Karim Benzema sends message to departing Real Madrid star
Real Madrid legend Karim Benzema has late this week forwarded a social media message to former Blancos teammate Lucas Vázquez. This, of course, comes after the latter bid an emotional farewell to the Spanish heavyweights on Thursday. After spending the entirety of his career to date on the books of Real Madrid, versatile full-back Vázquez is now officially a free agent. Following the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold, those behind the scenes at the Santiago Bernabéu made the call not to offer the 34-year-old an extension to his expiring terms. After Real Madrid held a farewell ceremony for Vázquez yesterday afternoon, messages of appreciation have since come flooding in for a loyal and always committed servant to the cause in Spain's capital. And as alluded to above, adding his name to this list of well wishers on Thursday evening was Blancos icon Karim Benzema. Taking to his official Instagram account, frontman Benzema unveiled a photo of he and Vázquez on the pitch, accompanied by the caption: '@lucasvazquez91 Bravo' Conor Laird – GSFN

TS: Lucas Vazquez offered to Juventus after Real Madrid exit
Tuttosport newspaper reports that former Real Madrid right-back Lucas Vazquez has been offered to Juventus, while Alberto Costa is not pushing to leave, but the Bianconeri would accept an offer in the region of €18m-€20m. Juventus need a new right-wing back and have been offered ex-Real Madrid defender Lucas Vázquez, who is available as a free agent after the end of his contract at the Bernabéu. Lucas Vázquez not a priority for Juventus As reported by Tuttosport, the main obstacle is the salary of the 34-year-old who earned €4.5m in his final season at Real Madrid. The Spaniard is not a priority target at the moment, but Juventus director Damien Comolli will discuss his potential signing alongside coach Igor Tudor. Juventus targets for the right wing, plus Alberto Costa and Weah updates The other targets for the right flank are Fiorentina's Dodo, valued at €30m, and Josha Vagnoman of VfB Stuttgart. Juventus remain in talks with Sporting CP for Alberto Costa. The Portuguese joined Juventus this past January, and Tudor is eager to retain him at the Allianz Stadium, although Juventus could accept to sell him for €18m-€20m. As per Tuttosport, Costa is not pushing to leave Juventus. On the other hand, Timothy Weah has agreed to personal terms with Roberto De Zerbi's Marseille, who are now in talks with Juventus to reach an agreement over the USMNT international transfer fee.

Real Madrid veteran pens emotional farewell message to Lucas Vazquez – ‘More than just a teammate'
In a long message last night, Lucas Vazquez confirmed his departure from Real Madrid which, while not official to that point, was always an open secret. The 34-year-old officially bid goodbye to the club earlier today in a farewell ceremony at the Sports City, in the presence of his family, teammates, and club officials. The club captain and academy graduate played his final game for the club against PSG where he came off the bench for the final eight minutes. The result did not go Los Blancos' way but it was an emotional night for the right-back regardless. Over the years, Vazquez served as an able backup right-back and did well to help the team whenever called upon. As a graduate of La Fabrica, he remains one of the few players in recent years to make it into the first-team and sustain until the fag end of his career. Carvajal's parting message Taking to his Instagram earlier today, Real Madrid veteran and Vazquez's direct competitor Dani Carvajal bid an emotional farewell to the departing captain with a message that truly captured the special bond the duo shared with each other. 'He's more than just a teammate. The last teammate of those three Champions in a row, of a stage that marked our lives and the history of Real Madrid, is gone,' started Carvajal. 'Over all these years we have shared much more than trainings and games. We've had magical nights, difficult moments, laughter, trips, locker room chats… things that only those of us inside truly understand.' Praising the Spaniard, Carvajal added: 'The way you compete, your professionalism, the way you are always, through good and bad, says a lot about you. 'Because a team is made when they all go together, and you've always wanted to be added. Always. And that, inside the locker room, is valued more than is sometimes said.' Concluding, the Real Madrid captain stated: 'It's been many years together, and it's been an honor to share so much with you, Lucas. As a teammate and as a friend. 'I wish you all the luck in the world in whatever comes next. And most of all, thank you Lucas Vazquez.' Both Carvajal and Vazquez played at right-back for Real Madrid but the former was always seen to be the technically superior of the two Spaniards. Vazquez, thus, spent most of his time at Real Madrid as a direct backup to Carvajal. Last season, however, Carvajal suffered a gruesome knee injury that required surgery and was thus ruled out for the entire season. He only made his return in the FIFA Club World Cup and it was Vazquez who covered the department through last season. Now, however, the arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold and the return of Carvajal from injury left Vazquez with little to no room to earn minutes and the player thus saw it right to part ways with the club of his dreams immediately.

Real Madrid icon bids emotional farewell after 17 years
Real Madrid veteran Lucas Vazquez bid farewell to his boyhood club on Thursday, in an official club act. The 34-year-old's contract has expired, and he is now a free agent for the first time. Vazquez joined the club at the age of 16 in 2007 as a youth player from Velez, and began moving up the ranks until he reached the Castilla side. He would then leave on loan to Espanyol for a year, before Los Blancos brought him back from Los Pericos. He would spend the next decade as a useful alternative for Real Madrid, initially on the right wing, and then as a right-back. The nine-time Spain international made 402 appearances for the club, scoring 38 goals and giving 73 assists. Perhaps most famously he scored a penalty against Aletico Madrid in the 2016 Champions League final, and last season scored and assisted in a 3-2 win over Barcelona. He lifted four Liga titles, five Champions Leagues, and one Copa del Rey, while picking up a further 12 Supercup trophies. Dedication to partner Macarena Rodriguez In an emotional event, where President Florentino Perez called Vazquez 'one of us', before thanking him for his years of service, Vazquez opened with a message for his wife Macarena Rodriguez. 'Without you, this wouldn't have been possible,' Lucas said to his wife, as quoted by Marca. 'You gave me peace of mind and support to keep believing in myself. We've laughed and cried together. You're the person who knows me best and also the one who has endured me the most, being my best life partner. I can never thank you for everything you've done for me.' Image via Real Madrid Message to fans and president Vazquez was in tears at the event and on his final day at the Santiago Bernabeu in May, as he cut a lower profile than Luka Modric and Carlo Ancelotti. 'This is one of the most important days of my life, and I want to start by thanking the fans. Thank you for every applause and every gesture of support. You've made me feel at home. I've had the privilege of sharing a dressing room with legends and winning titles, but above all, I've been happy. I've felt valued, respected, and loved. Thank you for allowing me to fulfill my dream,' he indicated to Perez. 'I've fulfilled my dream. I'm leaving, but Real Madrid will never be mine. I am and always will be Lucas Vazquez, a Real Madrid youth player.'
