His arrival follows those of Lyall Cameron and Max Aarons as the Light Blues look to beef up their squad ahead of the Champions League qualifiers. Rangers take on Panathinaikos in the first leg of their second round qualifying tie at Ibrox on July 21, with the squad needing to be submitted four days previously. Gers boss Martin is in the hunt for defensive additions, with the Light Blues understood to be interested in Wolves centre-back Nasser Djiga and Peterborough's Emmanuel Fernandez. But he could also be adding another midfielder. The Daily Mail report that the Light Blues are in talks with Luton over the signing of Thelo Aasgaard. The 23-year old only joined the Hatters in January in a £3million move from Wigan. But Luton's relegation to the Championship means it's likely he'll be on the move again this summer. Born in Liverpool, Aasgaard plays internationally for Norway. He represented the country from under-16 level through to under-21s. Ex-Rangers supremo David Murray on the club's new owners and why Gio shouldn't have been sacked In March this year, Aasgaard had a senior Norway debut to remember when he scored and assisted in a thumping 5-0 win over Moldova in World Cup qualifying. Aasgaard was in the Liverpool academy as a youngster before joining Wigan in 2016. He made his first team breakthrough with the Latics in 2020 and went on to make 164 league appearances for the club, scoring 32 goals. Aasgaard moved on to Luton in January this year, scoring twice in 17 games. He couldn't prevent the club from suffering a second straight relegation. 4 Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Joe Rothwell brings 'pure baller' status to Rangers as Leeds boss Daniel Farke ranks him with best in the country
Russell Martin has swooped to be reunited with his former player as he makes it two signings from Bournemouth this summer Rangers have landed a 'pure baller' in Joe Rothwell. That's the verdict of Leeds United boss Daniel Farke who labelled Russell Martin's newest recruit as one of the best in England with the ball at his feet. The midfielder joins Max Aarons in swapping Bournemouth for Rangers after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal. He becomes the third arrival this summer with Lyall Cameron checking in on a pre-contract from Dundee. The Ibrox boss now has his sights set on defenders as he chases three more targets. But the Light Blues faithful have seen their new man getting a glowing report from his old boss last term as he helped Leeds - also part of the 49ers Enterprises umbrella - to English Championship glory and with that a return to the English Premier League. Speaking back in February to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Farke said: "We don't have to speak about his quality, he's a pure baller - with the ball probably one of the best in this country. "What he does in terms of passing, his technique and tidy touches is outstanding. Sometimes in this position you need a few different skills or you would win Premier League title after title and have 150 caps for England. But when it comes down to dominate the game and be there with tidy touches, to drive the game forward, if you enjoy football you enjoy him playing. It's great we have him as a really good option." Rothwell will join his new Rangers team-mates on the training field as preparations step up a gear for Panathinaikos. The Champions League qualifying campaign is on the horizon with the Light Blues starting in the second round with three two-legged ties needing successfully negotiated for a spot in the big time. Speaking about his move, the 30-year-old told the Rangers website: 'My first reaction? A yes straight away, obviously then with the manager coming in as well it made that decision a little bit easier for me. 'Working with him and knowing what type of guy he is and how he wants to do things that was an even bigger pull for me, but the club speaks for itself really. 'It doesn't take much telling to you and as soon as the interest was there it was an immediate yes from me. 'I have said it in past interviews just as a man he is one of the best I have come across. 'He is all about the players, he will also put the players first and I am sure the lads will get to know that as they get to know him a bit better. 'Tactically and things like that he is brilliant as well so I am really looking forward now to getting to work under him again."

Conor Coady on Rangers transfer brink a year after Ibrox near miss led them to Robin Propper
The Scouser is set to join Joe Rothwell in a double deal for Russell Martin Rangers are closing in on the signing of Conor Coady - a year after Philippe Clement almost landed him. The Light Blues are expected to get the go-ahead from Leicester City over the next 24 to 48 hours to sign the former England international. Rangers are ready to offer the 32-year-old a long term deal to get him to Ibrox - with Joe Rothwell also set to move to Ibrox from Bournemouth to make it a double signing. Coady had previously worked with Rangers' sporting director Kevin Thelwell and that was believed to have been the catalyst for the deal. Record Sport, however, can reveal that Coady has been on the Rangers' radar for more than a year. The Light Blues almost signed the big central defender last season. Clement and former transfer chief Nils Koppen were close to agreeing a season-loan deal with Leicester City last summer. Coady had been deemed surplus to requirements by Enzo Maresca after the Foxes promotion back to the English Premier League. That opened the door for Rangers and was when Clement made his move. The deal was on the verge of happening and talks had taken place before Maresca left for Chelsea. New Leicester City boss Steve Cooper then came in and insisted Coady was going to be a big part of his plans. The season didn't go to plan as Cooper was quickly sacked and the Midlands club ended up getting relegated. Rangers then made a move for Dutch defender Robin Propper from FC Twente. Coady, however, looks like he will get his move to Rangers at the second time of asking! Now Russell Martin looks set to land him after his predecessor, Clement, missed out. Rangers throw doors open to Spanish side for new kit inspired by historic Ibrox moment
La Liga outfit Osasuna jetted into Glasgow to shoot footage for their latest strip to commemorate 40 years since Euro debut Rangers threw open the doors of Ibrox to help a Spanish side promote their new kit inspired by a historic Ibrox moment. La Liga outfit Osasuna jetted into Glasgow to shoot footage for their latest strip inside the home of the Light Blues as they released a design that commemorates the 40th anniversary of their debut in European competition in Glasgow back in 1985. They faced Rangers in the UEFA Cup and it was a 1-0 win in Glasgow to the Light Blues but the Spanish side emerged victorious in the return with a 2-0 win. The kit launch will be presented through three episodes with the first one titled 'The Journey' which shows two supporters travelling to Glasgow to enjoy the first-ever match for Osasuna on the European stage. A section on the club website explains the reason in more detail. It reads: "The new Macron and Osasuna collection will be presented through three episodes in audiovisual and photographic format in collaboration with Equipo FC. "The first, titled "The Journey," emulates the trip of two young fans to Glasgow to enjoy Osasuna's first-ever match in the former UEFA Cup. "The match saw Osasuna lose 1-0 to Rangers, a result they would eventually overturn at El Sadar (2-0), wearing the same jersey honored thanks to goals from Patxi Rípodas and Enrique Martín, whose celebration left an iconic image of him perched on the goalposts with his fist raised. The second and third kits will be unveiled after the San Fermín festivities." The video footage in part one shows the trip to Ibrox and then flashes back to some moments from the game. The commentary states: "So, It's a night of new experiences for Osasuna. "Their first ever match in European competition and played in the most remarkable conditions for them I'm sure. "With the rain totally sodden, it's been coming down in torrents all day and in fact has increased in volume as kick off approached." Robin Propper features for Rangers in pre-season friendly amid exit talks as Gers struggle in behind closed doors clash
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) RANGERS officially kick off their new campaign under Russell Martin in less than a month's time. The Light Blues face Panathinaikos in a blockbuster Champions League showdown at Ibrox on July 22, with the return leg pencilled in for the following week on July 30. Sign up for the Rangers newsletter Sign up 2 Russell Martin has already overseen one game as Rangers boss Credit: PA 2 The result go Gers' way Credit: Willie Vass Gers boss Martin, 39, is working tirelessly behind the scenes to bring new signings to the club before that first leg against the Greek giants. He's already signed Max Aarons on loan from Bournemouth, while Lyall Cameron has also joined the club after penning a pre-contract earlier this year. In the meantime Martin is weighing up the futures of several players already within the club who could leave during this current window. One of those players is Dutch outcast Robin Propper as Rangers are still in talks with FC Twente over a potential return to Enschede just 12 months on from his move to Glasgow. Martin had the chance to see him in action today as he was involved in a pre-season friendly which was held behind closed doors. Rangers faced Welsh champions The New Saints in a game believed to be held at their training ground at Auchenhowie. And SunSport understands the result didn't go in Rangers' favour as TNS came out on top to win 1-0. It's unclear which players were involved exactly but SunSport understands Propper played along with skipper James Tavernier and goalkeeper Liam Kelly. The match took place just 24 hours after TNS were held to a 1-1 draw by Scott Brown's Ayr United at East Kilbride's home ground K Park. It might not have been the result Martin would've hoped for but TNS are further ahead in their pre-season preparation as they returned for training much earlier given their campaign gets underway in less than two weeks. Ex-Rangers supremo David Murray on the club's new owners and why Gio shouldn't have been sacked The Welsh outfit also have Champions League qualifiers to attend to but they enter the competition in the first round qualfier, while Gers take on Panathinaikos in the second. As aforementioned, the first leg will take place at Ibrox but it won't be the first game fans can attend at the Govan stadium this month. That's because the Light Blues host Club Brugge next week on Sunday, July 6. Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page
