WNBA Team Releases Rookie After Indiana Fever Game
WNBA Team Releases Rookie After Indiana Fever Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Fever hosted the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday, falling 85-75 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. The Sparks were led by forward Azura Stevens, who had 23 points and seven rebounds, and guard Kelsey Plum, who added 21 points and six assists. Advertisement Unfortunately for the Fever, the injury bug continues. Guard Caitlin Clark did not play in the contest due to a left groin injury. She also missed Friday's matchup against the Dallas Wings, marking her seventh absence this season. She remains day to day. On another note, the Lynne Roberts-coached squad's season-long struggles were not evident in their victory against Indiana, as the Sparks shot 50% from the field with four of their five starters scoring in double figures. Los Angeles Sparks coach Lynne Roberts.© Kirby Lee-Imagn Images On Sunday, the team announced they were waiving rookie forward Liatu King. She averaged 3.0 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.3 assists in 12 games this season. Advertisement "The Los Angeles Sparks have waived forward Liatu King," the team's public relations group wrote on social media. King was selected in the third round of the 2025 WNBA draft but did not fill the role Los Angeles envisioned for her. At the college level, the Washington D.C. native played four seasons for the Pittsburgh Panthers before transferring to join the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for her final year. In that last season, King averaged 11.5 points, 10.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. The Sparks (5-11) are hoping to turn their season around after enduring three separate three-game losing streaks so far in 2025. Los Angeles sits sixth in the Western Conference, and there's a chance 2024 first-round pick Cameron Brink will return to the lineup at some point after suffering a torn ACL in her rookie year. Tale of the Tape: Team Stats - Notre Dame vs. TCU
Notre Dame breezed through the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament like they were nothing. Now, it gets a more formidable opponent in the Sweet 16. That opponent is TCU, which already beat the Irish once earlier this season.
