TikTok's Nara Smith hits back at ‘Trad Wife' claims: ‘My husband does dishes'
Content creator Nara Smith is pushing back against being labelled the 'Trad Wife Poster Child'. The 23-year-old model, known for making mouthwatering meals from scratch for her family, says she has been battling the misconception since going viral on TikTok in 2023. The assumption largely stems from her marriage to Mormon model Lucky Blue Smith (27), with Mormon wives traditionally expected to put family before personal ambitions and devote themselves to marriage, motherhood and submissiveness. In a recent interview on the On Purpose podcast with Jay Shetty, Nara opened up about why the stereotype couldn't be further from the truth. 'The other day, someone brought it up to me, and they were like, 'You have a very traditional way of life.' I'm like, 'What do you mean?' We split chores. I work. My husband works. We have children. We split everything. I cook because I love to, not because I have to.' Nara says there's nothing traditional about them as a couple, except getting married young and having children. The pair tied the knot in 2020 when Nara was 18 and Lucky was 21, and they now have three children – Rumble Honey (4), Slim Easy (3) and 14-month-old Whimsy Lou. 'There's things that Lucky does that I guess traditional men wouldn't do,' Nara says. 'Like do the dishes or get the kids dressed or do their hair, or whatever it may be that people don't associate with a traditional man.' @naraazizasmith ultimate summer meal! 🤍 #easyrecipe #homecooking #fypシ #marriage #mediterraneanfood #salad ♬ Nice and Easy - Louis Adrien Despite repeatedly trying to set the record straight on social media, Nara says many people still refuse to believe her. 'They use me as this poster child of this very traditional wife and I'm not,' she says. And there's things that I do, like having a full-time career [as a model] and having Lucky be home watching the children while I travel for two weeks. Which is not traditional in their mind Nara Smith This isn't the first time she's had to defend her lifestyle choices. In August 2024, during a GQ interview, both Nara and Lucky addressed their critics directly. 'It's not so much about, 'Oh, I need to make my husband a meal right now or else he's going to be mad,'' Nara clarified. 'He does clean up. Which I'm grateful for because I hate that part.' 'I view our situation as a big partnership in every aspect of our lives,' Lucky added. Nara explained that her viral cooking videos aren't meant to promote a Mormon lifestyle, but rather to inspire people through her genuine passion for cooking. 'I used to cry at home and tell Lucky, 'I don't understand why they're saying all these things. Whether it's a meal idea or a home-cooked meal I've made my toddler, or my soothing voice, or whatever it is, I just put content out there to inspire people.' However, she's learned to let people think what they want and has found peace in being misunderstood. 'They don't care for the truth,' she says. 'They care about what they want to hear and what serves them. So the less I say, kind of the better because it preserves my energy. 'I'm gonna do me and whoever resonates with that, great.' These days, Nara is channelling her energy into what truly matters – her growing family. Last month, she announced her fourth pregnancy during a TikTok live, revealing she's six months along. 'I'm so excited,' she shared. 'And we do know the gender. I'm probably not going to announce it before the baby is born.' Show Comments ()

Nara Smith Is Facing Criticism From Fans After Seemingly Drinking Raw Milk While Pregnant
You know influencer Nara Smith, probably. It's possible you've seen her pop up amidst thousands of rounds of "tradwife" discourse, which she, of course, has an opinion on — but, we're not here to talk about that today. Related: What we are here to talk about is this TikTok in which Nara and her husband Lucky Blue Smith (what a name!) make cinnamon roll cookies from scratch. Now, if you're aware of these two in general, you may be saying to yourself, "So what? They are literally posting stuff like this all the time." @naraazizasmith / Via And you're not wrong! But what is significant about this particular video takes place near the very end, in which Nara states that "Even though I'm not a fan of cookies, these hit the spot with some cold raw milk." The safety of consuming raw milk is, to say the least, highly disputed. The CDC specifically states on its website that drinking milk that hasn't gone through the pasteurization process can expose those who consume it to illnesses like E. coli and listeria. "Some groups, such as children under 5, adults over 65, pregnant women, and people with weakened immune systems, are at a higher risk of serious illness from these germs," the agency states. That last bit is crucial because Nara is currently pregnant with her fourth child. Related: Now, before we get into the "Here's what people are saying" of it all: At no point in the video does Nara actually show herself drinking raw milk. However, she does suggest that she drank it, and given that she is literally considered an influencer, perhaps encouraging other pregnant women to enjoy some raw milk and cookies isn't exactly a positive "influence." All of that being said, here's what people are saying: Related: Related: There you have it. A rare instance where reading the comments is actually a pretty good idea! Here's Why Nara Smith, A 23-Year-Old Mother Of 3, Is Pushing Back On The "Tradwife" Label
You know Nara Smith, the TikTok star and influencer who posts fashionable DIY cooking videos and lifestyle content. Related: Often, she creates content alongside her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, mentioning their children with their pretty unique names. Their children's names are Rumble Honey, Slim Easy, and Whimsy Lou, and they're expecting a fourth child. If you've seen her content and thought she simply fell under the category of a traditional wife, aka a "tradwife," you'd actually be very wrong. Nara is officially pushing back on that label. On a July 10 episode of On Purpose with Jay Shetty, Nara discussed her struggles with her "online presence" and people's projections as a content creator. "When people hear that I have three kids at 23, and I had my first a few weeks after I turned 19, they always freak out," she said. "They're projecting how they want their life to be onto me. That's one thing I struggled with in the beginning, doing social media." @JayShettyPodcast / Via Related: "People love projecting things onto me and kind of how I live my life just because I cook for my husband, because it's my love language and I love cooking," she said. @naraazizasmith / Via "They project onto it that I'm in the kitchen and trapped and I'm just at home and [my husband] the breadwinner and all of these things," Nara added, "and I'm like, no, I work." Related: In addition to being an influencer, wife, and mother, Nara has had a modeling career since she was 14 years old. She's not just a traditional stay-at-home mother. "I work. I'm very busy. I travel almost every week. I have kids that I raise," she said. "I love being in the kitchen because it's a passion of mine, not because I have to. And sometimes I feel like this is where social media gets tricky for me personally." "It doesn't matter how much I voice those things and try to make people understand that I am actually a full-time working mom that they just don't wanna get it," Nara continued. "They use me as this poster child of this like very traditional wife and I'm not. There's nothing truly traditional about us as a couple, apart from maybe that we chose to have kids young and get married young. But apart from that, we split towards 50/50." In the interview, Nara explained that even her husband wouldn't fall under the role of a traditional husband. "There's things that Lucky does that I guess, traditional men wouldn't do. Like do the dishes or get the kids dressed or do their hair, or whatever it may be that people don't associate with a traditional man," she said. "And there's things that I do like having a full-time career and having Lucky be home while I travel for two weeks. People see that side of my life, and I voice that side of my life but they still don't want to accept it." Related: Nara discussed how people on the internet can be negative, and it's even led to her crying to Lucky about it. "Nowadays, society they love drama. They love negativity. They feed off of fights and opinions and online situations that cause conflict," she said. "I think that's what people love projecting onto me. They love that I'm so controversial, and they can kind of say whatever. And in the beginning, it really used to bother me. I used to cry at home and tell Lucky, like, 'I don't understand why they're saying all these things.'" When Nara challenged the negative comments and tried to defend herself, she explained that she would face more pushback. "Then all the comments would be like, 'She's lying, she's gaslighting us,'" she explained, "and I'm like, I literally cannot win. And I think that's what I've learned. People don't want to hear the truth. They don't care for the truth. They care about what they wanna hear and what serves them. So the less I say, kind of the better." "It preserves my energy," she concluded. "There's no point in me saying something that someone doesn't even wanna hear." Nara Smith Shares Throwback Photo of Curls Before 'Severe Eczema' Caused Her to Lose Her Hair
Nara Smith has been transparent about her struggles with her eczema over the years On June 3, she posted a photo of her curly hair before losing a lot of it to eczema Nara documented her symptoms during flare-ups on Instagram in DecemberNara Smith is sharing more about her struggle with "severe eczema." The 23-year-old influencer continues to document her ongoing struggle with eczema over the years. On July 3, Nara shared a throwback photo with her husband, Lucky Blue Smith, and herself with curly hair on her Instagram stories. She added the text, saying 'My hair before getting severe eczema on my scalp which caused me to [lose] a lot of hair…' This isn't the first time the mother of three has opened up about her struggle with eczema. On December 10, 2024, through an Instagram post, Nara detailed her journey with eczema and eventually Lupus after she made known that bad flare-ups were in part the reason why she notably started making food from scratch. The carousel that she posted in December featured a picture of her dry and itchy scalp. "It's been about 3 years since my eczema started flaring up severely," Nara began her lengthy caption alongside a carousel of images showing her flare-ups. "I had just given birth to my second child. It started off as a small cracked patch of dry skin that I just moisturized and ignored." "My eczema spread rapidly starting on the palms of my hands and making its way onto my back, arms, scalp and eventually my face. I felt exhausted and my body ached so bad that on some days I couldn't move or hold my babies," she continued. Nara is the mother of three kids: Rumble Honey, Slim Easy and Whimsy Lou. She shares them with Lucky, 27, whom she wed in February 2020. Nara announced on June 8 that she and Lucky are expecting their fourth child. "As time went on my hair fell out in clumps and I could never shake this lingering cold feeling I felt in my body," she continued in the post from December. "I spend nights researching eczema since I thought that's all I had. I drastically changed my diet (cutting out grains, dairy, sugar) making food from scratch and swapped out all my products for more natural options." Nara has since become synonymous with her cooking videos on TikTok, often recreating conventional dishes from scratch while explaining the process in ASMR style. "I would go through phases of it healing (never fully clearing up) and then flaring up. I saw multiple [dermatologists] and always got the same answer: severe eczema. I got sent home defeated, not listened to and with a paper bag full of steroid creams," she continued. Nara said that she was "struggling and [overanalyzing] everything" she put in her body for two years, causing her "biggest flareup" which then led "to a severe infection." She detailed, "Every part of my body was covered in inflamed, oozing, itchy and swollen skin." Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. "I woke up with my eyes swollen shut and my hands not functioning. I stopped eating completely, l paralyzed by the fear of making it worse," she revealed, noting that she fell into "a state of depression" which inspired her to seek help internationally. "I got on a flight to Germany seeking help from naturopaths, doctors and other specialists and finally got a diagnosis: Lupus," the model recalled. She compared the answer to a puzzle where "all the pieces fell into place" and all of her "symptoms made sense." "From my purple hands that felt frozen, to my extreme fatigue, my hair loss and sores. It all made sense now,' she explained, adding she 'felt relieved' because she 'finally had an answer but I was equally scared of what this meant for my life and my kids." Nara admitted it's been "a learning curve" and she's still "learning" to adjust each day. "I'm sharing this in the hopes of giving someone hope, comfort or the strength to keep pushing when things get really hard and lonely," she concluded her post. Read the original article on People

Next Stay Close ✕ 'I did a lot of the things that people in their 20s do when I was a teenager,' the 23-year-old added. 'So now I felt like I was ready to start a new chapter and do other things, which is being a mom. And I love being a mom and making that choice.' However, as the young mom revealed, she and Lucky were surprised by their latest baby news. 'This was a surprise baby,' Nara shared. 'I said I was totally done after our last one. Whimsy is only just about over a year, I guess it was meant to be.' She also told her followers more about how far along she is in her pregnancy. 'I'm about 6 months now,' she continued. 'Which is crazy to say. And no, I didn't pre-record any of my videos. It's just good angles, outfits and sucking in my stomach.' 'I waited to share for as long as I feel like I could because, I knew that people were going to have all kinds of opinions,' she added. 'And me personally, I had to get used to the idea as well of having another kid since I mentally prepped to be done after Whimsy.' She added that they are going to keep the details of the sex of the baby private. 'I'm so excited,' she shared. 'And we do know the gender. I'm probably not going to announce it before the baby is born.' Nara also shared that she is going to do another home birth and noted that aside from a few symptoms, all in all, this has been her 'easiest pregnancy.' And as for having extra hands in the kitchen, or with her children, Nara shut down speculation that she has a 'team' helping her with her family. 'Lucky and I are really good at tag-teaming,' she said. 'We tag-team and really figure out our work schedules and what we have to do. And then the other person takes care of the kids. Then when we're lucky, family come and help out when we're both travelling or when it's too much, and the workload is piling up. So, we're kind of managing it like that.'
