RCMP search for woman of interest in voyeurism incident in Lower Sackville, N.S.

(Source: RCMP) RCMP are searching for a woman of interest allegedly involved in a voyeurism incident in a women's bathroom in Lower Sackville, N.S., earlier this month. According to police, a woman entered a women's bathroom at a business on Sackville Drive and attempted to take photos or video on her phone of another woman in a stall on July 14. After the woman in the stall yelled, the woman who tried taking photo or video entered a stall for several minutes, before leaving the bathroom and restaurant in a back four-door Mercedes. In a news release on Tuesday, police describe the woman as approximately 20 to 30-years-old, with very long brown hair that has highlights around her face. Police add she was wearing black sweatpants, a black and white shirt and white running shoes at the time of the incident. Police noted this incident is not associated to another incident of voyeurism reported in Lower Sackville on July 8, as the person involved in that incident was identified and arrested. Man arrested for allegedly brandishing knife at Lower Sackville, N.S., splash pad

A 32-year-old man is facing several charges after he allegedly brandished a knife and threatened a woman at a Lower Sackville, N.S., splash pad earlier this week. Police responded to a weapons complaint at the splash pad around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to an RCMP news release. They learned a man had allegedly threatened a woman with a 'sensory irritant' before he took out a knife from his waistband during the altercation. 'Witnesses were able to take the knife from the man and toss it away from him,' the release reads. 'The man then fled and was not at the park when officers arrived.' There were no reported physical injuries. Police identified the suspect as Jacob Joseph Jenkins from Dartmouth and safely arrested him that evening. Jenkins was charged with: assault with a weapon uttering threats two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose Jenkins appeared in court on Thursday was released pending a court appearance in September. N.S. group aims to build better futures for people with intellectual disabilities

Better Futures is a non-profit that empowers members to participate in their community at large. A Lower Sackville, N.S., group is helping people with intellectual disabilities form a tight-knit community and learn important skills. 'Building Futures is a day program where we support people with intellectual disabilities by helping them finding ways to contribute to society,' said program manager Lara Abramson. 'We do that through a number of different programs.' The group was officially incorporated as Anchor Industries Society in 1991 before changing to Better Futures Employment Society in 2012. It offers social enterprise programs for people with intellectual disabilities, including meals and catering, a print shop, assembly and a monthly market. 'We sell products that are made by our participants,' Abramson said. Abramson noted the programs are important for participants as they allow them to make vital connections. 'Building Futures is important to the people we support because they find a built-in community,' she said. 'We're here to help them recognize their potential and all the things they can do.' Man who allegedly spied on woman in bathroom turned himself in: N.S. RCMP

The RCMP says it has identified and arrested the man who allegedly spied on a woman in a public bathroom in Lower Sackville, N.S., this week. Police responded to a business on Sackville Drive on Tuesday. They learned a man had allegedly entered the bathroom and laid down on the floor to observe a woman under a stall door. The RCMP said Thursday it was trying to identify and locate the man and released photos of the suspect. Police issued an update Friday, saying the 32-year-old Beaver Bank man turned himself in at the Lower Sackville RCMP detachment after the photos were released. The man, who has not yet been named, was arrested and released on conditions. He is due to appear in Dartmouth provincial court on Sept. 22 to face a charge of voyeurism.
