Top Democrat Hakeem Jeffries brutally mocked after getting busted in embarrassing Photoshop fail
A top Democrat has been accused of Photoshopping himself in an Instagram post. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries raised eyebrows on Sunday after posing for a photo in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York. In the image, the 54-year-old leans against a park bench with his hands in his pockets. 'Home sweet home,' he captioned it, before resharing the post on his Instagram Stories with Lil' Kim's Lighter's Up playing. However, fans quickly noticed that the bench Jeffries was leaning on was drastically warped around his hips and upper thighs, indicating that the image may have been edited. 'Bro why did you Photoshop your hips? Or are park benches in Brooklyn wavy like that?' one follower commented. 'You've got a terrible social media team, my man. Work on those editing skills,' added a second. A third wrote, 'How is this post helpful with everything going on in our country.' Jeffries was also brutally mocked on X, formerly Twitter, including by a number of popular political influencers. 'Hakeem Jeffries is such a charisma black hole that it's warping the fabric of spacetime,' wrote journalist Ken Klippenstein. 'Hakeem Jeffries slimming himself in Photoshop is the most transparency we've seen from Democrats in years,' said Republican commentator Erin Maguire. 'LMAO! Hakeem Jeffries tried to make a super relatable post on his Instagram, but he is so photoshopped everyone noticed the entire BENCH is WARPED,' wrote Florida-based pundit Eric Daugherty. has contacted Hakeem for comment. It comes just days after Jeffries put a few lawmakers to sleep in the House chamber during a marathon overnight session while pushing back against President Donald Trump's 'Big, Beautiful Bill.' While Republicans worked to gather the votes necessary for final passage of the massive Trump-backed bill last week, Democrats, led by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, deployed delay tactics. Jeffries took to the floor just before 5am to begin an arduous, hours-long speech about the dangers presented by the GOP legislation. Social media was ablaze with comments from people calling out the politician's Photoshop job 'I feel the obligation Mr. Speaker to stand on this House floor and take my sweet time,' the Democrat leader proclaimed well into his remarks. His speech began with stories of Americans who could be impacted by the Trump bill's cuts to Medicaid and social programs. As of 9.45am, the New Yorker was still droning on while several of his fellow Democrats could be seen behind him with eyes closed and heads folded down. Despite his enthusiasm for hampering the GOP's plans, his colleagues seemed less excited. In fact, many appeared to be asleep. 'While Hakeem Jeffries continues putting people to sleep with his lies about the One Big Beautiful Bill, we remain focused on delivering historic tax cuts for families and small businesses, secure borders, and energy dominance,' Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, R-Iowa, wrote on X. White House Congressional Communications Director Charyssa Parent noted on X: 'Rep. Jeffries has put his own members to sleep.'

What to do in Chicago this weekend: Puerto Rican Parade, Counting Crows and Old Town Art Fair
The parade is Saturday but the 44th Annual Fiestas Patronales Puertorriqueñas is already underway in Humboldt Park. Featuring a packed music lineup, a carnival, a fashion show, a Father's Day picnic, dominoes, cultural performances, artisan vendors and more, you could plan your whole weekend here. The parade will step off at noon on June 14, on Division Street from Campbell Avenue to Humboldt Drive. The holiday falls on Thursday this year but you can start your Juneteenth celebrations early this weekend in Bronzeville and Beverly/Morgan Park. Both neighborhoods will feature family-friendly festivals centered on Black culture. More events are planned throughout the city on June 19 and beyond, including the Juneteenth Music Fest, featuring Ashanti, Lil Kim, Mýa and more. Now in its 90th season, the Grant Park Music Festival continues its opening week with chorus director Christopher Bell leading 'The Planets' by Gustav Holst — perfect music to enjoy under a summer sky. The Grant Park Orchestra and Chorus will perform Lili Boulanger's 'Psalm 24' and Jake Runestad's 'Earth Symphony.' This free concert series is a Chicago delight. On her first tour since 2018, the Mexican singer-songwriter will perform introspective songs from her latest album, 'Cancionera.' Recorded in one take and inspired by her 40th birthday, 'Cancionera' was produced by Adȧn Jodorowsky; he also collaborated with Lafourcade on her Grammy-winning 2022 album, 'De Todas las Flores.' The Canadian singer-songwriter plays The Salt Shed on the heels of her spring release, 'Paid in Memories.' Counting Crows roll into Ravinia with more than 30 years of tunes to play. Their tour marks the release of 'Butter Miracle, the Complete Sweets!' Special guest The Gaslight Anthem lends a Jersey Shore edge. He's back, this time with the Chicago Philharmonic backing him — and in an era when AI is no longer a mere plot device. Feel the buzz of '80s synth in your gut as you watch a 30-something Arnold Schwarzenegger star as the iconic cyborg assassin in James Cameron's sci-fi classic. Old Town will be awash in art this weekend as both the Old Town Art Fair and Wells Street Art Festival set up shop. Celebrating 75 years and featuring fine art, the Old Town Art Fair will host more than 200 artists, a garden walk, live music and children's entertainment (magic show, face painting). A few blocks away, the 50-year-old Wells Street Art Festival will feature more than 100 artists, live music and children's entertainment (art-making activities, petting zoo). Each has its own tone — Old Town plays more garden party to Wells Street's block party — so take a day to explore them both. Sure, Midsommarfest fetes Andersonville's Swedish roots, but it also serves as a joyous kick-off to Pride season in Chicago. Drop in for the maypole dance Saturday morning, stroll Clark Street to browse artisan and vintage vendors, listen to live music, check out the drag lineup and visit the kids activity area. Or, just go to enjoy one of the city's most welcoming neighborhoods. Get your game on this weekend at the Chicago Public Library. Gamer's Universe, organized by Chicago Teen Gamer's Guild in partnership with high school-aged interns at CPL, celebrates all aspects of gaming culture. Explore original video games created by guild members, cosplay or show off your skills at gaming stations throughout Harold Washington Library Center.

Brown Lip Liner Must-Haves: Saint Laurahs' Picks For Melanated Girls
Brown lip liner isn't just a trend — it's a legacy. Once born out of necessity, this beauty staple has grown into a symbol of cultural identity and creativity for Black and Latina women. In the decades when the beauty industry failed to provide inclusive options, women of color innovated with what they had — often using brown eyeliner pencils to define their lips, contour their features, and create iconic looks that have stood the test of time. Today, brown lip liner continues to evolve, with major brands finally catching up and offering a more inclusive range of shades. To dig deeper into its significance and explore the best liners on the market right now, I spent a day at Sephora and Ulta in SoHo, NYC, with celebrity makeup artist Saint Laurahs', whose clients include JT, Doechii, Baby Tate, the Claremont Twins, and more. 'For Black and Latina women, brown liner were never just about makeup — it was about making something out of nothing,' Saint explains. 'It became a creative act of self-definition when the industry wasn't making products for our undertones.' Saint reflects on the legacy of icons like Mary J. Blige, Lil' Kim, and Selena, who all made brown lips their signature look. 'It was bold but still natural. It enhanced our features in a way that pinks and reds just couldn't.' Brown lip liner has always been more than just a product — it's a cultural tool. From the underground beauty hacks of the '90s to today's high-end shelves, it continues to reflect the creativity, resilience, and evolving standards of beauty within communities of color. Finding the right brown lip liner is still a challenge. 'The biggest issue with brown liners today is the undertone,' Saint says. 'A lot of liners are either too warm or too dark. You have to balance them — sometimes by pairing with a pink lipstick or layering with gloss — to soften the look.' Saint matches lip liners to her clients by skin tone, undertone, and the vibe they're going for. 'If someone wants a natural look, I go lighter. For something bolder, I'll pick a deep brown. There's no rule — just intention.' 'This one is a perfect cool tone brown for lighter clients,' Saint says. 'It blends beautifully and doesn't overpower the lips.' Refy Lip Sculpt in Fawn Refy Long-lasting and versatile, this light brown liner comes with a setting liquid to keep it in place. 'It works on fair to medium complexions and enhances any look,' she notes. When asked to build her ideal trio, Saint didn't hesitate: Mac Lip Liner in Chestnut Mac Cosmetics 'This combo is playful, feminine, and universally flattering,' she says. Rare Beauty Kind Words Matte Lip Liner in Gifted Rare Beauty If you're looking for an everyday nude lip that pairs with any outfit or occasion, Saint recommends:

Lil Kim's 'Monsoon Prayer' Partially Comes True, LA Gets Rain Amid Fires
Lil' Kim's prayers for Los Angeles rain have seemingly been answered, and fans are showing their gratitude. The Hip-Hop icon—who took to social media on Jan. 16 to 'pray for a monsoon' amid the LA wild fires—is now being praised for her heartfelt plea. 'Been sending strong prayers up for LA and everyone affected by the fires,' she initially wrote on her Instagram Story. 'This is heartbreaking. I pray to Jesus that God make it monsoon in LA.' Days later, on Saturday (Jan. 25), rain finally arrived, offering relief to the exhausted firefighters battling relentless flames fueled by dry vegetation and strong winds. Heavy rains and thunderstorms are now forecast through Tuesday (Jan. 28), though the sudden showers have also triggered flood warnings in certain areas. According to CBC, 'rain fell on parts of Southern California on Sunday (Jan. 26) and the scattered showers were expected to continue overnight, boosting the risk of toxic ash runoff in areas scorched by Los Angeles-area wildfires. Flood watches were in effect through 4 p.m. Monday (Jan. 27) for burn areas from recent fires that broke out around the Pacific Palisades neighborhood in Los Angeles, Altadena and Castaic Lake,' said Joe Sirard, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Oxnard. Fans wasted no time crediting Lil' Kim for the long-awaited rainfall. 'It's raining in LA! Everyone say thank you @LilKim,' one user wrote, while another added, 'Thank you Lil Kim for the rain this weekend, couldn't have done it without you!!' Her initial tweet, however, had sparked some controversy, with critics pointing out that a monsoon could bring more damage to an already devastated region. In response to the backlash, she defended her statement, explaining, 'What LA really needs is rain — so what's the issue? Doesn't everyone understand that a monsoon is heavy rain?' While the rainfall has brought a much-needed break in the fire crisis, officials continue to warn of new dangers, including potential debris flows in burned areas. Mayor Karen Bass has issued emergency orders to expedite recovery efforts, as the city grapples with both destruction and rebuilding. As of Jan. 24, fires across L.A. have killed at least 28 people, destroyed more than 16,000 structures and charred about 76 square miles, according to CBS. Among those who lost their homes in the devastation are several celebrities, including Tina Knowles, Jhené Aiko, Keyshia Cole, and others.
