Chanel to stage Métiers d'Art show in New York
The runway show will be the first Métiers d'Art collection designed by newly appointed creative director, Matthieu Blazy, who will make his design debut for Chanel on October 6 for the house's ready-to-wear collection as part of Paris Fashion Week. "I'm delighted that Matthieu Blazy has chosen New York for his first Métiers d'art show," said Bruno Pavlovsky, president of Chanel fashion. "He will resonate the creative energy of the city he knows so well with the exceptional savoir-faire of the house." Created by former Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld in 2002, Metiers d'Art is an annual destination show put on by Chanel to highlight the expertise of 12 artisanal workshops now owned by French fashion house, including the embroiderer Lesage and the milliner Maison Michel. Past show locations include Dakar, Paris, Manchester, and Hangzhou in China, where the fashion house showcased its Metiers d'Art collection last year.

Roger Vivier Collaborates With Maison Lesage for Pièce Unique
Roger Vivier's archives already offer ample inspiration for the brand's creative director Gherardo Felloni, but this season was a double-whammy for his Pièce Unique collection of one-off designs. In collaboration with long-standing house partner Maison Lesage, with which he worked to develop the eight bags and two gilets in the collection this season, he was able to tap the storied embroidery specialist's back catalog for inspiration, as well as its archive of materials and components, making each precious design all the more unique. 'All of these stones don't exist anymore on the market,' Felloni enthused during a presentation. 'For Pièce Unique, they opened the archive and said you can use any quantities that we have.' A multitude of complex techniques came into play thanks to Lesage's expertise and both companies' archives, with each piece inspired by a specific design from the past and crafted by hand in Italy and France, with Lesage's artisans embroidering directly onto the bags themselves. The tiny, folded and pleated silk organza blossoms stitched onto a background of lilac silk were in reference to a hat in the Lesage archive. Hand-beaded, gold-threaded iterations on green velvet for La Vertueuse came from a vintage cape. On La Passionnée, blossoms were draped and sculpted by hand from silk mousseline or hand-embroidered with tiny beads. L'Ephemere, inspired by a dress in the Lesage archives and developed as both bag and gilet, featured pale colors evoking the fading of time and a combination of silk, muslin and wire embroideries and twists, hand-painted and overlaid with delicate strands of feathers. On La Tendre, hundreds of coral-colored glass beads from the '60s shivered. The buckles and handles for each piece were also crafted by hand and set with semiprecious stones including onyx, citrine and amethyst. Chanel to stage Galerie du 19M in Tokyo this fall
Chanel has unveiled plans to stage Galerie du 19M in Tokyo this fall, promoting its unique array of multiple "Métiers d'art" to the greater public. The brand has chosen an elevated space—on top of a noted Tokyo skyscraper—to display the inimitable skills of 19M craftspeople. Founded by Chanel in 2021 in Paris, 19M is a unique constellation of skilled métiers and specialist suppliers bringing together nearly 700 craftsmen and experts from the worlds of fashion and decoration. The Galerie du 19M is an open space dedicated to the transmission and promotion of Métiers d'art through a multi-disciplinary program showcasing emerging creative scenes. Previously, the Galerie du 19M moved for several weeks to a naval fort in Marseilles when Chanel staged its cruise collection in the Mediterranean city last year. From September 30 to October 20, 2025, Galerie du 19M will be staged on the 52nd floor of the Mori Tower. A giant skyscraper with nearly 400,000 square meters of floor space, Mori Tower is also home to a famed art museum, one floor above the Chanel event. 'Visitors of all ages will marvel at the richness of the Japanese and French heritages and the modernity of their contemporary interpretations,' Chanel underlined in its release. In January 2022, French President Emmanuel Macron celebrated the opening of 19M, Chanel's unique couture and fashion skills campus in northern Paris, praising it as an expression of a cultural revolution in France. It is an impressive building uniting wide-ranging skills from embroiderers (Lesage) and bootmakers (Massaro) to milliners (Maison Michel), pleat makers (Lognon) and feather suppliers (Lemarié) in a truly unique constellation of skills and know-how. 'The Galerie du 19M Tokyo is a new milestone in the history that links Chanel and Japan, founded on respect, mutual admiration and shared inspiration. While Japanese aesthetics have permeated many collections since the days of Gabrielle Chanel, the House has also paid tribute to Japan through many important events, from its first fashion show in Tokyo in 1978 to its first Métiers d'art exhibition abroad, at the Ginza flagship in 2004,' noted Chanel.
