Lubrizol unveils additive to tackle DPF issues in China
Lubrizol, a global leader in specialty chemicals, has announced the launch of its latest diesel additive, Lubrizol MF9145V, designed to optimize fuel combustion efficiency and significantly reduce the formation of diesel particulate matter (DPM) at the source. This innovation lowers the frequency of Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) regeneration, which can help vehicle owners save on maintenance costs while enhancing driving smoothness and fuel economy. Extensive trials conducted by Lubrizol have validated these performance benefits in both laboratory and real-world conditions.
Diesel vehicle users in China commonly face challenges with frequent DPF regeneration, which not only consumes additional fuel and interrupts regular driving but also accelerates component aging due to prolonged high-temperature cleaning cycles. 'China's fuel quality, road conditions, and climate are incredibly diverse. Based on localized insights, Lubrizol MF9145V has been specially enhanced for sulfur tolerance and optimized for frequent start-stop, heavy-load climbing, and other typical driving scenarios to ensure clean combustion under complex conditions,' said Henry Liu, Vice President of Lubrizol Asia Pacific and Head of Lubrizol's Additives Division.
Lubrizol has launched MF9145V, a diesel additive designed to reduce diesel particulate matter and DPF regeneration frequency. Tailored for China's varied driving conditions, it enhances fuel combustion, driving smoothness, and fuel economy. Lab and field tests showed a 25 per cent drop in DPF regenerations, 28 per cent improvement in system flow, and reduced downtime with long-lasting protection.
Proven Performance Through Testing
The technical reliability of Lubrizol MF9145V has been validated through comprehensive lab-based bench tests and real-world road trials. In laboratory simulations mimicking China's demanding driving conditions, trucks treated with the additive showed a clear advantage over untreated vehicles—demonstrating reduced DPM buildup inside the DPF, a 28% improvement in system flow efficiency, and stable, long-lasting protection even after three consecutive rigorous tests.
During real-world trials, trucks equipped with DD13 engines followed a 'Deep Clean + Continuous Maintenance' protocol, initially using a specialized cleaner (PowerZol™ZD9149), followed by low-dose, long-term application of Lubrizol MF9145V. According to field trial results, this approach resulted in a 25% reduction in DPF regeneration frequency, a decrease in fuel consumption, and notably more responsive driving feedback, with significant reductions in operational downtime.
Tailored for China's Diverse Driving Scenarios
Lubrizol MF9145V is engineered for China's complex driving environments: long-haul trucking fleets benefit from reduced regeneration during highway travel, construction machinery maintains efficiency under heavy loads without frequent shutdowns, and urban logistics vehicles achieve optimized emissions during stop-and-go conditions. Even in harsh climates, including Northern China's cold winter starts and Northwest regions' long-distance climbs, Lubrizol MF9145V can help provide efficient, clean combustion. The solution has also been verified to meet China's Non-Road Stage IV Emission Standards, which mandate the use of DPF aftertreatment devices. Lubrizol MF9145V is specifically designed to address DPF-related challenges by reducing soot formation and even clogging at the source, helping maintain DPF performance while ensuring compliant and cost-effective operations.
'The development of Lubrizol MF9145V has always been grounded in scientific validation. We look forward to delivering true peace of mind and cost-saving solutions for diesel vehicle owners in China through our technological advancements,' Liu added.
