Playlunch Enlist AFL Legend Barry Hall For Hilarious ‘Keith' Music Video
Playlunch have continued the rollout for their as-yet-untitled second studio album with their second single of 2025, entitled 'Keith'. The follow-up to February's 'Boys' has been a staple of the band's live show in the lead-up to its release, with clips of the band performing it gaining traction on TikTok. Now, the band have officially unveiled the self-described 'bogan funk' song – complete with a humourous music video that literally re-enacts the story told in the song. The titular 'Keith' is played in the video by Barry Hall, a retired AFL player who was the captain of the Sydney Swans between 2005 and 2008 and who earned the nickname 'Big Bad Barry' due to his confrontational manner on the field. In a press statement, the band explains that 'Keith' was written about a 'psycho tradie neighbour'. 'Inseparable from his Ute and beloved two-wheeler trailer, Keith would terrorise the streets verbally assaulting anyone who dared leave their car in the on-street parking out front of his house,' said frontman Liam Bell. 'No matter who you are or where you come from, everyone knows a Keith.' The music video for 'Keith' can be viewed below. To further promote the release of 'Keith', the band have set up a hotline for fans to call in and tell stories of their own personal 'Keiths' from their lives. The Keith Hotline can be reached by dialling 1800 353 484 – AKA 1-800 F KEITH. The band have also confirmed that the follow-up to their debut album, 2023's Who's Ready For A Good Time?, has been completed and will release later in 2025. Playlunch Announce Second Studio Album ‘Sex Ed' And 2025 National Tour
Playlunch have followed up on the recent success of their single 'Keith' with the announcement of their second studio album, Sex Ed. The album follows on from their 2023 debut, Who's Ready For A Good Time?, and is set for release on Friday, August 22nd via ABC Music. To support the release of Sex Ed, the seven-piece 'bogan funk' Melbourne band will hit the road for a national tour in September. The full list of tour dates and ticketing information can be found below. 'We're so pumped to celebrate this new album we've worked crazy hard on for the past year,' the band said in a joint press statement announcing both the album and the Australian tour. The band have furthermore promised fans that the Sex Ed tour will be host to 'the biggest Playlunch show you've ever seen. '[They'll be] packed full of surprises, and with the best production value we can possibly cram in' they added. 'We'll be playing a whole heap of these new tracks live for the very first time, [which] can't wait to show you, as well as all the faves from our debut album.' Joining the band as main support for all show will be Brisbane pop duo Juno, who encountered one another for the first time while performing at last year's Bigsound in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley. '[We] couldn't have been more impressed with their show,' they added. 'Everyone is in for an absolute treat, with a night of non-stop dancing and singing across the whole lineup.' Sex Ed was co-produced by frontman Liam Bell with Northeast Party House's Sean Kenihan throughout 2024, in-between the band touring in support of Who's Ready For A Good Time?. Three singles have been lifted from the album, with 'Station Rat' being released in August of last year and 'Boys' being released back in February.
