The sick gift man, 29, offered a 13-year-old boy in exchange for sex

A former boat skipper has been jailed for attempting to meet up with a 13-year-old boy to have sex after offering him a PlayStation device in exchange. Luke Edward Reynolds, 29, pleaded guilty in Brisbane District Court on Friday to seven offences relating to the indecent treatment and use of electronic communications to procure a child under 16. Reynolds started speaking to a 13-year-old boy on an online chat platform before moving to Snapchat to have 'exclusively sexually explicit' conversations in April 2024. He sent multiple photos of his erect penis to the child and an animated image of two men having sex asking the boy 'should we try this?', crown prosecutor Isabelle MacNicol told the court. He offered the boy a PlayStation device in exchange for sex. Reynolds discussed with the boy to meet in person to have sex and whether other males could join in. He also sent the boy a photo of a blue cooler bag that contained lubricant, condoms and anal cream. Reynolds arranged to meet with the boy outside Cannon Hill's YMCA in Brisbane's south and brought the cooler bag to the meeting. The boy became nervous during the meeting and decided not to go ahead with the sexual activities that had been discussed, leaving on his push bike. When the child returned home, his parents became suspicious and took his phone to discover the raft of messages and reported it to the police. Reynolds continued to message the boy, asking to meet up again and sent more explicit photos, but this time it was a police officer behind the screen. After four days, he arranged with an officer purporting to be the child to meet at the same YMCA where police swooped to arrest Reynolds. He was again holding the cooler bag with the same items inside and was found to have images of naked children on his phone by officers. Reynolds admitted during a police interview that he knew the boy was under 16, even suspecting he was younger than 13, and intended to have sex with him. 'The offending is characterised as persistent, predatory and premeditated,' Ms MacNicol said. Defence barrister Patrick Wilson argued that Reynolds was remorseful and had suffered as a result of his offending, losing his job as a ferry driver for a resort. A psychologist's report detailed that Reynolds was a loner as a child and had never had a relationship or sexual contact, Mr Wilson told the court. It also disputed that Reynolds was a pedophile; instead, Mr Wilson argued the offending was a product of a 'sexually naive person'. Judge Brad Farr called Reynolds' crimes 'demonstrably serious' and 'vile' given that he knew at all times the boy was under 16. 'The evidence of the fact you were willing to pursue in sexual activity with a child by arriving at the pre-arranged location on two separate occasions and bringing with you paraphernalia designed to achieve that purpose, all of which aggravates the seriousness of the offending,' he said. Reynolds was sentenced to two years' imprisonment and will serve six months before being released on probation. 'It was protracted, even after the child exhibited concern about following through with what had been discussed and perhaps even fear,' Judge Farr said. 'You persisted to encourage him to do so, you placed your own sexual gratification to the forefront with little, if any, thought to the potential harm to the complainant.'

Man who used Snapchat to try and meet up with 13yo boy jailed for 'vile' and 'calculated' offending

A Queensland ferry driver nabbed in a police sting while trying to meet a 13-year-old boy has been jailed for his "vile" and "calculated" offending. Luke Edward Reynolds will serve six months behind bars after pleading guilty in the Brisbane District Court to using electronic communication to procure a child under 16, indecent treatment of a child, and possessing child exploitation material. Reynolds was 28 years old when he sent a photograph of his genitals to a 13-year-old boy he had started grooming through an online chatroom in April 2024. The court heard the sexualised conversation moved to Snapchat, with Reynolds later organising to meet the boy in Brisbane. In sentencing Reynolds to two years' imprisonment, with the actual time served to be six months, Judge Brad Farr described the offending as "horrid" and "calculated". He said it had persisted even after the boy became "nervous" and left on his pushbike. The court heard the boy's parents had become suspicious of where he had been when they discovered explicit messages from Reynolds on his phone. Reynolds continued messaging the boy, including sending him a photo of his genitals — not realising he was actually communicating with police officers who the boy's father had contacted to report what occurred. He was arrested on April 10 when he went to meet who he thought was the boy. He was found with a cooler bag containing a towel, condoms, lubricant and anal cream. The court heard Reynolds admitted to police that he knew the child was under the age of 16 and that he intended to have sex with him. An examination of his phone found images of naked teenage children had been saved, the court heard. Defence barrister Patrick Wilson said Reynolds was "sexually naive" and had never had sex before. He said his client was "remorseful", had been a bit of a "loner" through life, and suffered from depression and anxiety. Mr Wilson said the proceedings and their publicity had "a substantial impact" on Reynolds, pointing to the "number of journalists" in the courtroom covering the case. He said Reynolds had lost his job as a ferry driver but was "driven out of that industry by virtue of the publicity associated with his arrest". Reynolds was described by his defence lawyer as "someone who has good prospects of rehabilitation long-term". Judge Farr accepted Reynolds' remorse but said the offending showed "little thought" to the potential harm posed to the victim. "Even after the child exhibited … concern at following through … and perhaps even fear, you persisted to try and encourage him. "A sentence which reflects public denunciation of such vile conduct is relevant."

Previewing the 2025 season for Penn State TE Luke Reynolds with his player profile

Previewing the 2025 season for Penn State TE Luke Reynolds with his player profile Going into the 2025 football season, Nittany Lions Wire will examine each player listed on the Penn State roster. Over the preseason, each profile will cover the player's background, how recruiting websites rated them coming out of high school, and what role they will play for James Franklin this season. Replacing John Mackey Award winner Tyler Warren won't be easy, but tight end Luke Reynolds flashed his talent in limited time last season and will contend for the starting role in 2025. The true sophomore appeared in all 16 games last season and was impressive as a pass-catcher and blocker. Reynolds is likely remembered for a special teams trick play against Minnesota which helped Penn State seal the game, but he'll likely produce plenty more highlight reel plays this season with more playing time. Preseason Player Profile Hometown: Westford, Massachusetts Height: 6-4 Weight: 252 lb Class in 2025: Sophomore Recruiting Rankings Class of 2024: 5-star recruit by 247Sports, 4-star recruit by other outlets, No. 1 tight end (247Sports) Reynolds arrived on campus as the third-highest rated tight end recruit in program history, behind only Adam Breneman in 2013 and Theo Johnson in 2020. 247Sports was especially high on him, placing him as the No. 1 tight end and No. 1 Massachusetts recruit in the 2024 class. Career Stats Games Receptions Yards Touchdowns Yards per reception 2024 16 9 111 1 12.3 Depth Chart Overview Though he was playing behind the top tight end in all of college football last season, the path has cleared up for Reynolds to make a run at the TE1 spot. His biggest competition for the role comes from veteran Khalil Dinkins, but it'll be hard to hold off Reynolds, who's been extremely impressive throughout winter workouts and spring practices.
