Radical outfit leader held for murder of differently-abled man in Manipur
In Manipur, police have arrested Longjam Khaba Singh, a leader of Arambai Tenggol. He is accused of murdering Md Chesam Abdul Kadir. Abdul Kadir, a differently-abled man, went missing earlier this month. His body was found buried in Imphal West district. Ten people are now in custody related to the case. Remove Ads Guwahati: Manipur Police arrested a leader of Meitei radical outfit Arambai Tenggol for his alleged involvement in the murder of a differently-abled person in Imphal West district earlier this month.A senior official said that the police arrested the main accused Longjam Khaba Singh (35), alias Boi, for his reported involvement in the murder of Md Chesam Abdul Kadir from Mongsangei Makha Leikai Arubam Leikai in Imphal West far 10 persons, including Khaba Singh, have been arrested in connection with the Kadir, who belongs to the Meitei Pangal (Muslim) community, went missing on the midnight of June 11 and his body was later found buried at Samurou Naorem in Imphal West district triggering widespread police exhumed the body on June 17 in the presence of an executive magistrate, forensic team and family members. Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla last assured appropriate legal action against the murder of 29-year-old physically challenged Abdul Manipur Meitei Pangal Welfare Organisation (MMWO) has strongly condemned the alleged kidnapping and murder of Abdul Secretary General Firoz Khan urged the government to arrange for stringent punishment for those involved in the incident. Various other organisations termed the act a 'heartless crime' and linked it to a disturbing pattern of violence, including killings, abductions, and extortion, reported in Manipur's valley region over the past two years.

Manipur's Arambai Tenggol leader arrested for murder of differently abled man
A leader of Meitei outfit Arambai Tenggol (AT) was arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of a differently abled person in Manipur's Imphal West district, police said on Monday (June 23, 2025). Police, in a statement, said that the arrested AT leader, identified as Longjam Khaba Singh (35), a resident of Yumnam Huidrom Thiyam Leishangkhong, was the main accused in the murder of Md Chesam Abdul Kadir of Paobitek Mayai Leikai. He was arrested from Mongsangei Makha Leikai Arubam Leikai near Puthiba Laibung Complex on Sunday, it said. To date, 10 people, including seven AT members, have been arrested in connection with the murder, the statement said. Chesam went missing on the midnight of June 11 and his body was later found buried at Samurou Naorem in Imphal West district. The body was exhumed on June 17 in the presence of an executive magistrate, forensic team and family members. A criminal case was registered and a thorough investigation was being conducted, police had said. The killing sparked protests and condemnations by multiple Muslim bodies in Imphal Valley.
