Sam Fender beats Taylor Swift to best-selling vinyl record of the year so far
The 31-year-old's third album, which was released in February this year, has sold 53,000 copies this year according to the Official Charts Company, beating Swift's Lover (Live From Paris) (2023), which sold 46,800 vinyl copies in just one week in 2025 after a January reissue. Fender saw the biggest opening release of his career with the album, which was also named the fastest-selling vinyl album of the century by a British artist when it sold 43,000 copies in its first seven days on sale. Lover (Live from Paris) became Swift's 13th UK number one album back in February, overtaking Madonna to become the female artist with the most UK number one albums. The rest of the top 10 was made up of Sabrina Carpenter's Short 'N' Sweet (three), Lady Gaga's Mayhem (four), Pulp's More (five), Romance by Fontaines DC (six), Chappell Roan's The Rise And Fall Of A Midwest Princess (seven), Fleetwood Mac's Rumours (eight), Sleep Token's Even In Arcadia (nine), and Oasis's (What's The Story) Morning Glory? (10). Following Oasis's return to the stage in Cardiff last week, their 1994 song Whatever has been named as the best selling single of 2025, after it saw a 30th anniversary reissue in February this year on pink and blue splatter vinyl. After the re-release the song reached number one on the Official Vinyl Singles Chart for three weeks in March, and back into the Top 40 of the UK singles chart for the first time in nearly three decades. The rest of the top five is made up of Taylor Swift and Post Malone's Fortnight (two), Oasis's Some Might Say (three), Guess by Charli XCX featuring Billie Eilish (four), and Sabrina Carpenter's Manchild (five). The top 10 was rounded off by Chappell Roan's Pink Pony Club (six), Alok and Kylie Minogue's Last Night I Dreamt I Fell In Love (seven), Lola Young's Messy (eight), Fontaines DC's It's Amazing To Be Young (nine), and The Killers and Bruce Springsteen's Encore At The Garden (10).

Taylor Swift breaks the UK chart record
Taylor Swift has set a new milestone in UK music history, surpassing Madonna to become the female artist with the most No 1 albums in the country, The Guardian reported. Her latest release, Lover (Live From Paris), has topped the UK charts, marking her 13th No 1 album and tying her with Elvis Presley as the international artist with the most chart-toppers. The live album, which features performances from her 2019 studio album Lover, originally had a limited release on Valentine's Day in 2023. It initially peaked at No 90, but a new heart-shaped double vinyl edition propelled it to the top, selling 47,000 copies - the biggest first-week sales of any album this year. Notably, Lover (Live From Paris) achieved this feat with minimal streaming, a rarity in today's digital landscape. The last album to reach No 1 in the UK without major streaming numbers was another Swift record - 2017's Reputation, which initially debuted on sales alone before later arriving on streaming services. Swift's UK chart dominance has grown significantly since her first No 1 album, Red, in 2012. Her ongoing project of re-recording her past albums has contributed to her tally, with new versions of Fearless, Red, Speak Now, and 1989 all claiming the top spot. Fans are now eagerly awaiting her re-recording of Reputation, though Swift may be taking a well-earned break after wrapping up her historic Eras tour - the highest-grossing concert tour of all time. Elsewhere in the UK charts, Irish rock band Inhaler, led by Bono's son Elijah Hewson, debuted at No 2 with their third album Open Wide. Meanwhile, Kendrick Lamar surged back into the Top 3 following the physical release of GNX and his widely discussed Super Bowl halftime show. Lamar's diss track Not Like Us also climbed to No 2 on the singles chart, though Lola Young's Messy held onto the top spot for a fourth consecutive week.

Taylor Swift breaks Official Charts record as female artist with the most number one albums in UK
Taylor Swift has made charts history, becoming the female artist with the most albums to have reached number one in the UK. Lover (Live From Paris) netted Swift her 13th number one album on the UK's Official Charts on Friday. She has now surpassed pop icon Madonna, whose number one album record stood at 12, Official Charts said. The pop megastar is now tied with Elvis Presley as the international artist with the most number one albums in UK chart history. Only The Beatles and Robbie Williams have more, at 15. After originally being released in limited quantity in 2023, Lover (Live from Paris) topped the charts thanks to a new, heart-shaped 2LP vinyl variant released in time for Valentine's Day. The album also becomes the first to reach number one on pure sales (so no streams included in the total) in eight years, since Swift's very own reputation in 2017. A 14-time Grammy Award-winning singer, Swift didn't win any awards at this year's ceremony - where she happily presented Beyonce with the coveted album of the year prize. 0:31 The Shake It Off singer finished her record-breaking Eras Tour in December. The tour made billions and was made up of 149 shows, each running for around three hours and with a set list of more than 40 songs. Lover (Live From Paris) joins Swift's list of UK chart-toppers: Red (2012) 1989 (2014) reputation (2017) Lover (2019) folklore (2020) evermore (2020) Fearless (Taylor's Version) (2021) Red (Taylor's Version) (2021) Midnights (2022) Speak Now (Taylor's Version) (2023) 1989 (Taylor's Version) (2023)
