Justin Timberlake receives backlash for asking audience to sing too much at concert: 'Took a day off on stage'

This is going to ruin the tour. Justin Timberlake went viral for the wrong reasons after fans were disappointed in his performance during the recent Electric Castle music festival in Romania. A video of the Trolls actor singing 'Don't Stop the Feeling!' blew up on TikTok, garnering over 1.5 million views. Many viewers criticized the artist for relying too heavily on the audience to carry the song. "Dude took a day off on stage," one person who reposted the video said. Performing in the rain, Timberlake is shown putting up his jacket hood and saying the first line of the song. He then points to the audience to continue the song, directing them to continue for most of the minute-long video. The former boybander is also seen moving his hands and feet to the music. Timberlake headlined the Transylvanian music festival last week, which marked his first-ever performance in Romania. One fan posted a scathing review of the set that gained 5.6 million views. She called the show 'an absolute disappointment' and complained that he was concealing his face. 'You come to my country, I pay a lot of money, it's raining like s---,' the fan said in her video. 'I've been waiting for you all day to come up on stage. You were late, first of all. Yeah, and then you sing like five words on each song.' Representatives for Timberlake did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Entertainment felt it was disrespectful to paying audience members for Timberlake to shift the bulk of the performance onto fans. Some shared that they had their own negative experiences at some of Timberlake's recent shows across Europe. 'I just wanna add that we saw him in Estonia and it was a disappointment for us, too,' one person wrote. Another TikTok user shared a clip of his performance from Lollapalooza Paris and called him 'Justin 'I didn't know I was supposed to sing at a concert' Timberlake.' The video received 1.9 million views and shows the artist similarly asking the crowd to sing "Cry Me a River." Timberlake is finishing the final week of his world tour, which began last year in support of his most recent album Everything I Thought I Was. He will conclude the tour in Istanbul, Turkey on July 30. Read the original article on Entertainment Weekly

At Lollapalooza Paris, Olivia Rodrigo and Benson Boone rock the stage

Founded in 1991 in Chicago, Illinois, by former Jane's Addiction singer Perry Farrell, the Lollapalooza festival initially served as a platform for the anguished distortions of rock of that era. It later became a touring festival and then an international event, with a Paris edition launched in 2017, now run by production giant Live Nation. Lollapalooza has since catered to audiences raised on urban pop infused with rap, electro and R'n'B. After skipping its 2024 edition due to the Olympic Games, Lollapalooza Paris returned to the Hippodrome de Longchamp on July 18, immediately signaling the resurgence of electric guitars in today's hits. This was especially true for Lola Young, 24, Olivia Rodrigo, 22, and the phenomenon Benson Boone, 23. Still synonymous with the attitude and lifestyle of the early 1990s, this rock aesthetic is now a dominant tone in the pop palette of these young talents, adding extra intensity to their choruses and live performances. Hailing from Croydon, a small suburb south of London, Young can flirt with punk ("Wish You Were Dead") or post-punk ("Good Books"), while not forgetting that she also grew up to the rhythms of synthetic grooves ("Conceited"), rap and dub ("Big Brown Eyes").
