State govt declares Singraur Uparhar as model solar village
1 2 Prayagraj: Singraur Uparhar, a village located on the banks of Ganga and home to the revered Shringverpur Dham, has been officially declared a 'model solar village' by the Uttar Pradesh govt. This initiative marks a significant step toward environmental sustainability and honours the village's mythological significance, as it is believed that Lord Ram, along with Sita and Lakshman, stayed here during their exile. Originally, Meja village was under consideration for this title, but a recent govt directive shifted the focus to Singraur village in the Soraon tehsil. Nearly Rs 140 crore was already invested in transforming Shringverpur into a prominent tourist destination, including the development of the Nishadraj Park and several other major projects. The selection aligns with the state's broader vision of promoting green energy and sustainable development in culturally significant locations. With its new designation, Singraur Uparhar is set to receive further infrastructural upgrades. Under this initiative, solar panels will be installed on every building in the village, ensuring no structure is left behind.
