Tata Chemicals Q1 Results: PAT jumps 80% to Rs 316 crore

Tata Chemicals on Friday reported an 80.57 per cent increase in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 316 crore for the quarter ended June 30. ADVERTISEMENT The company's PAT was Rs 175 crore during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, Tata Chemicals said in a regulatory filing. Its revenue from operations declined nearly 2 per cent during the quarter under review to Rs 3,719 crore, mainly due to the cessation of Lostock operations in the UK. On March 31, 2025, one of its step-down subsidiaries ceased Soda Ash production at the Lostock plant in Northwich due to sustained financial underperformance."Market conditions remain fluid with overall global demand estimated to be flat in the near term, due to the uncertainty associated with trade tariffs. Demand conditions are stable in India and China. In other regions, Asia (excluding China and India) and the Americas (excluding the USA) demand is robust," Tata Chemicals Managing Director and CEO R Mukundan said. As demand-supply remains balanced, tariff uncertainties will continue to weigh on the market; however, the medium and long-term outlook remains positive, driven by sustainability trends, he added. ADVERTISEMENT The company's overall performance is resilient, driven by strong operating performance and disciplined cost management despite lower realisations, mainly due to pricing pressure in all geographies, he stated."Our focus to expand the core and broaden the speciality portfolio, while being calibrated, will help us in revenue maximisation, realisation of new capacities and delivering on sustainable outcomes," he added. Shares of the company on Friday closed at Rs 942 apiece, down 0.49 per cent on BSE. (You can now subscribe to our ETMarkets WhatsApp channel)

Student turns heads by riding a cow into her prom

While most school leavers roll up to prom in stretch limos, one Westhoughton High School student turned heads by arriving on something far more unexpected- a cow from her family's herd. Chloe Fitton, 18, celebrated her school leavers do at Bolton Wanderers' Toughsheet Community Stadium in style when she rode to the venue on one of her family's Heffers named Oasis. The cow has been reared by the family from their farm in Lostock. 18-year-old Chloe Fitton rode her family's cow, Oasis, into her prom at Toughsheet Stadium. (Image: Leah Collins) Speaking to The Bolton News, Chloe's mother, Louise Fitton, said: 'Our family has reared Oasis from being young. Chloe knew that she wanted to make an entrance for her prom this year. READ MORE: 'Her older brother went to prom on a tractor, so she knew it had to be something grand! Chloe's family helped to orchestrate the grand entrance. (Image: Leah Collins) 'We tried to tell her to do the tractor, or that she could ride her pony to the venue, but she had her heart set on Oasis. "We went and scoped out a short route from the Tesco car park to the Toughsheet Community Stadium. 'Growing up on the farm, Chloe has been riding cows all her life, so she knows what she's doing. She's been practicing because she wanted to make a stylish entrance.' Chloe's classmates cheered as she arrived to the venue. (Image: Leah Collins) Chloe said: 'I've been practicing, we've grown up and reared Oasis from a calf, so I feel comfortable doing this. "I only told a handful of people, my close friends all know but that's about it. 'If I do end up coming off, at least I'll come off it in style!' Now that she's finished high school, Chloe will be going to Reaseheath College in September to study agriculture and will then join the family business.
