OLG winners map: Etobicoke's $65-million lottery winner not June's only new millionaire in Ontario
Mohit Sharma, a lover of luxury trains, no longer has to worry about costs when he's booking his world travels. That's because the Etobicoke man won a massive lottery prize, which he said will allow him to go on a global adventure. He won a Lotto Max lottery prize of $65 million from the Oct. 15 draw. He picked up his winnings from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. in May, which the OLG announced publicly in June. While he was by far Ontario's biggest lottery winner last month, he was not the only person to become a millionaire through the OLG in June, not to mention the many other winners of five- and six-figure prizes. Using OLG data, we've mapped where in the province June's big prize winners (minimum of $50,000) on games such as Lotto Max, Lotto 6-49 and others are from, and in which cities tickets were purchased. This map shows lottery prizes claimed or announced in June, not when the draws took place. Players have up to a year on many OLG games to claim their prize. To make it easier to use the map, it helps to zoom in on the location of interest. More information on Ontario's lottery games is available on the OLG's website . Error! These 2 people in Quebec are sharing a $70M Lotto Max jackpot
Two people in Quebec have won the $70 million Lotto Max jackpot. Jacques Deschamps, a Montérégie, resident, and Wilhelmina Van Leeuwen from Montreal will be splitting the cheque and taking home $35 million each. A press release from Loto-Quebec says Deschamps had the morning of a lifetime on Saturday when he woke up early and checked the results form the July 11 draw while having his coffee. The release says he first thought he won $3,500, then $35,000. He then asked his wife to check the ticket. 'You won $35 million,' she told her husband in shock. The release says Deschamps hurried to send a picture of the ticket to his son, who was still sleeping. Story continues below advertisement The couple grew impatient and called their son's home, asking their daughter-in-law to wake him up so they could share the stunning news. Deschamps is in his 60s and owns his own construction company, which he says he will now get his son to run now that he can retire. He bought his ticket at the Chanteclerc convenience store at 290 Jacques-Cartier St. in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. The retailer will receive a one per cent commission of $350,000. Less is known about Van Leeuwen, as Loto-Quebec said they were searching for her to come forward for days until they finally tracked her down on Wednesday morning. She is a Dutch woman in her 70s who has been living in Montreal for over 30 years. She worked as a technician at Bell Canada but has been retired for the last 20 years. She told Global News she might go back to her home country of the Netherlands twice a year now instead of once, and said she may even fly first class. She said she purchased her ticket at a convenience store in Montreal's Gay Village. This is the second time in a matter of weeks that the Lotto Max jackpot has been won in Quebec. Story continues below advertisement In June, a group of 15 car dealership workers in Trois-Rivières became millionaires after winning the $20 million Lotto Max. The winner of Canada's largest lottery won the $80-million Lotto Max jackpot on May 9 in British Columbia. This is the largest lottery jackpot ever won by a single individual in Canada.

2 Quebecers win $70M Lotto Max jackpot
Two lucky Quebecers are splitting the $70 million Lotto Max jackpot that was drawn on July 11. One of the winners, Jacques Deschamps from Montreal's Montérégie region, says he plans to spoil his family and explore the world with his $35 million prize. He says he would also like to buy a condo in Montreal. Deschamps adds that he regularly buys Lotto Max tickets, always with the Extra option. On Saturday morning, he recalls sipping his coffee while checking his tickets using the Loto-Quebec mobile app. Thinking at first that he had won $3,500, Deschamps says he realized there were too many zeros. He asked his partner to double-check the ticket, and she realized, 'You've won 35 million.' The couple admits they impatiently called their son and woke him up to tell him the good news. 'This is the second time in a few weeks that the Lotto Max jackpot has been won in Quebec,' said Isabelle Jean, executive vice-president and chief operating officer of lotteries at Loto-Quebec. 'At the beginning of June, 15 colleagues from Trois-Rivières shared a jackpot of $20,000,000. This time, a jackpot of $70,000,000 was won thanks to two selections sold here.' Deschamps' winning ticket was purchased at the Chanteclerc dépanneur at 290 Jacques-Cartier St. in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. The retailer will receive a commission of $350,000, equivalent to one per cent of the prize. Loto-Quebec says it also located the jackpot's second winner on Wednesday morning.
