Halifax is about to get a taste of Italy with the launch of the city's first Gusto Italian Festival.
The seven-day celebration is scheduled to run between June 23 and 29 and promises to showcase the Italian community and culture.
Festivalgoers will have the chance to experience dining events, cooking classes, movies that are Italian or Italian-inspired, wine tasting and more.
Events will take place in the Queen's Marque District and at the Italian-Canadian Cultural Association.
'I think the best thing about the Italian spirit is that this idea of bringing people together around food and drink and celebrating family and friends, so that's what we're trying to do,' said Mark Dewolf, founder of the Gusto Italian Festival.

Luca Ferrante, the owner of Sapori Italian Street Food, says every region in Italy has their own specialty, but there is one thing they all have in common.
'From the pasta, pizza, dessert, we always use fresh Italian ingredients,' said Ferrante.
'The important thing about Italian food, all the dishes that we prepare in Italy, they are made with love and passion.'
