Loris Karius lifts lid on relationship with Diletta Leotta after she revealed moment he locked himself in her room
LORIS KARIUS has spilled the beans on his glam romance with TV stunner Diletta Leotta. The ex-Liverpool goalkeeper explained the difficulties of living miles apart from his wife and how he's able to make up for his absence. 11 11 Karius, best remembered for that Champions League final meltdown against Real Madrid, has swapped Anfield heartache for happily-ever-after with Italian stunner Diletta, 33, who fronts the footie on DAZN. The pair first met in 2022, welcomed baby Aria in 2023 and tied the knot in a plush 2024 bash straight out of a fairy tale. But it's not all roses and romance, they're juggling marriage and parenthood from different countries. Karius now plays for German Bundesliga two side Schalke after leaving Newcastle while Diletta's continues her DAZN gig in Milan. But according to the goalkeeper his wife loves it and creates an atmoshphere where its right for them to feel the love even from a distance. He told Sport Bild: 'Diletta even advised me to extend at Schalke. "She thinks the club is great and she likes everything she has seen here so far. "Diletta also thinks that royal blue is the perfect choice for my sporting success. She is fully behind this decision." Karius however admits it's tough not seeing little Aria every day but FaceTime is saving the day. He added: 'But of course it's hard for me when I can't see my little daughter Aria for days. The 32-year-old goalkeeper also admitted he's open to a second child even though he's not planned anything yet. The goalie also revealed that his missus is the real celeb in the family – especially in Milan. He added: 'She gets recognised more than me. She's a superstar over there.' But Karius wasn't quite ready for the full Italian family welcome. On meeting Diletta's clan in noisy Sicily, he fled the lunch table and locked himself in the bedroom for a lie-down. His wife Dilette revealed on a podcast: 'He was shattered by life, bless him. 'He said, Please stop, I need a break. "He went upstairs to his room locked himself in and threw himself on the bed destroyed by life." Since his Liverpool nightmare, Karius has done the rounds – Besiktas, Union Berlin, Newcastle and now Schalke in Germany's second tier, where he just signed a deal until 2027. 11 11 11 11 11

Loris Karius has bared all on his relationship with his famous wife, including her thoughts on the pair living in different countries. The former Liverpool goalkeeper, 32, began dating presenter Diletta Leotta, 33, who has become known for her work with sports broadcaster DAZN, in 2022. Just a year later and the lovebirds were welcoming their daughter, baby Aria, before tying the knot in a lavish ceremony in 2024. It hasn't been all plain-sailing for Karius and Leotta though, with the newly-weds living in totally different cities as he plies his trade at Schalke, situated in the German district of Gelsenkirchen, while his wife fulfils her presenting duties in Milan. And after Karius signed a contract extension keeping him at Schalke until 2027 earlier this summer, their long-distance marriage won't be coming to an end anytime soon. In a new interview this week, the German goalkeeper revealed Leotta's honest thoughts about living life away from him, and the superstar couple's plans for the future. He told Sport Bild: 'Diletta even advised me to extend at Schalke. She thinks the club is great and she likes everything she has seen here so far. 'Diletta also thinks that royal blue is the perfect choice for my sporting success. She is fully behind this decision! 'But of course it's hard for me when I can't see my little daughter Aria for days. But that's what FaceTime is for, and we see each other regularly - as often as possible.' Karius also opened up about the possibility of him and his Italian wife welcoming a second child in the near future. 'We would love to have a second child,' he added. 'We don't know when yet. Nothing concrete is planned so far. 'Love doesn't go that far! In Italy, it is also more common for everyone to keep their last name after the wedding.' Karius says that Leotta is actually more famous than he is, and when they're out on the streets of Milan, she sometimes gets noticed more than him. 'She is already recognised a lot,' he joked, 'sometimes more!' The new interview comes after Leotta revealed last month that Karius was so overwhelmed meeting her family for the first time that he locked himself in his room and dived onto the bed to process his emotions. Being introduced to her family in Catania, Sicily, came as a culture shock to the footballer, who struggled to come to terms with how noisy the area was. 'It was fun to bring Loris to my house in Catania for the first time,' Leotta told the Storie oltre le Stories podcast via Gazzetta dello Sport. 'At a certain point during lunch - he doesn't speak Italian, by the way - he heard all this noise. 'He wasn't used to this disaster, he said to me: "Please stop, I need a break!" 'He went upstairs to his room, locked himself in and threw himself on the bed destroyed by life. After a difficult period at Liverpool which saw him make a couple of crucial errors against Real Madrid in a Champions League final, Karius has got onto play for Besiktas, Union Berlin, Newcastle and now Schalke in the second tier of German football. They narrowly avoided the drop last season however, finishing in 14th place.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius' stunning TV presenter wife reveals intimate photos as she flies in to watch him play after three-and-a-half months out injured
The wife of former Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius was spotted watching her husband play for his current side on Saturday. Karius, 32, is married to Italian TV presenter Diletta Leotta, 33, who has become familiar to viewers through her work for broadcaster DAZN. She was in attendance for Karius' first appearance for over three months following a lengthy injury lay-off as his Schalke side drew 0-0 with Dutch team FC Twente. Leotta was seen watching from the stands with the couple's two-year-old daughter, Aria, in tow. She also posted a photo of her in an orange bikini while in Germany. The Italian could be seen giving Karius a brief kiss after the half-time whistle blew during the friendly match. She spoke to German publication BILD after the encounter, in which she expressed pride at her husband being able to return from a calf injury so quickly. Leotta said: 'I'm so proud that Loris made his comeback so quickly!' 'It's always nice when the family is there to watch. Of course, they can't be there all the time – unfortunately! But the more often, the better for me. 'It's obvious, everyone likes to have their family close by.' 'This time I'll only be here in Gelsenkirchen for a short three days. But I'll definitely be there longer around [Schalke's] first home game against Hertha [Berlin]!' Her comments come after Karius revealed last month that he was so overwhelmed meeting his wife's family for the first time that he locked himself in his room and dived onto the bed to process his emotions. Karius and Leotta tied the knot last year in a lavish ceremony at a five-star hotel resort and devoured a cake almost as tall as them. However, meeting Leotta's family from Catania, Sicily, was apparently a culture shock which left Karius 'destroyed' and yearning for respite because of the exuberance and noise. 'It was fun to bring Loris to my house in Catania for the first time,' Leotta told the Storie oltre le Stories podcast via Gazzetta dello Sport.
