Chicago police said a dark-colored vehicle driven by a 37-year-old woman and a dark-colored SUV driven by a 20-year-old man were westbound on Belmont and were involved in a collision. The woman's vehicle continued westbound and struck a parked semi-truck. She suffered trauma to the body and was taken to Loyola Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. It happened just after 10:30 p.m. in the 1900 block of North Austin Avenue. A source said the incident started near a music studio on the west side, where police and fire crews get frequent calls. Chicago police said officers responded to a call for service. Upon arrival, officers broke up a large crowd at the scene. During this, a man took off running in the opposite direction. Officers pursued the man who they say turned on officers with a firearm in his hand. One of the officers fired their weapon, hitting the man in the legs and hand. He was taken to Loyola Hospital in fair condition. A source with the Chicago Fire Department said he is 21 years old and was shot four times. A weapon was recovered on the scene. An officer was taken to an area hospital for observation. COPA is investigating the specifics of this incident, including the comprehensive use of force, with the full cooperation of the Chicago Police Department. The officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for a minimum of 30 days.

KANE COUNTY, Ill. - Two people were killed, and two others were seriously injured in a four-vehicle crash Sunday night at the intersection of Plank Road and Switzer Road in Kane County, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office. What we know The crash occurred around 9:43 p.m. when a red Ford F150, traveling west on Plank Road, attempted to avoid a deer in the road. The driver was unable to avoid the animal and swerved into oncoming traffic, narrowly missing a landscaping vehicle before hitting a white GMC Sierra head-on. The Sierra was hauling a trailer and skid steer, officials said. The Ford F150 was then struck by a red Dodge Ram, and the impact caused the Ford to catch fire. Authorities said the driver, an 18-year-old man, was trapped in the burning vehicle but was rescued after his window was broken. He sufferd serious burns and fractures and was airlifted to Loyola Hospital, where he remains in stable condition. The white GMC Sierra had three occupants, and two were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as 31-year-old Erick Garcia-Porcayo and 25-year-old Rosalio Porcayo-Porcayo. The driver suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. The driver of the landscaping vehicle, a 19-year-old man, was not injured.
