Has Too Much been renewed for Season 2? Here's what we know:

Renewed or Cancelled? Too Much is the latest comedy on Netflix, created by Lena Dunham and bringing that same awkward style of humour that punctuates a lot of her shows. Having watched the first season in its entirety, you may be wondering if this one has been renewed or cancelled. Well, wonder no more! What is Too Much about? Mirroring creator Lena Dunham's own experience of moving to London and falling in love with British musician Luis Felber (who's actually a writer and executive producer for this show), the series plays out as a recreation for how these two got together. After a breakup, a New Yorker called Jessica becomes obsessed with her ex. However, she's given a new business opportunity and a fresh start in London. Whilst there, she meets a care-free guy called Felix who causes her to reconsider finding love again. As the pair start to connect, Jessica has a hard time letting go of her past, all whilst believing her 'happily ever after' must have some flaws. We have ongoing coverage of Too Much on the site, including recaps for the first and last episodes. You can find those HERE! Has Too Much been renewed for Season 2? At the time of writing, Too Much has not been renewed for season 2. Generally Netflix would gauge numerous metrics before renewing a show, including how many people initially watch it and then looking at the drop-off rate. With some shows, cancellations or renewals happen quickly. Other times, it can take months before a decision over a show's future is made. So far, Too Much has had a very mixed reaction online from audiences and critics alike. Given the way this show is set up, and the ending we receive, we're predicting that this will not be renewed for a second season. The ending is actually quite conclusive but beyond that, we do also know that completion rate is a massive metric for these streamers. Why is that important? Well, when it comes to comedies like Too Much, this is very much a hit or miss show. You'll either love the humour early on or be completely turned off. This is likely to split viewers, which won't benefit those metrics. However, we could be proven wrong here and there may be a massive audience for this one. For now, we'll have to wait and see what happens! What we know about season 2 so far: Barely anything is known about Too Much season 2 at this point given Netflix haven't officially renewed or cancelled this one. Given the first season's conclusion, it does seem like it could be brought back for more interpersonal drama, especially as Lena Dunham herself has plans to recreate more of her own life for the small screen. The show ends rather conclusively though, all things considered, but should this get the greenlight, expect another 10 episode season and the same style of humour as before. Until Netflix makes an official announcement, we'll keep this article updated with any new information. Would you like to see Too Much return for a second season? Who Is Lena Dunham's Husband Luis Felber?

Happy Lena Dunham day! After months of waiting, Lena Dunham's much-anticipated new series, Too Much, is finally here. The ten-episode series follows New Yorker Jessica who moves to London after a painful breakup. She's a workaholic in her 30s, who finds herself connecting with Felix, who appears to be the wrong match for her. You can expect the usual Dunham mix of millennial-ness, romance and the odd tear. But aside from her successful professional life, there's growing interest in Lena Dunham's personal life, including her husband, Luis Felber. This is partly because Too Much was loosely inspired by Dunham's own experience meeting Luis Felber upon moving to the UK - although she stressed there are some key differences between the show and her life. Luis Felber is a musician who is married to Lena Dunham. He was born in Winchester to a Peruvian mother and a British father, spending his early years in Peru and Chile. He moved back to Britain when he was seven years old, and went on to pursue a career in music. Luis spent his twenties playing in different bands while they toured. Eventually, Luis decided to pursue his own solo career under the name Attawalpa. 'I've been signed to labels before, and had a bunch of money. They'll say "make something with this" and that's really cool, and I did, but then they're allowed to dabble in it and I really like the sort of DIY, out on the street, aspect of making things. Especially with videos, I get to collaborate and evolve with really cool directors and people I've been wanting to work with for ages,' he said in an interview with Yuck Magazine. Luis Felber is 39 years old, which is the same age as Lena. Lena Dunham and Luis Felber met in early 2021, and embarked on a whirlwind romance. They were set up on a blind date by mutual friends, and according to reports, instantly hit it off. In an article published in The Sunday Times, Felber said he actually 'had to Google' Lena before her first date as he didn't know who she was. 'Then I went on her Instagram and I saw her dancing to a song called 'Red Hot P***y' in her garden in LA,' he said. 'Lena puts herself out there in a really special way. That was all I had to go on at the time.' In an interview with The New York Times, Felber spoke about the moment they met. 'It was a blind date. A mutual friend of ours basically set us up,' he told the outlet. 'The first time we hung out, we didn't stop talking for, like, eight hours … I think it was sort of incredible, you know, I walked into that. I'd been on quite a few dates in the past year. As someone who's quite open, I find you hold a lot back on your first three dates. Or first 10 dates. I was just a bit fed up with that, so I just walked into the situation very myself, shall I say. And Lena liked that. And she's the same.' Yes! The couple moved in together after a few months of dating and got married after seven months in an intimate ceremony with family and friends. It seems things have only got better from there. Speaking to The New York Times, Felber shared some sweet words about their bond. 'Every morning is a blessing. And every evening, to be able to go to bed with your best friend and chat — we find it hard to go to sleep at a decent hour. It's rarely eight hours,' he said. Lena has also previously commented on how fast the relationship moved, saying that getting married so quickly 'is not something I recommend to everybody but it worked for us'. She explained that the pair's marriage taught them 'teamwork and compromise' which has 'trickled into my family dynamics and friendships in a really good way'. Very loosely, according to Dunham. Luis and Felix (played by Will Sharpe, who you might recognise from The White Lotus) are both professional musicians, and, like Jessica, Lena met Felber when she moved from New York to North London. Felber's band Attawalpa also made the music for many of the tracks in Too Much. However, Lena has stressed that the show isn't entirely a true story. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Lena said the 'germ' of Too Much is 'autobiographical', but the show 'really expanded far beyond what we had even dreamed it could be into a totally different world.' When it comes to the characters, she told Radio Times that they differ from herself and Luis in major ways, and were developed in line with the cast members. 'It was an interesting melding where, of course, there were starting points of emotions or things I'd experienced, but then I really wanted to write to... not necessarily who they are, but just aspects of them – and what I think that they can do,' she said. Everything to know about ‘Too Much,' Lena Dunham's Netflix TV show starring Megan Stalter that's kinda, sorta ‘based on a true story'

Originally published June 10; updated July 9 with new information. Writer, director, actress, producer, author, and comedian Lena Dunham is doing Too Much. More from Gold Derby 'Ne Zha 2,' explained: How it became the biggest animated film ever and is recruiting Oscar talent for the U.S. release 'Severance' leads Television Critics Association Awards nominations with 5 The eight-time Emmy nominee and two-time Golden Globe winner for HBO's Girls has movied to Netflix for her latest romantic comedy series starring Megan Stalter (Hacks) and Will Sharpe (The White Lotus). The new show, which has an international flare, is created by Dunham and Luis Felber, who previously collaborated together on the 2022 film Catherine Called Birdy. Read on for everything to know about Too Much. "It's certainly not quote-unquote 'based on a true story,' but like everything I do, there is an element of my own life that I can't help but inject," Dunham told Variety two days before the debut of Too Much. As for her leading lady Stalter, Dunahm said, "She has an innocence and manners that are not very New York. She's not a nihilistic or cynical person, and I would like to be more that way. Meg just has this quality where no matter what she's doing, no matter what she's saying, you believe her. ... We feel like two kids that are telling secrets and laughing, and just able to be our childlike selves together. And that made it really interesting to be directed by her, because I feel so connected to her." Stalter plays a New Yorker named Jessica, who starts a new life in London after breaking up with her longtime boyfriend. There, she finds a fresh connection with Felix, played by Sharpe. Additional cast members and guest stars include: Michael Zegan, Janicza Bravo, Richard E. Grant, Leo Reich, Daisy Bevan, Adele Exarchopoulos, Dean-Charles Chapman, Rita Wilson, Naomi Watts, Prasanna Puwanarajah, Andrew Rannells, Rhea Perlman, Emily Ratajkowski, Stephen Fry, Kaori Momoi, Adwoa Aboah, Andrew Scott, Jennifer Saunders, Kit Harington, Rita Ora, Jessica Alba, and Dunham. Here is how Netflix describes the expat rom-com: "Jessica is a New York workaholic in her mid-30s, reeling from a broken relationship that she thought would last forever and slowly isolating everyone she knows. When every block in New York tells a story of her own bad behavior, the only solution is to take a job in London, where she plans to live a life of solitude like a Brontë sister. But when she meets Felix — a walking series of red flags — she finds that their unusual connection is impossible to ignore, even as it creates more problems than it solves. Now they have to ask themselves: do Americans and Brits actually speak the same language?" A two-minute video trailer was released on June 10 and showcases a very "unhappy" Jessica, who goes wild after her breakup. She travels to London, the home of her favorite movie, Spice World, to regroup and try to find her "English dream." That's where she comes into contact with Felix, who accuses her of being a "Love Actually girl" — that's a tongue-in-cheek reference to the fact that the Too Much producers also produced that romantic comedy film. Dunham serves as an executive producer on Too Much alongside Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Michael P. Cohen, Surian Fletcher-Jones, and Bruce Eric Kaplan, plus producer Camilla Bray. Felber is the music composer and a cowriter. Dunham writes or cowrites all of the episodes. The series reportedly filmed on location in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, U.K., in early 2024, and then production traveled to Brooklyn to shoot in mid-2024. All 10 episodes of Too Much will be available to stream on Netflix on July 10. It will be eligible at the 2026 Emmys. These Americans Went Looking for a Romanticized Britain. They Found a Different Story.

In the first episode of 'Too Much,' Lena Dunham's loosely autobiographical new series that premieres on Netflix this Thursday, Jessica (played by Megan Stalter) arrives in London from Great Neck, N.Y. She is subletting a flat in the fictional Hoxton Grove Estate, and expects to find verdant grounds surrounding a stately building, like something one might find in a Merchant Ivory production. 'Good luck with that, love,' the cabdriver laughs as he drops her outside an apartment block with peeling paint. After all, the Britain we see onscreen — in period dramas or in modern Richard Curtis romantic comedies like 'Notting Hill' — tends to emphasize a certain aspirational loveliness. It also tends to gloss over details — like the fact that 'estate' can refer to both sprawling mansions and public housing. This well-established idealization means that when Jessica first meets Felix (Will Sharpe), an indie musician inspired by Ms. Dunham's real-life indie musician husband, Luis Felber, he quickly hypothesizes her reasons for being in London: 'Let me guess, you're one of those 'Love Actually'-loving girls?' he asks with a grin. 'You're on a pilgrimage?' While the British pilgrims fled to America's shores about 400 years ago, Ms. Dunham, who moved to London in 2021, is one of the many Americans making the reverse journey today, seeking refuge in the coziness they have seen depicted onscreen or on the page. But as these Americans adjust to regional accents and codes of conduct, many are surprised by what they find. 'It didn't take long for me to understand some of the decay underneath the facade,' Ms. Dunham said in an email. Dating Was 'Hell on Earth' Adrianna Cordero-Marino, who works as a consultant in the health care and pharmaceutical industries and describes herself as a 'big '90s rom-com girlie,' was so excited to start dating in London, she changed her Hinge location a week before she moved from Ambler, Pa., in late 2020. She liked the idea of finding a 'quintessential cute little British boy' in the mold of Hugh Grant's William in 'Notting Hill.' Want all of The Times? Subscribe.

How the Women of ‘Too Much' Made the Rom-Com Just Right

When Lena Dunham moved to London in 2021, she had given up on love. 'The rest of my life is just going to be about my family and my animals and my job,' she remembered telling herself. If you have seen Dunham's previous work, which often skews anti-romantic, this will make a special kind of sense. In the six-season HBO series 'Girls,' a generation-defining traumedy, Dunham, a writer, director and occasional actor, viewed love with a conjunctival eye — itchy, gritty, irritated. But love had not given up on Dunham. Just after her move, she met the musician Luis Felber. She didn't anticipate anything serious. 'I was seeing it as fleeting — it's fun to hang out with a boy during the pandemic,' Dunham said on a stupidly beautiful June morning in New York. She was wrong. By the fall of that year, they were married. Soon, there were reports that Dunham and Felber were developing a show based on their relationship. That 10-episode show, 'Too Much,' arrives on Netflix on July 10. Is 'Too Much' a romantic comedy? Yes. Is it inspired by Lena's own story? Sure. But 'Too Much' wants more — inclusivity, expansiveness, a reconsideration of the love stories we tell and about whom we tell them. Want all of The Times? Subscribe.
