Courteney Cox Recalls the Cast's Pre-Show 'Huddle' on 'Friends' Before Performing for the Live Audience

Courtney Cox, who played Monica Geller in Friends, says the cast used to huddle up and wish each other 'good luck' before heading on stage The tight-knit cast included stars like Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow NBC's Must-See-TV series was filmed in front of a live audienceAlthough the finale of Friends aired more than 20 years ago, Courtney Cox still remembers how she and the cast would prepare to film each episode in front of the live audience. The actress and Homecourt founder, 61, said that while she doesn't usually 'pump herself up' for public appearances and shows, she and her costars used to get together in a huddle to wish each other good luck. "We'd get in a huddle and we would say, 'Alright everybody! Good luck!' And we'd give each other a hug and a high five," Cox recalled at the Inc. 5000, the annual conference and gala celebrating the fastest-growing private companies in America. Friends' iconic ensemble cast included Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and Matthew Perry — the latter who died of acute effects of ketamine on Oct. 28, 2023.. They famously remain close to this day. Cox went on to say that the live audience loved watching the taping of the show so much, and that sometimes producers had to cut the laugh track early so the actors could continue on. Everyone "just knew" what would get big laughs from the audience, Cox said, so the cast would just roll with it. The experience is different than what the Scream 7 star is used to these days, when making other scripted projects. Whether or not they gathered together in a huddle for a hug and high five before the camera started rolling, is left to the imagination. Aniston and Cox have a particularly close relationship. Cox previously told PEOPLE that 'there could be no better godmother' to her daughter Coco than Aniston. Read the original article on People

No Good Deed Done (For Now) at Netflix

No Good Deed won't be burying any more secrets at Netflix — for now, at least. The series has no plans for a Season 2, though there is a theoretical possibility that it could continue down the road as an anthology with a new cast, per our sister site Deadline. TVLine has reached out to Netflix for comment. More from TVLine Pulse Cancelled at Netflix After 1 Season The Residence Cancelled at Netflix The Last of Us Co-Creator to Depart Ahead of Season 3: 'Now Is the Right Time' No Good Deed Season 1, which debuted in December 2024, followed Lydia (played by Lisa Kudrow) and Paul (Ray Romano) as they moved out of their empty nest to restart their life. They sparked a real estate frenzy after listing their Spanish-style villa in one of Los Angeles' most desirable neighborhoods. But the couple got caught up in their own craze as they tried to bury secrets surrounding their son's murder, which took place in the home. (Turned out, they had nothing to hide: As it was revealed in the finale, their daughter didn't mistakenly kill her brother, as they initially thought. He was murdered by their neighbor Margo, played by Linda Cardellini.) In addition to Kudrow, Romano and Cardellini, the series starred Luke Wilson (DC's Stargirl) as JD Campbell, a depressed, out-of-work soap star seeking to downsize; Teyonah Parris (The Marvels) as Carla, a high-achieving and somewhat sardonic architect and expectant mother; Abbi Jacobson (Broad City) as Leslie Fisher, who was thrilled to discover the Los Feliz home she and her wife had admired from afar was finally on the market; and Poppy Liu (Hacks) as Leslie's soulful, grounded and decent wife Sarah. O-T Fagbenle (Presumed Innocent) and Denis Leary (Rescue Me) starred as Dennis and Mikey, respectively. Friends star's nepo-baby son is following in their acting footsteps – but can you guess who his famous parent is?

THIS nepo-baby was born into television royalty, thanks to one of his parents being a cast member of Friends. The rising star in question is now forging his own career as an actor, but can you guess which star of the famous sitcom he's related to? 7 7 7 7 We are of course talking about Lisa Kudrow's son, Julian Murray Stern, 27. The actress, 61, is best known for playing Phoebe Buffay in Friends, alongside Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and the late Matthew Perry. Lisa was actually pregnant with Julian whilst she was filming the show. Her pregnancy was written into the fourth season of Friends in 1998, when Phoebe was carrying her brother's triplets. Lisa previously recalled some fond memories of this time on the set of the famous sitcom. "The six of us would do a huddle backstage and just say, 'All right, have a good show, love you love you love you love you.,'" she told People. "And when I was pregnant, then they would say, 'Have a great show, love you love you — love you, little Julian!' "This was because we knew it was a boy and that was his name. She then added how "sweet" she found this gesture from her famous co-stars. Lisa shares Julian with her French husband Michael Stern, who she wed in 1995. Following in his famous mom's footsteps, Julian is forging a career in acting and has starred in the TV series, That's Hollywood, Baby, and the short film. Big City Boy. He has also got a number credits for editing. Lisa would often bring Julian to work with her when she filmed Friends, so he grew up on the set. 7 7 However, her son hasn't always a fan of his mother's work. During an interview on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Lisa revealed how her Julian only recently watched the first few episode of Friends, and was surprised at how 'impressive' it was. 'He called me up and said, 'So I just watched the first two episodes. It's really good, Mom,' " she revealed. "I said, 'Thanks.' He said, 'Can I ask you some questions about that?' I'm like, 'Yes!' I almost started crying. I didn't think that anyone in my family liked that show." She continued, "He was 5 when we were finished … but he did start watching when his friends at school started watching. "[But when] he watched it and he was impressed." Lisa is incredibly proud of her son, and told OK! magazine in 2020: "He's unbelievably lucked out." She added: "I try to advise him about girls, then I realise I probably don't know what I'm talking about."

The Emmys have one last chance to make things right with ‘The Comeback'

If at first you don't succeed (at the Emmys), try, try again. HBO has renewed The Comeback, from Emmy winners Lisa Kudrow (Friends) and Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City), for a third and — the network swears — final season, the network announced Friday. It has been 20 years since the first season debuted in 2005, and 11 years since Season 2 aired in 2014. More from Gold Derby Marge lives! Here are 3 other 'Simpsons' characters that returned from the grave - and 3 who stayed dead Fast cars vs. killer dolls: 'F1,' 'M3GAN 2.0' gear up for box-office showdown Season 3 of the comedy series will begin production this summer with returning cast members Kudrow as Valerie Cherish, a washed-up actress who's now the subject of a documentary; Dan Bucatinsky as Billy Stanton, Valerie's publicist; Laura Silverman as Jane Benson, Valerie's producer; and Damian Young as Mark Berman, Valerie's husband. The new season will air on HBO and stream on HBO Max in 2026. The Comeback is one of those that shows that TV fans often cite as being "robbed" at the Emmy Awards. Meaning it never took home a trophy in any category, and only received four total nominations. Season 1 scored three bids — for Kudrow in Best Comedy Actress, King in Best Comedy Directing, and Best Comedy Casting — while Season 2 nabbed a single Best Comedy Actress citation. It was snubbed both times in the Best Comedy Series lineup. But other awards bodies were just as guilty when it came to ignoring The Comeback. The Golden Globes blanked the show completely, and the Critics Choice Awards (which were created in between the first and second seasons), only gave Kudrow a nomination. The Comeback's only victories came from the lesser-known kudos like the Gracies, the GALECA Awards, and the International Online Cinema Awards. Our Gold Derby TV Awards were somewhat kinder, honoring The Comeback with six overall nominations, including a Best Comedy Series bid for Season 2; however, the show was shut out. Sometimes it takes awards voters a season or two to catch on to audience favorites. Remember when the Emmys didn't truly discover Will & Grace, Fleabag, or Succession until their second seasons? And then there's Schitt's Creek, which wasn't fully embraced by the Television Academy until its sixth and final season. Of course, historically lauded shows like Better Call Saul, The Good Place, and The Wire never won Emmys at all, despite the love from critics and fans. So, The Comeback would be in good company if its final episodes fail to materialize into award wins. Neither King nor Kudrow is shocked that The Comeback is returning for a third time. "Valerie Cherish has found her way back to the current television landscape," they said jointly. "Neither of us are surprised she did." "No matter what the industry throws at her, Valerie Cherish is a survivor," said Amy Gravitt, executive vice president of HBO's comedy programming. "On the 20th anniversary of her debut, Michael Patrick King and Lisa Kudrow have brilliantly scripted her return to HBO and we can't wait to see that." Lisa Kudrow Reveals Her Most 'Disappointing' Film Role

Lisa Kudrow recently sat for a discussion with Parker Posey as part of Variety's Actors on Actors series, in which the former Friends star reflected on her most 'disappointing' film role, opposite John Travolta. Kudrow and Posey, who starred together in the 1997 dramedy Clockwatchers, are up for awards consideration this year for their roles in Netflix's No Good Deed and HBO's The White Lotus, respectively. Both also worked with the late writer and director Nora Ephron, though Kudrow's experience with the auteur wasn't as memorable as Posey's.'We were both Nora Ephron ladies back in the '90s,' Posey began. 'What did you do with Nora?' 'I did Hanging Up, which she wrote with [her sister] Delia. Diane Keaton directed it. We had great food every day because Nora was around,' Kudrow reflected, before adding: 'And then I did another movie that Nora directed, and John Travolta was in it—'Was in it?' How's that? It was a John Travolta movie, and I was in it.' 'And he was an angel or something, right?' Posey returned. 'No, that was Michael,' Kudrow corrected her, 'and that was a great movie. This one was disappointing,' she added Kudrow didn't name the movie in the interview, she's referring to Ephron's critically maligned 2000 dark comedy, Lucky Numbers. The film starred Travolta as a local meteorologist and snowmobile salesman who concocts a heist with Kudrow's lottery-number reader to steal the pot. Best known for her romantic comedies like Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail, Lucky Numbers saw Ephron attempt an Elmore Leonard-style, post-Tarantino caper to decidedly mixed results. Though Kudrow's work with Ephron was perhaps not that memorable, both she and Posey warmly recalled receiving unsolicited career advice from their mentor long after they worked with her. 'I remember Nora called me once, I was working on Friends,' Kudrow said, 'and she went, 'When are you finished with this show? Why do you keep doing it?' I was like, 'Well, some good reasons.''Lisa Kudrow Reveals Her Most 'Disappointing' Film Role first appeared on Men's Journal on Jun 9, 2025
