'The Sussexessssss': Oprah Winfrey mocks Montecito neighbours Meghan Markle and Prince Harry over their royal surname
In a moment no one saw coming, Oprah Winfrey has publicly ribbed her Montecito neighbours Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, mocking their continued use of the royal 'Sussex' name despite stepping down from official duties in 2020. Appearing on the podcast Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa on Thursday, the talk show queen made the off-the-cuff quip just months after Meghan corrected actress Mindy Kaling for using her maiden name on an episode of With Love, Meghan. "Do you have chickens in Montecito?" Ripa asked during their chat. "I do not have chickens in Montecito," Oprah replied, "but my neighbour has chickens in Montecito right across the fence, so I get my eggs from her." Ripa then joked that she'd once considered gifting Oprah chickens. "We interviewed (actor) Colman Domingo… And I think he brought you his manuscripts," Ripa said. "And I said, 'That's not what I would've gotten for Oprah… She's in Montecito, so she probably has a chicken coup. I would've gotten her fuzzy chickens'." "Would you have liked that gift?" Ripa asked. "Not particularly," Oprah deadpanned, sparking laughter. "You know what, I would have taken them over to the Susexesssss," she added, dragging out the word for comic effect. She repeated "the Sussexes" once more, again drawing loud laughter from the studio. "My furry chicken would have been royally rehomed," Ripa added, playing along. Meghan's use of her royal title was a hot topic earlier this year when she revealed on her Netflix cooking show that she'd officially taken the surname Sussex. "It's so funny you keep saying Meghan Markle-you know I'm Sussex now," she told Kaling. "You have kids and you go, 'No, I share my name with my children'." The 43-year-old doubled down in an interview with People, saying: "It's our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn't recognised how meaningful that would be to me until we had children. "I love that that is something that Archie, Lili, H and I all have together. It means a lot to me." Until perhaps now, Oprah had remained one of the couple's most vocal allies, famously hosting their 2021 bombshell tell-all in the garden of their $29 million Montecito estate- complete with the now-iconic chicken coop in the background. Although the Sussexes have only lived in the neighbourhood for five years, their friendship with Oprah spans much longer. The billionaire media mogul even scored an invite to their 2018 royal wedding. Elsewhere in the podcast, Oprah also revealed a "never-before-told" story involving her royal neighbours. "I get a call from Harry, Prince Harry, on Easter Saturday, and he says, 'Sorry to bother you, O, but we have a duck problem here'," she recalled, imitating his British accent. "A duck had come into their yard and laid their eggs and had these chicks. And he said, 'Our pond is a stream, we don't have a pond, so can we bring the ducks over to your pond?'" Oprah agreed but asked him to wait so her best friend, TV personality Gayle King's grandchildren, could witness the scene, but Harry declined. "I said, 'Wait until I can get the kids to come down to the pond so they can see you put the ducks in the pond'. And he goes, 'No, we're coming right away, we're coming over!'" The visit descended into chaos as soon as they arrived. "As he opens the door, the mama duck flies out. And he's got all the baby ducks in a box. We're chasing the mama duck who is in the front yard and has flown to the other side. We've got her ducks. Harry's running after, Meghan gets out, she's running after, chasing the mom and trying to get her to come back to her ducks," Oprah said. "...We have video. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen." Ripa couldn't help but add: "The ducks also hit the jackpot."

Oprah Winfrey admits she doesn't miss her daytime talk show: 'What we were doing every day became just so hard'
Oprah Winfrey delivered so many iconic moments in the 25 years her eponymous talk show was on the air — but the media mogul admits that she doesn't miss it. Speaking with Kelly Ripa on the most recent episode of the Let's Talk Off Camera With Kelly Ripa podcast, Winfrey clarified that while she doesn't "miss the show" itself, she does miss the "connection to the audience" that she successfully created over the years. "I miss the everyday conversation," she shared. "I miss the conversations afterwards." Winfrey noted, though, that "as much as I loved the audience, I'm telling you, the nature of what we were doing every day became just so hard." Winfrey said that diving into serious topics that her audience was dealing with — such as fighting cancer, going through a divorce, or otherwise experiencing a "major dysfunction" — became increasingly difficult. What's more, her producers would get "overwhelmed" if their efforts did not result in Emmy wins, so she eventually stopped submitting herself for nominations so that they could focus on "doing the best work possible." She continued, "I still hold in reverence all the opportunities we had to reach into people's lives and be there for them in ways that mattered." Among other things, the talk show legend was known for her generous gifts and giveaways to her studio audience. She discussed the stress of trying to outdo herself as the show went on, recalling one producer's pie-in-the-sky idea to launch her audience into space. "It is time to bring it down," Winfrey remembered thinking after a space trip was pitched. In her final season, Winfrey pulled out the big guns, taking over 300 of her audience members to Australia for eight days. While the host loved connecting with her viewers this way, she described the logistical problems with sending hundreds of people Down Under. "What we didn't realize is 90 percent of the audience didn't have a passport," she said. "So the producers were, like, out of their minds trying to get passports for the people in time for the show in Australia." The Oprah Winfrey Show ran from 1986-2011. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle suffer jab from Oprah Winfrey over controversial surname
Oprah Winfrey has made a playful jab at her friends Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during a podcast appearance, poking fun at their tongue-twister surname Oprah Winfrey has taken a playful jab at her friends and neighbours Prince Harry and Meghan Markle during a podcast appearance, mocking their tongue-twister surname. While appearing on Kelly Ripa's Let's Talk Off Camera podcast, Oprah recalled a sweet story about the Sussexes from earlier this year. During the candid chat, the podcast host asked Oprah if she would enjoy receiving baby chicks as a gift, and she retorted: "I'd run them straight over to the Sussexes" while mispronouncing the royal surname. Oprah then playfully repeated "the Sussexes" while slurring the S sounds together and laughing once again for good measure. Oprah, who lives close by to the royal couple, recalled rushing over to the Sussexes house on Easter to help them relocate a family of baby ducks that had settled in their garden. Oprah recounted the wholesome: "I got a call from Harry, Prince Harry, on Easter Saturday. Sorry to bother you, O, but we have a duck problem here." She retold the story of how Harry insisted he wanted to bring the lost ducks over to Oprah's house, saying: "Our pond is a stream, we don't have a pond, so can we bring the ducks over to your pond?" Oprah agreed to help but asked Harry to wait because her best friend Gayle King's grandchildren were coming to visit, but Harry insisted they be moved to safety immediately, as she continued: "I said, 'Wait until I can get the kids to come down to the pond so they can see you put the ducks in the pond.' And he goes, "No, we're coming right away, we're coming over!"' The TV host then describes how Oprah, Harry and Meghan, together tried to chase and collect the mother duck who had "fled" and escaped into the garden. Oprah has a long history with the Sussexes, famously interviewing them in 2021 after they quit royal life in 2020 and relocated to California. The tell-all interview revealed a series of bombshell allegations against the royal family. After the famous interview, Oprah spoke with her friend Gayle King and admitted: "I didn't set out to do a 'bombshell' interview – I set out to do an interview, have a conversation that will allow them to tell their story." Oprah was invited to Harry and Meghan's wedding in 2018 where she first tried to get an interview with Meghan, but was unable to go through with it due to strict royal protocols. The 2021 interview, which was the first major conversation with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle since they quit their royal duties, received mixed reactions online from royal fans, with many condemning the Sussexes for their allegations against the Firm.

Kelly Ripa Opens Up About Mark Consuelos's "Repulsive" Sex Habit
The Gist Kelly Ripa called out a "repulsive" sex habit that her husband Mark Consuelos is a fan of while making a July 15 appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast. While opening up about how the couple keep things steamy after 30 years of marriage, Ripa opened up about how the couple's work schedule has worked in her favor. Ripa and Consuelos share sons Michael and Joaquin and daughter Lola Ripa and Mark Consuelos aren't shy when it comes to discussing their sex life on live TV, but according to Ripa, there's one thing she'd take out of the bedroom forever. While making a July 15 appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, the Live With Kelly and Mark co-host opened up about a 'repulsive' sex habit that Consuelos is a fan of—and how she's managed to minimize it since they started working together. While discussing how she and Consuelos keep things steamy after 30 years of marriage, the All My Children star spilled the beans on a sexual preference that she can't stand: Morning sex. 'I find it disgusting,' she admitted to host Amanda Hirsch, revealing that her husband would rather do the deed in the morning than at night. 'He's a guy. He's never going to learn.' When describing what exactly she found so unappealing about morning sex, Ripa—who shares son Michael, daughter Lola, and son Joaquin with the Riverdale actor—set the scene. She explained, 'He wants to kiss. I have a retainer in. I've got to rip that out. And he's got his nasal strips on. It's like we are the most repulsive, disgusting [people]. I'm already pre-disgusted for tomorrow morning.' While Ripa joked, 'that dick is a brain of its own, and it doesn't see the retainer,' she revealed that her efforts to transition their sex life to the nighttime had gotten an unexpected boost from the early call time of their ABC morning show. 'I said to him, 'Here's the thing. There needs to be a yin and a yang here. It can't always be your way,'' she recalled about a conversation she had with Consuelos once she became his co-host. ''It feels like 90 percent of the time it's your way, and now that we work together every day, it's gonna have to sometimes be my way. And my way's at night only.'' While Ripa might have had to call the shots early on, she joked that Consuelos had nearly come around to her way of thinking. 'The greatest thing about this job, this thing has almost repulsed him from morning time during the work week—which is like a miracle,' she said, quipping, 'May this show last until he suffers from erectile dysfunction. He's in his mid-50s now. Shouldn't that be happening now? I was promised.' It's not the first time the longtime couple have opened up about their bedroom habits, as Ripa previously opened up about how "keep hot for each other" while they're apart. The star revealed that the couple took part in "ludicrous" sex rituals to stay connected from afar, joking during a March 2023 episode of her Let's Talk Off Camera podcast, "I became so alarmed at my appearance over FaceTime that I started hanging the computer on a ladder, so that I could look up to Mark [and] he did not have to see what gravity was actually doing." Oprah Winfrey called to assist with Prince Harry's 'duck problem'
Oprah Winfrey was called to help Prince Harry with a "duck problem". The 71-year-old media mogul lives close to the Duke of Sussex and his wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, in California and she recalled rushing to the couple's aid over the Easter weekend when they discovered ducklings in their back yard but had nowhere suitable to settle them. Speaking to Kelly Ripa on her Let's Talk Off Camera podcast, Opera said: "I get a call from Harry, Prince Harry, on Easter Saturday, and he says, 'Sorry to bother you, O, but we have a duck problem here.' "A duck had come into their yard and laid their eggs and had these chicks. "And he said, 'Our pond is a stream, we don't have a pond, so can we bring the ducks over to your pond?' " Oprah agreed but asked Harry to wait because her best friend Gayle King's grandchildren were coming to visit and would like to see the spectacle, but the 40-year-old prince - who has Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four, with wife Meghan, Duchess of Sussex - insisted he needed to move the creatures immediately. She continued: "I said, 'Wait until I can get the kids to come down to the pond so they can see you put the ducks in the pond.' And he goes, 'No, we're coming right away, we're coming over!' " But the cute scene turnned to chaos when the "mama duck" fled and the trio had to chase her, providing the "funniest thing" Oprah had ever seen. She said: "As he opens the door, the mama duck flies out. And he's got all the baby ducks in a box. "We're chasing the mama duck who is in the front yard and has flown to the other side. We've got her ducks. Harry's running after, Meghan gets out, she's running after, chasing the mom and trying to get her to come back to her ducks. "And for like half an hour, we're running around with the ducks in a box. We have video. It's the funniest thing I've ever seen." Kelly joked the duck had been very shrewd in choosing a nesting spot. She laughed: "The ducks also hit the jackpot. "They're like, 'Wait a minute, we show up at Prince Harry's house and now we're at Oprah's!' Excuse me. That duck knew what it was doing when it laid its eggs." Meghan had shared a clip of the ducks on her Instagram page over Easter. She captioned the video: "Wishing you a Happy Easter full of love….and surprises!"
