Tasman Keith - '70 Somethin'' (live for Like A Version)

Witness Tasman Keith hold important space with his performance of '70 Somethin'' live in the Like A Version studio. Swirling with a rumbling power, Tasman spits about his Uncle's story – who spent his life in prison – and the resilience he showed in the face of his situation. "In the third verse I was like 'ok well if I was born in that generation, how would my life be impacted?'," he said. "Would I end up in a cell? Would I end up unfortunately dying in there? Or being a victim of police brutality?" Sit with this heavy but incredible performance from the Gumbaynggirr man, Bowraville's finest. Posted 42m ago 42 minutes ago Thu 26 Jun 2025 at 10:30pm

Tasman Keith covers Outkast 'B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad)' for Like A Version

What's cooler than being cool? Tasman Keith running it up on a stone-cold Outkast classic in the Like A Version studio. From Atlanta to the streets of Eora, the Gumbaynggirr man brought his own powerful spin on the alternative hip-hop duo's iconic 2000 hit, 'B.O.B. (Bombs Over Baghdad)'. "I grew up loving this song and it was always in the list for when I would do Like A Version," he said. "For me, just with a lot going on right now here and everywhere, it just felt like what I needed and what I wanted to say in the moment. And also to be able to pen a verse after an Andre 3000 verse is a challenge, and I wanted to take that on." After starting with Andre's flow, Tasman took it in his own direction where he spat venom on things that were more intimate and personal to him. "Speak on, you know, freedom of my people, freedom of all people," he said. "Really putting us at the forefront. The favourite line of the band was the 'Weetbix and powdered milk' bar, when I brought that to rehearsal it was like 'yeah, that's the one'." Run it back and check out more from Tasman Keith's debut in the Like A Version stuido below. Behind Tasman Keith's cover of Outkast 'B.O.B. Royel Otis Announce New Album ‘hickey', Out This August

Sydney/Eora indie darlings Royel Otis are back to leave another mark — literally. The duo have just announced their second studio album hickey will land this August 22nd. Serving as the follow-up to their breakout 2024 debut LP PRATTS & PAIN, the new record continues their dreamy, guitar-laced signature sound, kicking off with previously released lead single 'moody', produced by longtime collaborator Blake Slatkin. So, why hickey? According to the band, 'because love bites harder than any other emotion in the world'. It's been a whirlwind year for the duo, who've spent 2024 levelling up in a big way. PRATTS & PAIN earned critical acclaim and streaming heat, while their viral Like A Version cover of Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 'Murder on the Dancefloor' absolutely dominated — climbing the charts, storming the internet, and landing them in the triple j Hottest 100. Off the back of that success, Royel Otis have played sold-out shows across Australia, the UK, Europe and the US, racked up millions of streams, and made high-profile appearances at Coachella, The Great Escape, and SXSW Austin. They were also recently nominated for an APRA Music Award, cementing their spot as one of the most exciting names in Australian indie right now. Inhaler cover Kavinsky 'Nightcall' for Like A Version

Pick up the phone, Inhaler is dialling in with their debut Like A Version, taking on Kavinsky's 'Nightcall'. Or you might know it best as the theme from the 2011 film, Drive . Steering the track away from its gritty French house foundations, the Irish band shifted into gear and transformed it into an indie anthem. The ability to make that work is impressive, really. "I think because it was a movie soundtrack, that kind of felt different to covering just a normal pop song," singer Elijah Hewson said. "That made us kind of lean into it a bit." The band's been testing the waters with their fans by playing the original track over the speakers before their sets recently, a bit of subliminal messaging for what they were planning to cover. "We almost don't overthink these kind of covers for better or for worse," bassist Robert Keating said. "But it's nice to try and be out of your comfort zone sometimes. And I think that when we pulled things out and gave the song a bit of space I feel like it kind of revealed itself to be a bit more emotional and have a bit more weight to it as well." A ripper debut in the Like A Version archives from Inhaler. Pure class. Check out more from their visit to the studios below. Carla Wehbe covers ABBA's 'The Winner Takes It All' for Like A Version

Take a moment to let Carla Wehbe's version of ABBA's 'The Winner Takes It All' really soak in. Right to your bones. Close everything else and just let this wash over you. That's how good it is. It's not often we get a full-blown goosebumps sesh in the studio, but this is certainly one for the books. Surrounded by a string section, backing vocals, her band and a pedal steel guitar, the Eora/Sydney-born Carla flexes her powerful and considered vocals in this stunning performance. Literally full body shivers . "They're one of my biggest inspirations," Carla said. "I grew up listening to ABBA, my mum is obsessed with ABBA. So it was just a song that soundtracked my growing up, I guess. And I always dreamed of doing an ABBA song if I ever got to do Like A Version." That deep emotion comes through so clearly in Carla's performance. Coming from deep in her soul and delivered with conviction, you can feel the years of shared love of the Swedish band radiating out of this one. We can only bet that Mama Wehbe is going to be really proud of this performance from Carla. Hopefully she's singing and dancing along, too.
