Is ‘The Hunting Wives' returning for season 2? Everything we know so far
By Aman Shukla Published on July 22, 2025, 18:00 IST Last updated July 22, 2025, 10:56 IST Okay, let's talk about The Hunting Wives —the Netflix thriller that's got everyone buzzing with its mix of juicy drama, murder mysteries, and small-town secrets. If you binged Season 1 (no judgment, we're all guilty), you're probably dying to know: Is there going to be a Season 2? That cliffhanger ending left us with so many questions, and we are here to dig into the latest scoop. So, grab a coffee, and let's unpack everything we know about the future of this addictive show as of July 22, 2025. Has Netflix Greenlit The Hunting Wives Season 2? Here's the tea: as of today, July 22, 2025, Netflix hasn't officially said 'yes' to a second season of The Hunting Wives . But don't lose hope just yet! There are some promising signs. For one, the show's creator, Rebecca Cutter, seems super excited about continuing the story. In interviews, she's hinted that the open-ended finale was no accident—they're ready to dive back in if Netflix gives the go-ahead. The show was originally meant to be a limited series for Starz, but when Lionsgate Television and Starz split, it landed on Netflix. That's a big deal because Netflix's huge audience could give the show the boost it needs for a renewal. Lionsgate reportedly sees The Hunting Wives as a multi-season project, so the pieces are in place—it's just a matter of whether Netflix thinks it's worth another round. What To Expect In The Hunting Wives Season 2? We are keeping this spoiler-free for those who haven't finished Season 1 (go binge it, seriously!), but let's just say the finale leaves a lot unresolved. The murder mystery at the heart of the show is far from solved, and the relationships between characters like Sophie, Margo, and others are a tangled mess. Here's what we might see in a second season: More Murder Mystery : The investigation into Abby's death could take some wild turns. And what about Kaycee Krummell's disappearance? There's so much more to uncover. Drama Between the Wives : Margo's manipulative charm and Sophie's journey into this chaotic world could spark new rivalries and alliances. Plus, Jed Banks' political ambitions might stir up even more trouble. Texas Vibes: The show's mix of red-state politics and social commentary gives it a unique edge. A second season could lean into that, exploring new themes or diving deeper into the East Texas setting. Since Season 1 already adapted most of May Cobb's book, a second season would likely go off-script with original stories. Rebecca Cutter's vision seems to be about keeping the drama fresh and grounded, so expect more twists that feel true to the show's vibe. ‘The Hunting Wives' Moves To Netflix For U.S. Following Lionsgate & Starz Separation; Premiere Date Set
EXCLUSIVE: The upcoming thriller drama The Hunting Wives, previously set at Starz, has a new home. Netflix has picked up the exclusive U.S. rights to the series, starring Malin Åkerman and Brittany Snow, which comes from showrunner Rebecca Cutter (Hightown), Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment. It will debut on the streamer on July 21. The Hunting Wives, an adaptation of May Cobb's best selling novel, was greenlighted by Starz in October 2023 when the network was part of Lionsgate, with Lionsgate Television serving as its in-house studio. The show, also starring Dermot Mulroney and Chrissy Metz, was filmed last year and is now completed and in the can. More from Deadline Why 'Ballerina' Isn't Springing Into The Rafters With A $25M-$27M Opening - Saturday AM Box Office Update Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms & Netflix Unveil Creative Partnership Netflix Shareholders Vote Out Board Member In Rare Repudiation; Streamer Weighs Resignation Offer According to sources, as part of Lionsgate and Starz's separation agreement, which came into effect May 7, Lionsgate Television negotiated the acquisition of The Hunting Wives' rights back from Starz as the studio executives felt that there was a better opportunity for a multi-season run on another platform vs. the limited series envisioned by Starz. The move also made sense for Starz which is moving towards owner economics post-separation with its programming strategy focused on series the network fully controls or co-produces. Starz recently opened writers rooms for several new projects in contention for a series green light, all fully owned. It is unclear whether The Hunting Wives falls under the restructuring charge of $177.4 million Starz recently took 'related to a strategic reassessment of the company's content portfolio.' Netflix's The Hunting Wives exclusive deal is for one year, sources said. Meanwhile, Lionsgate's worldwide television group is in the process of selling the show to international buyers, which had been the plan since the time the series was earmarked for Starz, a largely domestic player. The Hunting Wives tells the story of Sophie (Snow) and her family's move from the East Coast to deep East Texas, where she succumbs to socialite Margo Bank's (Åkerman) irresistible charms – and finds her life consumed by obsession, seduction, and murder. The series is executive produced by writer-showrunner Cutter, Erwin Stoff (The Serpent Queen) for 3 Arts Entertainment and Cobb. Cutter, who is in development on two projects for Netflix with Jerry Bruckheimer Television, is repped by CAA and Jackoway Austen Tyerman. Cobb is repped by WME, Victoria Sanders & Associates, Jackoway Austen Tyerman and Linden Entertainment. Snow is repped by Gersh and Principal Entertainment LA. Åkerman is repped by UTA and Entertainment 360. Metz is repped by CAA, Luber Roklin Entertainment and Hansen Jacobson Teller. Sean Bean Joins "Robin Hood" Series at MGM+
Sean Bean has joined the upcoming 'Robin Hood' series at MGM+. Bean will star alongside previously announced series lead Jack Patten, who will play the titular outlaw folk hero. Bean will star as the notorious Sheriff of Nottingham. The official description of the Sheriff states: 'This vision of the Sheriff of Nottingham is unique: a statesman, a strategist, and a builder of Nottingham itself. A loving father, a politician, and cousin to King Henry II. He navigates the dangerous tides of power, facing not only an outlaw in the woods but also the ambitions of Eleanor of Aquitaine and the Norman Barons that surround him. Cunning and pragmatic, he is a man who rules with an iron hand, not out of cruelty, but an unshakable belief that the law, as Normans see it, must be preserved.' Bean is best known for his roles in films like 'The Lord of the Rings,' 'Troy,' 'Goldeneye,' and 'Ronin.' He also famously starred in the first season of 'Game of Thrones' as Ned Stark and has also been in shows such as 'Accused,' 'Broken,' 'Henry VIII,' and 'Legends.' 'Robin Hood' was originally picked up at MGM+ back in September 2024 for 10 episodes. The logline for the show says, 'Following the Norman invasion of England, Rob – a Saxon forester's son – and Marian, the daughter of a Norman lord – fall in love and work together to fight for justice and freedom. As Rob rises as the leader of a band of rebel outlaws, Marian infiltrates the power at court, as both work together to thwart royal corruption and bring peace to the land.' John Glenn and Jonathan English are writers and executive producers on the series. Glenn also serves as showrunner, while English is also directing. Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures executive produces, with Carly Elter and Nicole Bryant of Hidden Pictures overseeing the project for the company. Lionsgate Television is the studio. In addition to premiering on MGM+ in the U.S., the series will be available to MGM+ viewers in the U.K., Italy, Germany, Spain, Latin America, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg.
