Picture: Instagram Image: Instagram Former Miss South Africa, Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni, was left stunned when her husband, Dr. Musa Mthombeni, along with a group of close friends, orchestrated a surprise party in honour of the 10-year anniversary of her crowning. The intimate gathering was kept a complete secret, with her loved ones masterfully pulling off the elaborate plan. Reflecting on the surprise, Laurie-Mthombeni took to Instagram to express her amazement at how well everyone had kept the secret. 'I spent time with almost every person at this celebration in the week leading up to it, and not one of them slipped up. Sooo, you guys are all good liars—scary, but also impressive,' she joked in her post. Just hours before the surprise, Laurie-Mthombeni was unknowingly preparing for her own celebration. She recorded a GRWM (Get Ready With Me) video, believing she was attending the 34th birthday party of a close friend. 'I was all set to go to my bestie's birthday, only to find out that everyone I love was actually in on a plan to celebrate my 10-year Miss SA anniversary,' she later shared on TikTok. In the video, she proudly showcased her outfit, a stunning pink floral sweetheart dress from Limbo Boutique, completely unaware that the event was actually in her honour. Laurie-Mthombeni had already reflected on the milestone the day before, marking March 29 as the 10-year anniversary of the night she was crowned Miss South Africa. 'On March 29, 2015, Liesl Laurie from Eldorado Park was crowned Miss South Africa. My life changed forever. All my ouma's sacrifices paid off. All my mom's prayers were answered. All my hard work finally bore fruit. God granted me the opportunity of a lifetime—without His grace, I would never have made it to that stage. A blessing. An honor. A true Cinderella story…' she wrote. Her husband also took to social media to celebrate her, sharing photos from the surprise event.
