Georgia football offers son of Dallas Cowboys legend
The Georgia Bulldogs have offered a scholarship to five-star linebacker recruit Cooper Witten. Witten is a member of the class of 2027.
The 6-foot-2, 210-pound linebacker plays high school football for Liberty Christian in Argyle, Texas. 247Sports ranks Witten as the No. 17 recruit in the country, the No. 1 linebacker and the No. 4 prospect in Texas.
Does the Witten name sound familiar? Well, Cooper Witten's father is former legendary Dallas Cowboys tight in Jason Witten. Witten now is the head coach at Liberty Christian, so he gets the special opportunity to coach his son. Witten has helped Liberty Christian win back-to-back state championships.
Jason Witten is fourth all-time in career NFL receptions with 1,228. He made 11 Pro Bowls in 17 NFL seasons with the Dallas Cowboys (16) and Las Vegas Raiders (one). However, Cooper Witten is positioned to make a name for himself.
One school to watch for Cooper Witten is Tennessee. Jason Witten played college football at Tennessee.
Georgia is always a contender to land the best linebacker recruits in the country. The Bulldogs routinely sign multiple top 10 linebacker recruits and are showing no signs of slowing down.
"Blessed and grateful to receive an offer from the University of Georgia," said Witten via social media after receiving an offer from Georgia. The five-star linebacker has recent scholarship offers from Texas, Arizona State, Ohio State and Nebraska.
