Galatasaray Head Coach Delivers Major Transfer Update On Inter Milan Midfielder: 'President Wants Him Here'
Galatasaray head coach Okan Buruk insists the Turkish champions haven't withdrawn from the race for Inter Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu. Speaking to BeIN Sports via FCInterNews, Buruk confirmed the club's overwhelming desire to sign the 31-year-old. Despite falling behind Fenerbahce in the pecking order, the reigning Super Lig holders remain keen on Calhanoglu. Indeed, Buruk's men are reluctant to concede defeat just yet. Meanwhile, Fenerbahce have intensified talks with the player's agent as they look to wrap the deal up in the coming hours. However, Fenerbahce's aggressive approach has not deterred Galatasaray from making a late bid. Instead, the Rams Park outfit may try to hijack Calhanoglu's transfer to the Sukru Saracoglu Stadium at the 11th hour. As for Inter, their hands seem tied as the Turkish midfielder undoubtedly wants to leave. (Photo by) Time is ticking away, but Galatasaray haven't lost hope of signing Hakan Calhanoglu. Indeed, they have been preoccupied with other transfer dealings. After landing Leroy Sane, they went to great lengths to re-sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli. Now that the Nigerian is on the verge of returning to Istanbul, Galatasaray can turn back to Calhanoglu. 'This is the wish of our president, and it's our intention as well. In reality, we're trying to move forward position by position,' Buruk stated. 'We quickly finalized Leroy Sané. Victor Osimhen was very important to confirm, and his transfer is almost complete. 'Once that is finalized, the goalkeeper's transfer will be particularly important for us. 'We need to make decisions on other positions as we go along. The most important thing, of course, is to have a budget. 'We allocated a very significant budget for Osimhen, and we have to make decisions based on the remaining budget. 'Here, you can ask for a lot – you can ask for players in every position – but the budget is very important. We have to use it wisely.'

Luis Diaz's Liverpool future in spotlight amid Bayern Munich interest
Liverpool have rejected an opening offer of €67.5m from Bayern Munich for forward Luis Diaz. The club remains adamant that the Colombian international is not for sale and is considered a key player until his contract ends in 2027. Liverpool believe Diaz is worth over €100m, citing prices for other high-class forwards and interest from the Saudi Pro League. Barcelona had also shown interest in Diaz but were informed he was unavailable, leading them to pursue other targets. Bayern Munich are seeking a replacement for winger Leroy Sane, who joined Galatasaray, and are also without Thomas Muller and the injured Jamal Musiala.

Sané: Germany need Musiala to recover and deliver 'brilliant moments'
Munich players Leroy Sane (L) and Jamal Musiala take a seat on the bench before the FIFA Club World Cup round of 16 soccer match between CR Flamengo and Bayern Munich at the Hard Rock Stadium. Sven Hoppe/dpa Leroy Sané hailed Germany team-mate Jamal Musiala as a difference maker as he wished his former Bayern Munich colleague a speedy recovery. The 22-year-old broke his fibula and dislocated his ankle in Bayern's 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup quarter-finals. Advertisement The playmaker will now be out for several months. Sané will be one of the candidates to fill in for him for Germany in upcoming World Cup qualifiers, but he can no longer replace Musiala for Bayern after recently leaving for Galatasaray. "I really hope he recovers soon. Bayern and the national team need him and his brilliant moments," the 29-year-old told Sky. "He was just on his way to becoming 100% fit again, and then this... I feel so incredibly sorry for him. It's so frustrating." Musiala underwent successful surgery on Monday. "I watched the game live on TV," Sané said. "The scene didn't look good at all after the first replay. Unfortunately, you could already sense that it would mean a longer recovery period. It's unbelievably bitter. I was stunned at first."

Galatasaray consider move for Roma keeper Svilar
Turkish club Galatasaray are weighing up a move for Roma goalkeeper Mile Svilar, reports in Italy claim. According to today's edition of La Repubblica, via CalcioMercato, the Super Lig outfit view the Roma star as the perfect successor to Fernando Muslera, who left the club this summer after 14 years. Advertisement The reports suggest that whilst no official negotiations are underway as of yet, Galatasaray are encouraged by the fact Svilar has yet to sign his contract extension with the Giallorossi. (Photo by) Will Svilar stay or will he go? The highly rated 25-year-old has just finished an impressive season. The former Benfica man was named Serie A goalkeeper of the season for the 2024-25 campaign and Roma are preparing to offer him a new deal to reflect his increased status. However, now Galatasaray look set to come knocking. The Turkish side are undertaking a massive overhaul, with Leroy Sane joining on a free from Bayern Munich, the club attempting to sign Victor Osimhen permanently and Inter duo Yann Sommer and Hakan Calhanoglu both linked with moves to the club. Paris Saint-Germain v Bayern Munich: Club World Cup quarter-final
Update: Date: 2025-07-05T14:47:12.000Z Title: Early team news: Content: Ousmane Dembele missed all three group games through injury but returned as a substitute for his side's win over Inter Miami in the first knockout round. The winger was sent off in PSG's defeat at the hands of Bayern in November and will be hoping to make amends if he gets a run-out today. Bayern Munich will be without Leroy Sane, who departed the club to join Galatasaray on a free transfer when his contract expired the day after he helped the German side beat Flamengo last weekend. Alphonso Davies (ACL) and Hiroki Ito (broken foot) remain sidelined, while Kim Min-jae (achilles) is nearing full fitness but seems unlikely to feature in this tournament. Due to leave Bayern as soon as their interest in the Club World Cup ends, Thomas Muller could make his 756th and final appearance for the club in Atlanta today. Update: Date: 2025-07-05T14:45:15.000Z Title: Quarter-final: PSG v Bayern Munich Content: A much maligned vanity project and Fifa cash and power grab, the Club World Cup 2.0 has now reached that point where, whatever their feelings about having to travel stateside for up to a month at the end of a gruelling season, the remaining teams will now be of a mind that seeing as they've made it this far, they might as well try to go a little further. Chelsea and the Brazilian side Fluminense have already made it to the last four and in a few hours one of PSG and Bayern Munich will join them. The European heavyweights meet for a noon showdown at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia, a 75,000-capacity venue that is normally home to the NFL's Atlanta Falcons and MLS's Atlanta United. Notable for its iconic retractable roof and 360-degree halo video display, it is unlikely to be full given that Fifa were struggling to sell reduced price tickets for its upper tiers during the week at a cut-price $44. Assuming the pinwheel roof is closed for today's match, any potential last-minute walk-ups are unlikely to be put off by the forecast 32C heat forecast for Atlanta this afternoon. The cool conditions inside this EnormoDome will also suit the aggressive pressing style so synonymous with both Bayern and PSG. Kick-off is at 5pm (BST) but stay tuned in the meantime for team news and build-up.
