Tabu as antagonist in Puri Jagannadh-Vijay Sethupathi film?
Telugu director Puri Jagannadh is going through a low phase in his career, especially after delivering two back-to-back commercial failures with Liger and Double Ismart. But that has not stopped him from announcing new ventures. He has started a biggie featuring Vijay Sethupathi and Tabu in lead roles. It was earlier reported that a chunk of the shooting will happen in Chennai, with the rest to be canned in a specially-erected set in Hyderabad. Puri Jagannadh and Tabu A fan of Telugu shows? The actress will sport a new look in this film, it is said. This is not the first time that Tabu has done a negative role in her career. Even in the past, in films like Maqbool and Andhadhun, she played characters with grey shades. There is a decent buzz for this film in the trade circles. Vijay Sethupathi is one of the top stars, and whatever he does is always special. So, his collaboration with Puri Jagannadh has become a talking point all over, and everyone is eager to see what the director is up to with Vijay. Interestingly, in an earlier interview Vijay had said that he was not interested in doing a direct Telugu film soon. But when Puri narrated the story, he did not think twice, as he was excited by the script and said okay to the film. Samyuktha Menon bags a 'crazy' role in Vijay Sethupathi's next On the other hand, the yet-untitled film also has Samyuktha Menon as the female lead. She is also getting a major role that has been described as 'crazy'. Some key faces from Telugu cinema will be seen in key roles in this film, which will have a pan-India release. Puri is looking at a comeback to the good times with this film and wants to silence his critics. That is the reason he has roped in star performers like Tabu and Vijay Sethupathi. With Tabu now playing a character with grey shades, it will be very interesting to see how all this unfolds in the days to come.

Vijay Deverakonda on Adding ‘The': ‘I just wanted to be known by my name'
Vijay Deverakonda addressed the controversy surrounding his decision to add 'The' to his name. He revealed that it stemmed from a desire to avoid restrictive taglines like "Southern Sensation" and to be recognized simply as Vijay Deverakonda throughout India. The actor emphasized that "The" was a subtle way to stand out without limiting his identity, even if it sparked criticism. Vijay Deverakonda had added the prefix 'The' to his name some time ago. But it continues to stir plenty of conversation. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Tollywood heartthrob spoke about how the prefix came about and why he felt no need for a grand tagline. 'There was a crazy amount of backlash just because I added 'The'. What's funny is, everyone else has taglines. People younger than me, older than me, even those who debuted before me use them. I was probably the only one without one,' he said. He explained that during Liger promotions, his team encouraged him to adopt a tagline, especially since the media had already coined labels like 'Southern Sensation' and 'Rowdy Star' for him. 'But none of those felt right. Southern Sensation felt limiting. I'm from India, and I want to be known across the country. All those tags felt restrictive. So I said, I just want to be known as Vijay Deverakonda. And if you really need a tag, 'The' is enough — nothing more,' he recalled. The choice, he admitted, didn't go down well with everyone. 'People reacted like, 'How can you call yourself The?' And I was like — that's the whole point. I don't want a tag. If even 'The' feels like too much for people, I don't need anything beyond my name. Vijay Deverakonda is enough.' -TNN

Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda's Kingdom to skip its Hindi release, here's why?
Telugu star Vijay Deverakonda is going through a bad phase in his career, as three of his last Telugu films, Khushi, Liger, and The Family Star, ended as massive flops at the box office. So, he took some time off and signed a film titled Kingdom under the direction of Gautham Tinnanuri, who made hit films like Jersey and Malli Raava. Vijay Deverakonda A fan of Vijay Deverakonda? Stream his films, Arjun Reddy, Liger, and Geetha Govindam on Jio Hotstar via OTTplay Premium Vijay Deverakonda's biggie, Kingdom, will not release in Hindi Kingdom has been in the making for the last two years and is finally all set for a grand release on July 31, 2025. The makers have kick-started the promotions, and the latest update is that Kingdom will not have a Hindi release. Initially, when the first look came out, the movie was supposed to release in Hindi, and the teaser was also released with the title Saamraajya. But now, Kingdom will only be released in the four South Indian languages. We at OTTplay have come to know that one of the basic reasons for this is Netflix, which is the official OTT partner. They did not want to have the Kingdom in Hindi because the film had already been postponed twice and was taking time to lock its release date. So, that means Kingdom will now directly release in Hindi on Netflix whenever the film lands on OTT. The action drama has been produced by Naga Vamsi of Sithara Entertainments. Star director Trivikram Srinivas is also co-producing this film on a massive scale. Anirudh is composing the music, and his background score is one of the biggest highlights of the film, and also the main reason for the film getting postponed. Speaking about the film, Vijay Deverakonda says that when he decided to team up with Gautham Tinnanuri, he had two scripts to choose from. But the moment he came to know that a big production house known to him was already making a film on that subject, he chose Kingdom. Vijay Deverakonda will be seen in an action-packed role, and his look has already gone viral. He plays a cop for the first time, who goes on a special mission. We at OTTplay have also come to know that Kingdom is about reincarnation. This aspect has not been revealed in the trailers, but one can easily understand that Vijay Deverakonda will be seen in dual roles. Bhagyashree Borse of Mr. Bachchan fame is playing the female lead, and this is the first time that she has been paired with Vijay Deverakonda. The makers have spent a lot of money on the VFX and visuals, and that is evident in the promos. Kingdom is a massive action drama and looks stylish. Vijay has pinned a lot of hopes on this film to make a comeback. But sadly, the film will not have a Hindi release due to logistical issues. Stay tuned for more updates on Kingdom.

Why Vijay Deverakonda Faced Flak For Adding 'The' Tag To His Name: "There Was A Crazy Amount Of Backlash"
New Delhi: Telugu superstar Vijay Deverakonda has made headlines once again, this time for removing the honorific "The" tag from his name. The decision came after he faced massive trolling for using "The" title in his name during Liger promotions. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Vijay addressed the criticism and revealed that he has now dropped the tag. Talking about the backlash, Vijay said, "That was a whole situation in itself. There was a crazy amount of backlash because 'The' was added to my name. Interestingly, no other person has ever received backlash for something like that. You can have any name—from Universal Star to People's Star—and people younger than me, older than me, those who debuted before me, everyone has a tagline. I was probably the only one without one. Nobody else gets backlash." Vijay shared that his team suggested adding a tag to his name during Liger promotions as fans and media had already started giving him various titles like "Southern sensation" and "Rowdy star". Initially hesitant, he eventually agreed to their suggestion. "When they write articles, the press, sometimes, likes to call me 'Southern Sensation', 'Rowdy boy', 'Rowdy Star', and different variants. I don't know how they pick these things. I am not 'Southern Sensation', I am of India. I want to be known, at least, by India, someday. And I felt everything was limiting. I want to be known as Vijay Deverakonda," he recalled. The actor revealed that he has now asked his team to remove 'The' from his name. He said, "I thought, if you do need a tag - 'The' is enough. But, people went, 'How can you put 'The?'. But, the whole point of 'The' is that I don't want a tag and if 'The' is a problem, then I don't want it. If you don't want, I don't either. I told my team to chop it off and Vijay Deverakonda is enough." Vijay Deverakonda will next be seen in Kingdom. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film will hit theatres on July 31.
