Stevie Wonder is the last act to grace the stage at Cardiff's brand new Blackweir Live venue this summer, and we're on the scene bringing you all the information you need to get ready - or enjoy from afar if you don't have a ticket. As city centre roads close around the Castle, Bute Park and Civic Centre, we'll bring you the build up for the show, one of only three outdoor dates for the global superstar in the UK in 2025. Traffic is expected ahead of final gig of Blackweir Live, as Stevie bring his Love, Light & Song show to the Welsh capital, and we'll keep you updated on the conditions of the roads. The gig series, which has seen Noah Kahan, Alanis Morrissette and Slayer perform on Bute Park's Blackweir has been met with praise and criticism. This is one of the few outdoor venue stops on the five-date 2025 UK tour, and anticipation is high for his Welsh gig, as the star last performed in Wales over 50 years ago. An American-Ghanaian singer-songwriter and musician, Stevie is one of popular music's most celebrated and prominent figures. He has amassed 49 Top 40 singles, 32 Number One singles, and worldwide sales of more than 100 million units to date. Stevie has won 25 Grammy Awards, including the prestigious Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, a Golden Globe and an Academy Award. Meanwhile, his iconic album, Songs In The Key of Life, is archived in the USA's National Recording Registry of the Library of Congress, for its cultural, historic and aesthetic significance. In 1965, he performed at the Capitol Theatre at Cardiff city centre when he was just 14 years old, alongside the likes of The Supremes, Martha and the Vandellas, Smokey Robinson and Georgie Fame, as part of the Tamla Motown Tour. The performer returned to Wales in 1971, where he once again performed at the Capitol Theatre alongside Martha and the Vandellas. What times do gates open for Stevie Wonder at Blackweir Live and what are the set times? Gates will open at 5pm for the gig, which is expected to end at 10.30pm. Set times are not confirmed for Cardiff yet. However, his gig in Manchester this weekend ran for almost two-and-a-half hours, he does have an amazing backcatalogue! There are many different entrances to the park which fans can then walk up to the entrance of Blackweir Live where they will show their tickets and go through security checks. There are two entrances on North Road, which will be closed, one right near the entrance to Blackweir Live and one further south where Corbett Road joins North Road. Prams and pushchairs are not permitted. Will there be road closures for Stevie Wonder in Cardiff? City centre road closures will take place from 4pm to midnight for the concert. Castle Street throughout its length, from its junction with Westgate Street Duke Street and Kingsway North Road from its junction with Colum Road throughout to Boulevard De Nantes; Boulevard De Nantes at its junction with Park Place (Access for buses and taxis/residents will be managed to Greyfriars Road) Cowbridge Road East from Cathedral Road through to its junction with Westgate Street with access to Westgate Street being permitted. From 7am, access to part of the Civic Centre will be controlled throughout the day. Roads affected include: King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road and Gorsedd Gardens Road. The right-hand turn from Colum Road into Corbett Road will also be suspended for the road closure times to permit and manage access to residents and businesses off Corbett Road. Parking is available at the Civic Centre and Sophia Gardens from 8am until midnight for £20 a day for cars and £30 a day for coaches. To get to the Civic Centre you can exit Junction 32 of the M4, head south on the A470 towards the city centre and follow signage to the civic centre. For Sophia Gardens parking exit junction 32 off the M4. City centre car parks such as St David's Shopping Centre, John Lewis, Capitol Shopping Centre, and NCP (Adam Street, Dumfries Place and Greyfriars Road) will also be available for those traveling by car. Train travel for Stevie Wonder at Blackweir Live Transport for Wales has confirmed that they will be closing the Cathays station after the event at 10pm for the safety of passengers. Access will remain for accessibility requirements only and for customers alighting. The Penarth Road car park at Cardiff Central station will be closed from 6am to midnight on the day of each event. Additional services and extra carriages to existing services will be put in place by Great Western Rail and Transport for Wales during the Blackweir Live events. A post-event queuing system will be in place at Cardiff Central station by line of route, with Valleys at the rear and all other routes will be located at the front of Central Square. Picnic blankets can be brought into Blackweir but must only be placed at the back of the festival arena. Although you are unable to bring food and drink into the venue, you won't go hungry with a wide array of food and drink stalls inside the venue offering some of the most delicious cuisines. One sealed water bottle is permitted per person max 500ml. One empty reusable water bottle is permitted. There will be free water re-fill stations at the venue. If you have a medical condition, then a doctor's note will permit diet-specific food and drink only. Assistant dogs are permitted on site. Legendary singer-songwriter Stevie Wonder has been announced as the headline act in a series of outdoor gigs in Cardiff this summer. The 74-year-old will perform in the capital for the first time since the 1970s in a gig at Blackweir Fields, on the banks of the River Taff. The 25-time Grammy winning singer, songwriter, musician and producer will bring his Love, Light & Song show to the city on 9 performance is one of several at the new city centre venue this year, with Noah Kahan, Kings of Leon, Alanis Morissette and Slayer also headlining. Oasis and Sir Tom Jones have also announced shows in the city over the summer.
