15 special cakes for Sabah Governor's birthday distributed to welfare homes, orphanages

KOTA KINABALU (June 17): A total of 15 specially crafted cakes, celebrating the 74th official birthday of Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman, were distributed to welfare homes and orphanages.
In a brief speech when receiving the cakes at the Istana Seri Kinabalu on Tuesday, Tun Musa said the distribution ensured that the anniversary celebration could be enjoyed by people from all walks of life.
Among the standout cakes was a Rolls Royce Ghost-themed cake in midnight blue and gold-brown, donated by Sutera Harbour Resort. The cake, made by pastry chef Kee Roesdyen and four assistants, was a 30kg chocolate moist cake with 20kg of fondant, taking four days to complete.

Meanwhile, Shangri-La Rasa Ria Resort presented a 50kg buttercream cake inspired by the Beaufort Mosque replica and traditional Linangkit motifs from Tuaran, which took five days to prepare.
The Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) showcased a floating mosque-themed cake (Masjid Bandaraya) in honor of Zulhijjah month, designed by Chef De Partie Martha Edward Santani and three assistants.
Hyatt Regency Kinabalu contributed a swordfish replica cake, symbolizing the iconic roundabout near the hotel. The 20kg carrot, walnut, and date-flavored cake was prepared by Pastry Chef Awang Mohd Yusrinizam and four assistants over seven days.
Other contributors included: 5th Infantry Division Headquarters, Royal Malaysian Navy, Le Meridien Hotel, Hotel Horizon, Nexus Resort & Spa Karambunai, Hotel Promenade, Ming Garden Hotel, Dreamtel Kota Kinabalu, The Palace Hotel, Sabah Oriental Hotel anf Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Sabah Contingent.
Also present were Fifth Infantry Division Commander Major General Datuk Noorrul Azril Ariffin, Eastern Fleet Commander Mohd Norizal Fahrudin and Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun.
The official Sabah Governor's birthday celebration is on June 21.
