File Photo by Jim Ruymen/UPI | License Photo June 24 (UPI) -- Lionsgate has released a trailer for horror sequel The Strangers: Chapter 2, which picks up right where Chapter 1 left off. The trailer, released Tuesday, finds Maya (Madelaine Petsch) continuing to be terrorized by the trio of masked assailants in a small town where she and her boyfriend, Ryan (Froy Gutierrez), became stranded. The sequel finds Maya fleeing from the attackers while trying to unravel the mystery of their identities. Director Renny Harlin returns to helm the second film in the trilogy. All three movies were filmed back-to-back. Petsch previously said the sequels would delve deeper into the identities and motivations of the titular villains. "Some questions will be answered, of course, to get inside the machinations of 'the strangers,'" she told UPI in May 2024. "But we are not going to lose the innate terror that is so visceral within the original. We are aware of it." The Strangers: Chapter 2 releases in theaters Sept. 26. The film series starring Petsch is a remake of the 2008 movie starring Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman.

Full Trailer Released for THE STRANGERS: CHAPTER 2 Teases a Brutal Fight for Survival — GeekTyrant
Lionsgate has released a full trailer for The Strangers: Chapter 2 , which is the next sequel in the slasher horror trilogy. It looks like it will deliver a brutal and creepy experience for fans of the franchise. There's Halloween II vibes in this trailer. Madelaine Petsch returns to the role of Maya, having survived the terrifying attacks by three masked killers. Well, she once again finds herself having to fight for her survival against the masked maniacs. The first film in this trilogy wasn't really that special as it was just a remake of the original 2008 film. In The Strangers: Chapter 1 , 'After their car breaks down in an eerie small town, a young couple are forced to spend the night in a remote cabin. 'Panic ensues as they are terrorized by three masked strangers who strike with no mercy and seemingly no motive.' In this next film, when the masked killers learn Maya is still alive, they return to finish the job. Unfortunately for Maya, there's nowhere to run and no one to trust, as these killers pursue her, and are more than willing to kill anyone who gets in their way. All of the films are directed by Renny Harlin ( A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master, Deep Blue Sea ). He previously expressed that the whole project was considered one epic journey of terror. He explained: 'We, of course, shot them on top of each other and mixed up, like movies are always made. But we had to keep in mind that this is one story arc. 'It is one 4.5-hour movie, and the first movie is a first act. It sets up the characters and the terror and the killers and our main character, who will survive the first movie, but then go on a journey for the next two.' Lionsgate's plan is to release The Strangers: Chapter 2 on September 26th.

Meta reportedly explored acquisition of AI video startup Runway
Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly held discussions regarding a potential acquisition of the video startup Runway AI, as part of his ongoing efforts to expand in AI. The deal talks, however, did not progress to a formal offer with a specific dollar figure and are no longer active, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Runway, a New York-based company specialising in AI technology that generates realistic-looking videos, was valued at more than $3bn earlier in 2025. Since 2023, Runway has been a pioneer in AI video generation, contributing to the surge in interest in such technologies. Its latest model, Gen-4, enables users to create videos with consistent characters and objects, a challenging feat for many AI services. The company has secured an agreement with movie studio Lionsgate to utilise its tools, which have also been used in productions such as Amazon's 'House of David' and a Madonna concert. Representatives for both Runway and Meta declined to comment, the report said. Zuckerberg has prioritised meeting with leading figures in AI, including CEOs and chief scientists, over recent months. His recruitment drive to build a 'superintelligence' team has included high salary offers and, in some cases, acquisition discussions. Meta recently completed a multibillion-dollar investment in Scale AI, acquiring 49% of the data labelling startup and hiring its CEO. The company also engaged in deal talks with AI search startup Perplexity, which is led by CEO Aravind Srinivas and was valued at $14bn in its latest round. Additionally, Meta has been in discussions with former GitHub CEO Nat Friedman about joining the company, Bloomberg has reported, and held similar talks with Daniel Gross, CEO of Safe Superintelligence. "Meta reportedly explored acquisition of AI video startup Runway" was originally created and published by Verdict, a GlobalData owned brand.
