Kuwait strategic ally of Italy
PARIS, June 28: Kuwait's Ambassador to Italy Nasser Al-Qahtani spoke with the President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, at the Chamber's headquarters in Rome recently. A statement by the Kuwaiti Embassy in Rome said that both sides discussed bilateral relations during the meeting and ways of strengthening them in an array of fields. The President of the Chamber of Deputies expressed his gratitude for the historic relations his country has with Kuwait to say that Kuwait is considered an 'important strategic ally of Italy,' given the strong political, diplomatic, economic, defense, and cultural relations that unite the two sides. Fontana also praised Kuwait's ambitious economic vision, which aims to diversify sources of income and implement major development projects, as he emphasized that this vision opens up broad horizons for Italian companies to contribute to implementing these projects and enhance economic cooperation between the two countries.(KUNA)

Arab Parliament calls on Italy to recognise Palestinian state
Al Yamahi expressed hope that the Italian government would adopt policies and measures to exert pressure on Israel to halt its acts of genocide and starvation against the Palestinian people. His remarks came during a meeting with Lorenzo Fontana, President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, on the sidelines of the Arab Parliament's participation in the 2nd Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, organised by the Inter-Parliamentary Union in cooperation with the Italian Parliament. During the meeting, the President of the Arab Parliament discussed the escalating situation in the Middle East, stressing that the region is witnessing unprecedented tensions in light of the ongoing war between Iran and Israel. He emphasised that the region cannot withstand further escalation and that diplomatic solutions remain the only path to achieving lasting peace and stability.

Saudi, Italian officials discuss parliamentary ties
RIYADH: The speaker of Saudi Arabia's Shoura Council, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Asheikh, met with Saudi-Italian Parliamentary Friendship Committee Chairman Marco Osnato and other Italian MPs during the second Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue in Rome, Italy, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Saturday. Osnato welcomed Al-Asheikh and highlighted the strong cooperation and excellent relations between Saudi Arabia and Italy at various levels, as well as praising the Kingdom's 'constructive role in promoting international peace and stability while avoiding conflicts,' the SPA reported. The Shoura Council speaker 'hailed the fraternal ties and emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations to serve the shared interests of both countries and their peoples.' During the meeting, the two officials reviewed existing bilateral relations and 'explored ways to enhance and advance them across various sectors.' At the three-day conference, the president of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, emphasized the vital role of parliaments and the conference's significance in building bridges and promoting mutual understanding. Parliamentarians engaged in panel discussions focused on 'fostering mutual understanding, combating hate speech, and promoting a shared future among people worldwide,' the SPA stated.

‘Ghost' kicked out of Italian parliament (VIDEO)
An Italian opposition MP was dragged out of a parliamentary session on Wednesday for dressing up as a ghost and condemning what he said are attempts to stifle democratic participation. In a video shared online, Riccardo Magi, a member of the +Europa party, could be seen wearing a white sheet with cut-out eyeholes and the word 'Referendum' written on the fabric. During the session, he shouted from his seat to protest what his party claims are government efforts to discourage voter turnout for several national referendums scheduled for next month. The votes are set to cover issues such as Italy's citizenship requirements for foreigners and repeal certain labor reform provisions. Magi's demonstration was cut short after Lorenzo Fontana, the speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, ordered the MP to be escorted out of the session. Parliamentary ushers, together with five security personnel, could then be seen dragging Magi out of the chamber.
