Fed up with useless locks that failed to prevent several of his bicycles from being stolen, Professor Neil Barron, 59, a former Rolls-Royce aerospace engineer, set about creating a tougher alternative. The resulting Litelok range, incorporating the company's patented technology, is designed to withstand even attacks by thieves using angle grinders. The business, which began life in Swansea in 2013 with seed investing by Barron's long-time friend and business partner Will Riley, 59, racked up sales of £5.2 million last year.
