Powerful Indigenous Leader Signals Support for Ecuador Socialist
Ecuador's most powerful Indigenous leader, Leonidas Iza, said he is leaning toward supporting the socialist candidate in April's runoff election, which may prove decisive in the tight race. A victory for opposition leader Luisa González might give his movement 'six months to a year of oxygen to anchor our social resistance', Iza told reporters ahead of a meeting of Indigenous party Pachakutik.
