Marc Guehi to Liverpool takes next step as Crystal Palace reach total agreement
Crystal Palace are poised to lose Marc Guehi to Liverpool this summer but have acted fast to find a replacement with a deal struck for Sporting Lisbon's Ousmane Diomande Crystal Palace have reached an agreement to land Ousmane Diomande from Sporting Lisbon with the defender acting as a replacement for the Liverpool-bound Marc Guehi. The Eagles look set to lose their talisman in defence but have acted by raiding the Portuguese champions. They have been keen to retain Viktor Gyokeres this summer and have dug their heels in, but the exit of Diomande has proved easier to negotiate. Sporting did have a release clause in Diomande's contract, which could've seen them demand €80million (£68m), but A Bola reports they were willing to accept less and the FA Cup winners look to have landed the Ivorian for €55m (£47m). One issue they are still to settle on is a future sale percentage. Palace stand to make a huge profit on Guehi, who they refused to sell to Newcastle last summer, but with his contract winding down they have shown a willingness to cash in and the Reds have acted to bring in the England international. The London outfit hope that the capture of Diomande will serve them well on their European journey. Palace are still waiting for a final call from UEFA, which centres around Lyon and what competition they will play in after the two clubs had shared the same owner until John Textor sold his stake last week. Liverpool's capture of Guehi would take their spend close to the £250m mark after they also signed Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez. Arne Slot is looking to bolster his options at the heart of defence, which could soon be depleted. Virgil van Dijk, the team's linchpin, opted to sign a new deal and remain at Anfield but young hope Jarell Quansah is poised to join Bayer Leverkusen. Ibrahima Konate, meanwhile, has just one year left on his Reds deal and is giving off vibes that he may look for a move elsewhere as PSG and Real Madrid circle. The latest reports suggest he is unhappy with what has so far been offered to him, and right now it seems more likely than not that the two parties will go their separate ways next summer. Guehi can now say he is an FA Cup winning captain and regular starter for England, which ticks the homegrown box. He will be 25 in two weeks' time, entering the prime of his career, and is ready for the next challenge in his career with Anfield poised to be his next home. Four Irish nationals arrested on Costa Blanca after cops smash cocaine gang
Nearly 85 kilos of cocaine was seized in the operation, camouflaged inside a drilling machine Nearly 85 kilos of cocaine was camouflaged inside a drilling machine due to be shipped to Ireland by a firm in the small town of Monovar about a 35-minute drive inland from Alicante FOUR Irish nationals have been arrested on the Costa Blanca after police there smashed a gang smuggling cocaine and hashish hidden in industrial machinery into the UK and Ireland from Spain. Nearly 85 kilos of cocaine was seized in the operation, camouflaged inside a drilling machine due to be shipped to Ireland by a firm in the small town of Monovar about a 35-minute drive inland from Alicante. Police sources say another 340 kilos of cannabis resin linked to the gang and sent via a company in the south-eastern Spanish province of Murcia was discovered at French customs. Respected local paper Informacion said two guns were also seized. The arrests took place in Orihuela Costa and San Miguel de Salinas on the Costa Blanca. The four suspects, who have not been named, were freed on bail pending an ongoing criminal probe after appearing in court. The Civil Guard, the police force which led the investigation resulting in the arrests, has yet to make any official comment. Officers are not expected to make any formal comment until they rule the operation against the gang has concluded. Further arrests have not been ruled out. Local reports said the start point for the investigation was on June 2 when a transport firm based in the province of Murcia reported the arrest of one of its drivers in France a few days earlier following the discovery of the cannabis resin on board his Liverpool-bound lorry. A Murcia court reportedly authorised detectives to put trackers on the company's vehicles. The arrests were made after one of the suspects dropped off the industrial drilling machine due to be shipped to Dublin and police discovered the cocaine inside. Spanish investigators are said to have removed the cocaine and allowed the drilling machine to be sent to Ireland on June 13 so counterparts so Gardaí could try to identify the people receiving the delivery. It was not immediately clear this morning if further arrests had taken place in Ireland. In March a Spanish-Irish investigation into the Dublin gang known as The Family resulted in the seizure of drugs valued at around EUROS 30 million and the arrests of 20 people. Spanish cops said at the time the criminals hid the drugs in secret compartments in vehicles they fitted out with the narcotics at a warehouse on an industrial estate in the east coast Spanish city of Castellon between Barcelona and Valencia. More than 300 kilos of cocaine and 220 kilos of marihuana were seized in the operation according to Spanish police. Thirteen of the 20 detentions took place in Spain according to police there and the other seven in Ireland. The suspects, aged between 30 and 50, were described as Spanish, Colombian, Irish and British.

Eberl responds to Kimmich's transfer plea: "I'm handling things off the pitch!"
Eberl responds to Kimmich's transfer plea: "I'm handling things off the pitch!" Having missed out on the signing of Liverpool-bound Florian Wirtz, and with Leroy Sané and Thomas Müller leaving Bayern Munich on free transfers, the club is now seeking offensive reinforcements. Ahead of the Club World Cup opener, midfield maestro Joshua Kimmich called on Bayern to strengthen their attack, saying: Advertisement 'There's a feeling that we might do something because Flo isn't coming, Leroy is gone, and Thomas is gone.' In response to Kimmich's remarks following Bayern's emphatic 10-0 victory over Auckland City, board member for sport Max Eberl made it clear that the club's management - and not Kimmich - is responsible for transfer decisions. ''Jo' is on the pitch - and I'm handling things off the pitch,' Eberl emphasized. So far, Bayern have secured two signings ahead of the 2025/26 season: central defender Jonathan Tah (from Bayer Leverkusen) and central midfielder Tom Bischof (from Hoffenheim).
