sunday, Rodrigo managed to nail the elusive balance of British heritage and Gen Z irreverence. Anna and Michael Murray Also sticking to Wimble classics was retail tycoon and CEO of Frasers Group, Michael Murray, who went traditional in a linen white suit, a cream Panama and brown suede loafers. His wife Anna wore the print of the season in a tulle black and white polka dot midi dress, with black suede pumps and black leather Birkin. Cate Blanchett Actress Cate Blanchett, 56, stood out on Centre Court in a pearlescent Prince of Wales check suit by Giorgio Armani. Sharply tailored but soft in palette, it was a classic Blanchett power move, turning heads without the noise. 'Cate's baby blue tartan suit was effortless and elegant,' Anderson puts it, 'that classic tailoring is signature Cate cool.' Leslie Mann Wimbledon whites are a fail-safe style to sport year after year. While they run the risk of becoming repetitive and – dare I say – boring; when styled right with interesting cuts, whites can be as elegant as ever. Actress Leslie Mann, 53, appeared on day three in an ivory Dior bar jacket and delicate lace skirt. The look was reminiscent of the Princess of Wales recent Self Portrait ensemble at the Order of the Garter in June. David Beckham One thing more certain than spotting a cream Panama hat in the Wimbledon stands is spotting David Beckham. The 50-year-old former footballer once again brought off-court elegance in a cream silk-linen suit from his own Boss collaboration, finished with a chocolate brown tie. The only fashion blunder was plaster cast on his right arm – though even that couldn't detract from his summer suiting credentials. Dominic Cooper Unlike Beckham, 47 year-old actor Dominic Cooper opted out of the classic Wimbledon look and sported a bright powder blue suit with matching trainers. 'I'm seeing bold colour choices […] and people leaning into what makes their style unique,' says Anderson of the look. Cooper reminded us that co-ordination doesn't have to mean stiff – and tonal can be a statement when done right. Tom Daley Dusky teal was Olympic diver Tom Daley's shade of choice – cool and contemporary and a refreshing break from Wimbledon white. Daley, 31, paired the Paul Smith suit with a Christian Louboutin clutch and a Chopard watch. Judy Murray Mother to former Wimbledon champion Sir Andy Murray, Judy Murray chose a sunshine-yellow Me+Em dress with white platform trainers. The cheerful dress was bang on trend, with butter yellow emerging as the summer's sleeper hit. Murray, 65, wasn't the only celebrity to sport the shade, '[actor] Omari Douglas's all-yellow outfit too […] is exactly the kind of energy the tournament needs,' says Anderson. Sarah Lancashire and Peter Salmon Happy Valley star Sarah Lancashire joined Mann in Wimbledon whites, wearing an embroidered cream dress and linen blazer. Joined by television producer Peter Salmon in a deep blue suit, the pair delivered a Wimbledon-appropriate palette that played within the lines without looking predictable. Rebel Wilson One of Anderson's favourite looks of the tournament: Rebel Wilson's pink broderie anglaise Temperley London dress. 'Broderie is having a major moment […] Rebel Wilson in that pink broderie anglaise dress on Day 1 was perfection,' says Anderson. The actress finished the look with a neutral pair of Gianvito Rossi sandals. Alexander Armstrong Pointless star Alexander Armstrong, 55, made a strong case for colour in a royal blue linen suit in the Royal Box. An understated yet eye-catching alternative to classic navy, Armstrong's look was just the right kind of bold for a Wimbledon box seat. Eddie Redmayne and Hannah Bagshawe Actor Eddie Redmayne, 43, kept things clean in a classic cream linen suit, while his wife Hannah, 42, dialled up the impact in a red polka-dot Alessandra Rich shirt dress.

10 red carpet looks at Cannes that broke the rules in 2025
As well as being one of the biggest events in the world of film, the Cannes Film Festival is also a pretty important week in fashion. Over the years, we have seen some incredible looks hit the red carpet at the prestigious celebration of cinema, but the 2025 event was dealt a devastating blow when it came to mind-boggling outfits. Before the fest kicked off, new red carpet rules came into place that banned nudity and 'voluminous ensembles.' In a statement, organisers said: 'For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival.' They continued: 'Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theatre are not permitted. 'The festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.' Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the regulations were updated to reflect 'certain rules that have long been in effect.' Rules are made to be broken, however, and a few celebrities did exactly that, touching down on the Cannes carpet in ensembles that were definitely close to the line… Never one to shy away from a bold look, supermodel Leomie Anderson hit the Hights 2 Lowest red carpet in a rather revealing dress. With her hair piled in sleep curls on her head, she wore a silver metal beaded high-neck gown that would have undoubtedly raised organisers' eyebrows. The ensemble was almost entirely see-through, with the star wearing coordinating silver pants and nipple covers underneath in somewhat of an attempt to preserve some modesty. She accessorised with a small black clutch bag and sparkling silver jewellery that matched the eye-catching piece. Bella Hadid is no stranger to causing a stir on the Cannes red carpet, freeing the nipple on multiple occasions in statement looks. This year, she was arguably more low-key in a black gown, but she still toed the line of the new rules with a thigh-high split in the backless number. The custom Saint Laurent silk gown also had intricate detailing, as well as cut-outs on the side to show a little skin but in a more reserved fashion than is typical for the Hadid sister. Even away from her legendary Halloween looks, Heidi Klum never fails to disappoint in the fashion department. At the Cannes opening ceremony, she stunned in a unique pink floral dress with cascading ruffles emulating petals, including a very voluminous train. It also included a daring side slit showing off her legs, somewhat defying the festival's nudity rule. The Mission: Impossible cast broke the red carpet rules by stopping to take a selfie on the red carpet. But that wasn't the only rule break at the premiere, as Pom Klementieff stepped out in a lilac plunge dress from Loewe. She ditched her bra to show plenty of skin underneath, posing confidently despite unquestionably flouting the guidelines. Like Bella's gown, it also included a high leg slit and straps across her back, creating a cut-out effect. Julia Garner didn't exactly break the rules of the red carpet, but it was a daring look, prodding the limits of the nudity ban. The Wolf Man star attended the opening ceremony in a sheer black Gucci gown that she appeared to be totally starkers underneath. But we're sure bosses were thankful that wasn't actually the case, as she rocked a sequin-covered nude liner underneath to shield her body. Halle Berry may have changed one of her looks to avoid being scolded for a long train, but a follow-up look at the 2025 Chopard Universe Dinner threw that consideration out the window. The incredible maroon gown had an elegant, structured train that followed the Catwoman star. It featured a structured red corset and yet another leg split, with the star accessorising with matching red heels and earrings. Aishwarya Rai put in a stunning appearance on the red carpet for the History of Sound premiere, wearing a gown that was certainly close to the wire in terms of dress code. The Bollywood icon is known as the Queen of Cannes, with this look proving exactly why. Her elaborate ensemble paid homage to her heritage, with designer Manish Malhotra later revealing she and the actress were both aligned on a vision. 'I was very sure that I wanted her to wear something handwoven, something that takes India's textile heritage to the global stage.' She wore a handwoven Kadwa Banarasi handloom saree in ivory, threaded with real silver and also featuring hints of rose gold. As far as elaborate trains go, Wan QianHui took a major risk. Attending the opening ceremony of Cannes 2025, the Chinese musical theatre star made the bold move of wearing a pastel yellow strapless number. It was the very definition of business on top, party on the bottom, as the bodice flowed out into a multi-layered skirt complete with fur. We can only imagine what a nightmare it was for her to walk through doorways. Farhana Bodi was one of many stars going for a vibrant colour, rocking up at the opening ceremony in head-to-toe pink. The UAE model clearly wanted to be anything but subtle, her custom blush pink dress by Atelier Zuhra surrounded by sculpted ruffles. 'I felt like a blingtastic Barbie last night,' she said afterwards. 'My look for Cannes 2025 is a love letter to unapologetic femininity and high fashion.' Stella Maxwell knows how to work a risqué piece of clothing thanks to her successful modelling career. More Trending And there's no doubt about whether her Cannes look pushed the boundaries, as she arrived for the Phoenician Scheme screening in a dress that we can't be sure organisers would be thrilled about. The sheer black number featured strategically placed embroidered flowers and lace ruffles to cover her body, but she still showed plenty of skin. Stella showcased her toned Victoria's Secret model figure, sweeping the floor with the train of her frock and adding to the sultry vibe with dark eye makeup. Got a story? British supermodel risks breaking Cannes' naked outfit rule with sheer dress
Supermodel Leomie Anderson dared to bare as she arrived on the red carpet in a rather revealing dress. The model, 32, looked incredible at the premiere of Highest 2 Lowest at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. With her hair piled in sleep curls on her head, she wore a silver metal beaded high-neck dress. The gown was entirely see-through and showed off the model's incredible figure, which was a particularly daring move this year at the French festival. Earlier this month, Cannes banned nudity and 'voluminous ensembles' from its red carpet under new rules. 'For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other area of the festival,' it was announced by the event organisers. 'Voluminous outfits, in particular those with a large train, that hinder the proper flow of traffic of guests and complicate seating in the theatre are not permitted.' 'The festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.' Cannes has always had strict dress codes, specifically for screenings at the Grand Théâtre Lumière, where the most glamorous events are usually held. Black tie and evening wear are required for those screenings, but while navy-blue suits and 'elegant sandals' are permitted, 'tote-bags, backpacks or large bags' are not. More Trending Cannes has hosted some pretty daring outfits in the past, with the likes of Bella Hadid, Heidi Klum, and Kendall Jenner all making an effort to make a statement on the red carpet in years gone by. Leomie is a supermodel from Wandsworth who is best known as an activist and presenter. The star was a Victoria's Secret model between 2015 and 2018, becoming an official Victoria's Secret angel in 2019. At previous premieres, she has not shied away from wearing revealing looks and has confidently freed the nipple and showed off her fantastic physique. Got a story? Leomie Anderson risks breaking Cannes Film Festival's new stricter nudity rules as she poses in see-through mesh dress at premiere
Leomie Anderson risked breaking Cannes Film Festival 's new stricter nudity rules as she posed in see-through mesh dress at the Highest 2 Lowest premiere on Monday night. The British model, 32, opted for a daring look as she slipped into a silver mesh number which revealed her physique. She boosted her height with strappy heels and swept her dark tresses up into a sleek style. Over recent years the Cannes has arguably won more attention for the outfits worn by its celebrity guests than the roster of feature films being screened on the Croisette. But new nudity rules, devised for 'the sake of decency,' have been implemented at this year's festival. According to organisers, the austere move is an attempt to stifle the celebrity trend for 'naked dresses' - namely provocative outfits that reveal considerably more than they conceal - on the red carpet. The British model, 32, opted for a daring look as she slipped into a silver mesh number which revealed her physique 'For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as any other area of the festival,' states a Cannes festival document. 'The festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.' The surprise new policy features in a recent festival-goers charter - released with a series of outlines regarding expected public behaviour. Guests are expected to converge on the Grand Auditorium Louis Lumière for some of the highest profile film screenings across a packed two-week schedule in Cannes. It's understood that the iconic venue now adopts a more conservative dress code, with suits, dinner jackets and floor-length evening gowns generally favoured over headline grabbing ensembles. Classic little black dresses, cocktail dresses, pant-suits, dressy tops and elegant sandals, 'with or without a heel', will also be permitted. While the decision to implement a more stringent policy will be a first, it is not known if French TV broadcasters, wary of airing nudity, played a role in its enforcement. Major red carpet events, including the Cannes Film Festival, are aired in France by France Télévisions. Recently attracting more models and influencers than actors and filmmakers, the annual ceremony has seen an increase in risqué red carpet fashion statements. In 2021, American supermodel Bella Hadid bared her cleavage in a plunging black gown while attending a screening of Tre Piani (Three Floors). She pulled a similar stunt three years later, with guests at the 2024 gala left speechless after she attended the premiere of Donald Trump biopic The Apprentice completely braless beneath a sheer brown evening dress. This year's Cannes Film Festival is taking place in the wake of Trump's vow to enact tariffs on international films. Cannes, where filmmakers, sales agents and journalists gather from around the world, is the Olympics of the big screen, with its own golden prize, the Palme d´Or, to give out at the end. Filmmakers come from nearly every corner of the globe to showcase their films while dealmakers work through the night to sell finished films or packaged productions to various territories. 'You release a film into that Colosseum-like situation,' says Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho, who's returning to Cannes with 'The Secret Agent, a thriller set during Brazil 's dictatorship. 'You've got to really prepare for the whole experience because it's quite intense - not very far from the feeling of approaching a roller coaster as you go up the steps at the Palais.' Trump sent shock waves through Hollywood and the international film community when he announced on May 4 that all movies 'produced in Foreign Lands' will face 100 percent tariffs. The White House has said no final decisions have been made. Options being explored include federal incentives for U.S.-based productions, rather than tariffs. But the announcement was a reminder of how international tensions can destabilize even the oldest cultural institutions. The Cannes Film Festival originally emerged in the World War II years, when the rise of fascism in Italy led to the founding of an alternative to the then-government controlled Venice Film Festival. In the time since, Cannes' resolute commitment to cinema has made it a beacon to filmmakers. Countless directors have come to make their name. This year is no different, though some of the first-time filmmakers at Cannes are already particularly well-known. Kristen Stewart (The Chronology of Water), Scarlett Johansson (Eleanor the Great) and Harris Dickinson (Urchin) have all unveiled their feature directorial debuts in Cannes' Un Certain Regard sidebar section. Many Cannes veterans have returned, including Tom Cruise (Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning), Robert De Niro - who received an honorary Palme d´Or 49 years after Taxi Driver premiered in Cannes - and Quentin Tarantino, who paid tribute to low-budget Western director George Sherman. Meanwhile Scarlett's directorial debut Eleanor The Great, will be unveiled on May 20.
