Bills Face Harsh 'Nobody Cares' Attitude Until Playoffs Arrive

Bills Face Harsh 'Nobody Cares' Attitude Until Playoffs Arrive originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Buffalo Bills are one of only a handful of teams many believe are genuinely capable of winning the Super Bowl this upcoming season. Advertisement But some pitfalls come with that. Given how well the team has performed in the regular season, winning at least 10+ games every year for the past six years, only to fall in the playoffs, they haven't capitalized on their chances. And for analyst Louis Riddick, when looking at the Bills' chances in 2025, nothing the franchise does in the regular season means anything; it's when the playoffs roll around that we can judge them. "Nobody cares what you do in the regular season in Buffalo, nobody cares," Riddick said on ESPN's GetUp. "Of course they're going to have a great regular season, they're one of the most well-coached teams in the NFL, primary players on offense and defense, but it doesn't matter. It's when you get to the playoffs, now what are you going to do?" Advertisement (Jay Biggerstaff-Imagn Images) Is that harsh? We don't think so, and Riddick also had Baltimore in the same conversation. Both teams have shown how clinical and explosive they can be in the regular season; the offense can put up big numbers, the defense can stifle, but in the biggest moments in the postseason, they come unstuck. So, while yes, the numbers in the regular season for Allen and Co. are great, they haven't translated into anything substantial when it matters, and that's the problem. As Riddick says, no one cares what Buffalo does in the regular season; it could go 17-0, and it won't matter because of all the playoff failures that franchise has had. Advertisement And that is a tough spot to be in, but it's one the Bills have put themselves in due to the consistent playoff losses. Related: Is Bills' James Cook A Top 10 Running Back In 2025? ESPN's Louis Riddick Talks Cam Ward, Underrated NFL Rookies and More On 'Best Podcast Available'

ESPN's Louis Riddick Talks Cam Ward, Underrated NFL Rookies and More On 'Best Podcast Available' originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The 2025 NFL Draft was full of compelling storylines, but it kicked off with a No. 1 overall pick that was surprisingly underappreciated. Advertisement Miami quarterback Cam Ward went to the Tennessee Titans with this year's top pick, but his selection was quickly overshadowed by other moves and selections, leaving him without the typical fanfare you see surrounding franchise quarterbacks taken at that spot. On the latest episode of "Best Podcast Available," I sat down with ESPN's Louis Riddick to talk about this year's rookie class, including how such a talented prospect like Ward still feels like he's flying under the radar, despite being the No. 1 overall pick. "If you've ever sat with him, or even just watched his interviews, Cam is not a guy who is a self-promoter," Riddick said. "He's not the 'show-biz' type dude. He's a baller, period." Cam Ward has all the traits to be a superstar for the Tennessee Simmons / The Tennessean-USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Riddick also rattled off some of his other favorite prospects in the NFL's 2025 rookie class, from big names like Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty, to hidden gems like Kansas City Chiefs running back Brashard Smith and Detroit Lions wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa. Advertisement "That's a guy who, people are gonna go, 'Who the hell is Brashard Smith?' You'll know him, I promise. You'll know him soon," Riddick said of the seventh-round pick out of SMU. "You don't typically see guys with that kind of size, who can run 4.3, with that kind of wiggle, who can play in the slot," Riddick said of TeSlaa, a surprise third-round pick many expected to go in the later rounds of the draft. "He was under-utilized at Arkansas. Detroit will find a way, I promise you that." Isaac Teslaa should thrive in a talented, dynamic Detroit Lions Lee-Imagn Images A proud University of Pittsburgh alum who spent nearly a decade in the NFL as a defensive back, Riddick couldn't resist the opportunity to shine a spotlight on his alma matter, pointing out one prospects NFL teams and fans should be watching when the Panthers take the field this fall. Advertisement "Everybody wants to know about the playmakers, and Desmond Reid, he's a multi-purpose back in the same mold as a Brashard Smith," Riddick said of Pitt's star running back. He's probably the guy everybody's eyes are gonna be on. He's a little bit smaller, but super fast, tough as hell, great vision, doesn't back down from anybody. That's the dude everybody's gonna want to see." Louis Riddick Blasts Miami Dolphins for Drafting Quinn Ewers

Louis Riddick Blasts Miami Dolphins for Drafting Quinn Ewers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Former Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers entered the 2024 season as someone who draft experts viewed as a potential top pick in the 2025 NFL draft. However, he had a poor season by his standards, that was also impacted by injuries, and fell to the seventh round of the draft before he was selected by the Miami Dolphins. Advertisement On Thursday, analyst Louis Riddick appeared on Dolphins Talk to discuss Ewers in Miami as a possible long term option as the QB2 behind Tua Tagovailoa. "A long term number two, yeah. I would say off of what I've seen. I was admittedly not a big fan. That's not being disrespectful. That's just being honest. It's interesting, people want you to give your honest opinion as long as it's in accordance with what their opinion is and as long as it's positive." Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers (3) against the Clemson Tigers during the CFP National playoff first round at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial J. Rebilas-Imagn Images "Look Quinn, I don't know Quinn, I just know Quinn from watching a lot of UT film and being a big Longhorns fans. Could he be a good No. 2, yeah. Do I think he has the horsepower as far as body twitch, arm strength, to be a starting caliber QB to really level up Miami? No, I didn't see that. That's why I was very lukewarm to say the least on the draft selection." Advertisement Heading into his first NFL season, Ewers is listed as the third-string QB. Tagovailoa is the starting QB, followed by Zach Wilson. As a result, Ewers is unlikely to earn playing time this season unless there are significant injury issues in Miami. Dan Orlovsky and ESPN in agreement on a new deal: Sources

Dan Orlovsky, who hinted he may not return to ESPN, is expected to re-sign with the network and continue as a prominent football analyst, sources briefed on the contract talks said Tuesday. Orlovsky's new deal is not signed yet, but it has been agreed upon. He will continue to appear on 'NFL Live,' the second team on 'Monday Night Football' and all of his other daily talk show appearances, where he analyzes the NFL and college. Advertisement Orlovsky had talks to be on CBS' Big Ten broadcasts in place of the retiring Gary Danielson, but Orlovsky wanted to hear what ESPN would offer, making the timing not right for a decision. CBS ended up moving Charles Davis from the NFL to college after Danielson's final year in the booth. J.J. Watt is replacing Davis on CBS' No. 2 NFL broadcast team with Ian Eagle. After the Super Bowl in February, Orlovsky said on ESPN that 'you never know what the future holds,' as he gave thanks and mentioned he would not be on the network for a while. However, Orlovsky has since appeared on ESPN. ESPN declined to comment on Orlovsky's expected re-signing. Orlovsky, 41, joined ESPN in 2018 after a 12-year NFL career, where he served mostly as a backup. He rose through the ranks quickly and became part of ESPN's daily 'NFL Live' ensemble that also features Laura Rutledge, Marcus Spears and Mina Kimes. Additionally, Orlovsky pairs with Chris Fowler and Louis Riddick Jr. on ESPN's extra NFL games that its top team of Joe Buck and Troy Aikman don't broadcast.

NFL analyst says Steelers will start season 0-6 under QB Mason Rudolph

The NFL Schedule Release has come and gone — and with it, Steelers fans now know what important dates to look forward to in 2025. However, according to former NFL QB turned ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky, Mason Rudolph may lead the Steel City to a disappointing 0-6 start in 2025. Louis Riddick was asked whether or not the Steelers' supporting cast could help bail out Rudolph to start the 2025 season — and Orlovsky jumped in, shooting down any glimmer of hope for Pittsburgh: Advertisement "No. I think you're staring at 0-6 in the face." The first six opponents that Orlovsky is referencing, who would beat the Steelers to open the 2025 season, are the Jets, Seahawks, Patriots, Vikings, Browns, and Bengals. Out of these six, one could easily argue that the Vikings and Bengals pose the biggest threat to the Steelers — but even under Rudolph, beating Seattle, New York, Cleveland, and New England is absolutely plausible.
